Immanuel Quickley???? I read a mock draft recently that had him going 16th to the Miami Heat.
Miami Heat: Immanuel Quickley, PG, Kentucky, 6-3, Fr.

Quickley is a true point guard and table setter with a great feel for running a team.

This site: http://www.nbadraftroom.com/2017/08/immanuel-quickley.html projects him to be a mid-first round pick in either the 2019 or 2020 draft.

Then there is this one from a year and a half ago : https://inthegymrange.com/high-school-basketball-player-profiles-immanuel-quickley-1-3-17/

-He can knock down contested and uncontested shots. He has intangibles that are crucial for a point guard and aren’t measured in a box score. The players on Kentucky are going to love playing with Quickley. He is a player who makes everyone around him better. He has a very bright future ahead of him.

All this talk of Ashton coming in and Green coming back, but how do we know for sure that this young man isn't Kentucky's best incoming freshmen guard. He's rated as the 5th best PG in the class and 22nd overall which is only 10 spots below Hagans(using 247's composite ratings). Garland and Jones are only rated 8 and 7 spots higher, respectively.

He's good. A legit top 12 guy until analysts started nitpicking the mostly meaningless All-Star games in the spring.

I hope Cal goes three guard lineup at times this season. Spread out the opponent and let the bigs go to work.

Wouldn't be great if the coaches read the reports from the ASG and forget about him. If this kid sneaks up on people like the guy who thinks he could go 16th thinks then this UK team could be more special than even us fans realize. How scary is that.

P.S.,

Quickley would be the third highest ranked point guard in all the Sutton, Pitino, Smith, and BCG eras combined, behind only Turner and Rondo.

That is to say, we're living in a golden age when this kid might be our second or third best point guard on this upcoming team...

If only Cal could live 100 years and coach 90 of those years.

Who says he can’t? John Vincent Calipari will still be coaching here long after we’re all dead and gone. Long live the .. And for those about to Rock...

Amen to that.

Cal going after others guys after the Quickley signing mystifying made some feel like Cal was worried about him.

Totally not the case, though. Cal just happens to be a greedy SOB. Quickley will play in the NBA someday. 6'3" with length and handles and motor and shooting ability.

I'll drink to that.

Does anyone know what Coach Cal's stance is on helping out Brad to be the UK coach. Since they are father and son surely Brad wouldn't mind wearing an earpiece 24/7 while Coach talks him through everything he does basketball related until he dies. So, if coach lived until he was say, 100, he could be in Brad's ear for 25 years after he retires at the age of 75. Just a thought lol.

Interesting thought. However, I can’t imagine Cal ever dying. I really can’t. I realize the odds are against him, but he’s been known to defy huge odds against him many times.

I like quickley a lot, but I guarantee you he's a multi year player which isn't a bad thing. I'll permaban myself if he's better than a guard like hagans next season. Just isn't gonna happen. I'm very glad we have quickley, but he isn't hagans. I personally think he'll be somewhere around the 8th man in the rotation, but there's a good chance he plays himself into more minutes because he is really good, he just isn't hagans. Which isn't a bad thing, not many are hagans. 2 different types of guards who compliment eachother, but hagans could very easily be the best passing pg in the country next season to go along with maybe the best defender. Quickley will be a GREAT guard off the bench who plays smart basketball and plays within his game to go along with some stout defense.

Some reporter said the other day that the coaching staff expected this to be our starting 5:

Hagans
Quickley
Johnson
Washington
Travis

So apparently the coaching staff hasn't forgotten Quickley.

I hope Quickley sees a sophomore season, personally.

Hagans
Green
Johnson
Washington
Reid

If he’s good enough to go one and done off the bench then bless him. But that’s ^ UK’s best lineup.

Hagans is like Johnson in effort. Not a knock on Quickley. There is just a small amount of players that play with great effort all the time.
That really enthuses me about the potential of the defense on this team. Having a guy like Hagans in the back court, KJ on the wing to hopefully be lock down defenders. I feel good with EJ, PJ and Reid grabbing boards. We'll see what areas Nick improves in and by how much. No one can give an honest assessment until games come around.

I'd take another Cat in Miami with Bam! Need more reason to follow them.

Quickley has a 6-8 wingspan and was co-champ in the McD 3 point shooting contest with a kid most have going top 3 in the 2019 draft. Cal is recruiting like he expects both IQ and Hagans to be OADs.

Why does it matter who starts? I bet the frontcourt practice for playing time competition will be intense. Hagans, Quickley, Green, Baker, Herro, and even "Earned Not Given" (whom supposedly played well overseas with the Global Sports Academy team) all seem like kids who are ready to put everything out there to earn guard playing time. They ALL seem like excellent shot makers with play making ability off the dribble (maybe except Cal Jr.).

In horse racing you put your best stud out there to win the Derby. Calipari has the luxury this season to substitute a star horse with another star at each quarter mile without missing a beat.

If I'm the coach of any of the other 300+ NCAA basketball teams, then I'm JUST scouting UK's guard play I would be like:

Add in UK's frontcourt players and seeing their ability to set them up to score:

Dear NCAA basketball teams:

You're on notice. This team is going to be scary good.

Signed,

Mgmt.

I think this is how we start the year but someone could quickly replace Green as the need for shooting and defense at the 2 become an issue. We shall see. Still think EJ is first off the bench with IQ or QG as 7th man.

Define multi-year. If you think he'll be here more than two years then you haven't been paying attention the last nine years.

Green shot almost 40% from 3 last year and was playing damn good defense from February on. I’m not worried about those things with him.

Fake News.
Haven't you heard? Cal is impotent and ain't the Man he used to be.
I heard he can't recruit without Antigua. Not sure i believe that though :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I believe he would get #1 ranked classes if you and I were the assistants

Hagans is going to be a great facilitating pg with SEC 1st team defensive abilities. However, I don't expect his perimeter shooting to be much of an asset.
