The topic really didn't address very well the "bias." I am not sure you can say it is bias when Rat has the top 3 ranked High School players. He has an awesome class. Barrett is the best player in high school I have seen so far. Zion will be a monster on the inside. So, not chump change. But, Cal has surpassed the Rat now with more new talent that may be highly ranked just not as high. However, as I pointed out in another post, SGA, was one of our recruits that was not listed in the top 15 either, so at some point these rankings are not complete predictable measures on outcome.
For me, the ultimate key remains getting some of our players to return. I see PJ, Vanderbilt and Gabriel as crucial to has that inside proven presence.

Right - the bias reflects in the way the media covers i) recruiting and ii) K's flameouts in the tournament. And actually, I can't complain about the way the media covers recruiting. UK/Cal is given due credit, other than the occasional hit piece like the one that Goodman foolishly wrote a few weeks ago. The real way bias shows up is in the way tournament losses are covered. If Calipari did anything like what K has done the last two years - loaded with talent, arguably the best team in the country, early losses both years - the media would have a field day with it. Kentucky and Duke are, far and away, the two most hated programs in the country. And that includes media members. But for whatever reason, Calipari is much more hated than K, and it's reflected in the coverage.

I'm more interested in how the team is playing when March rolls around. Is the team peaking and ready to make a deep run? That's what I want to see.

I absolutely agree. K is a good coach, I don't think a rational person would say otherwise. But, his handling of Allen over the years was ridiculous and if Cal had a player like that and let it ride time after time, he would have been shunned by the media as a win at all costs type of guy. So, why wasn't K? The Bagley situation, how is that being completely ignored when a legitimate article exposed the payment to the family? Duke was pre-season number one? They likely will be again. Yet, with all that talent, K. couldn't lead them to the Final Four. In fact, they had a disappointing ACC and that was glossed over as well.

If there is any real bias it’s probably because K has five national championships. I don’t really see much of a difference in the way cal and k are covered. I remember espn skewering duke a couple years back after the losses to Lehigh and Mercer, and to a lesser degree two years ago against South Carolina. I definitely saw the media react negatively to cals recruiting strategy compared to when duke picked it up, but being the first to do something usually comes with more criticism than the predecessors. Still both coaches are universally hated
Whatever you say.

This. If Cal had a guy at UK like Allen and handled it the way K did, we would never hear the end of it.

I hate Duke but I really don't see any bias. They have the top 3 players in the class arriving on campus. Objectively, they have a better class than Kentucky.

I hope I am wrong and that UK's players end up being better but I would take Barrett, Reddish, Zion, and Jones > Johnson, EJ, Quickley, and Herro.

Is Hagans reclassifying to 2018 btw?

It’s trolling when you have 1 message and obviously blowing dukes 3 forwards. (All same position)

I am a UNC fan. Because I said Duke secured the 3 top ranked players in the class that counts as blowing them? Aight man.

Objectively, I don't see how UK has a better class. I would put them ahead of Duke IF Hagans reclasses though.

Not trolling but asking if Hagans is reclassifying?troll.

How is that trolling to ask if Hagans is reclassifying? I'm genuinely curious. I have seen reports saying his dad doesn't want him to but also have seen UK fans saying if he commits then he will reclass. Which one is it?

I apologize for not being 100% in the know about Kentucky recruits - which is why i'm asking a question since I assume fans on a UK message board would be educated about it.

Oh . . . The fact that you support The Filth from NC which are a bunch of cheating scumbags doesn’t really help your credibility.

Ok. Do you care to answer my question or just gonna call me a troll for asking if Hagans is reclassifying?

I just consider you irrelevant for supporting filth like NC.

Great conversation man! Sorry that you're still upset about not being able to reach the Final Four because of UNC.

Thanks again for answering my question. First and last time i'll be on this board. I forgot how uneducated and ignorant UK fans after all these years...

Good luck to UK with the new crop of one and done mercenaries though.

Yes it is widely believed he will reclassify. He has not yet so he can play in the AAU circuit. It would be a shock if he did not reclassify. 99% or greater chance it happens.

Those is glass houses should not throw stones. What is better, one and done players who do not want to go to school, or players who stay 3 years and do not invest in their education to the extent they require enrollment in fake classes in order to remain eligible? Rashaad McCants case alone makes Roy's first title a complete joke, something that WOULD HAVE BEEN VACATED had it occurred anywhere else, or if the governing body was not entirely corrupt and inept.

Thanks. I wasn't sure since I saw two conflicting reports.

No, I’m upset with that filth cheating college basketball for 20 years with classes so fake you got put on academic probation. I’m amazing you could support cheating filth like that. In terms of uneducated, we actually go to class. Not sure you are sufficiently educated to make that judgement.

Nice. As a non-athlete, I'll take an education from UNC over Kentucky, and so will almost any other person in the country.

You realize all players go to class right? They just don't necessarily pay attention and do the work.

Not so sure the Kentucky players, and one and done players in general, are getting an education in 6 months either.

Hmmm, history says different. Fake classes. 20 years. They didn’t attend class cause there was no class. Essentially they lied. That’s why SACS put them on academic probation. Sorry to break it to you, but you support the the filthiest cheating program in the history of college athletics.

You clearly don’t know know what a cesspool that place is. You should be ashamed.

What does that have to do with anything? Your school cheated for 20 years providing completely fake classes for black athletes giving them an advantage over the competition that had to go to class. Not only that it was racist- the bigotry of soft expectations cheating them out of an education.

Uneducated? Guess we should have signed up for those fake classes at UNCheat to get our edumacation, eh?

And we didn't make the FF because of a cheating, scum ref, not UNC. Video evidence is there.
