This is what you want in a ball player. What he lacks in physical gifts he makes up for with intensity and focus. The guys expression doesn't move. I bet he's a coach someday.
He has a 40 inch vertical leap...

Looks to me like he's got pretty damn impressive physical gifts too. The lift he got on those two big blocked shots was impressive as hell, and not just for a white guy, for anyone.

How the hell this guy was a mere three star ranked only 120th is beyond me. Especially when you see how crazy high they rank unskilled guys like Diallo and Richards. The recruiting rankings often just plain baffle me.

Very hard nosed, but he is 6'5 with a over 40 inch vertical. Kid is crazy athletic.

Bet he stays all four years.

Not likely, he is already 21. Think he comes back next year to be a starter but then he will go.

Someone asked Jay Wright after the game if he thought DiVincenzo had played his way into an early departure and he sounded totally baffled. Pretty clear that he doesn't think much about the NBA with his guys.

Exactly how Jay should think. He is being paid by Villanova to win games not be a NBA training camp.

CAL NEEDS to shake up the staff and bring in a guy to help run the offense bc the type of ball he promotes on the offensive end is not going to get it done in this day and age. Gotta have multiple threats on the floor at all times. Can’t have guys who cannot score or hit an open three. Maybe get to final four but not gonna win a title.

He was redshift for 2016...stay within a program for several years you will improve. Now our fanbase believes you are a bust if you don't perform as a NBA player from day one. Love the msg board cause shows everyones true colors...we lose at home, the world is ending, lose 4 in a row. People were calling for Cal to be fired... hilarious. Ignore button was used more this season than every season combined since 2006...mind you that's Billy G time...

I was very impressed with his game when I saw him play against Xavier in a late season game.

Great point. Can you imagine having a guy that can stroke it like that. Reminds me a little of Jeff Shepard. Can shoot it and more athletic than you think. I haven’t noticed his defense but I don’t think I care based on everything else.
Jeff Shepard came to mind as I watched him pick apart the Michigan defense. Crazy hops and a good jumpshot does wonders. Nice player, says he might start next year...LOL!!!

The kid was outstanding and played with tremendous confidence, but I was more impressed with the way they WHIPPED the ball around, our passing game needs to look at films of this part of Novas game our passing was lethargic looked like pouring sorghum molasses out of a jar.

Yep. From what I've seen, Nova is BOTH the best shooting AND best passing team in the country.

It's amazing what you can accomplish when you've got skilled shooters and passers at all five positions.

Briscoe was never used as a PG here at UK, he was played like a wing...not to his strength. Wish he stayed, he sacrificed two yrs for us for only our fanbase to cannibalize him

There was a reason he played at the wing here and not at pg. Ill tell you the reason if you promise not to get your feelings hurt.

I was impressed as well with how they shared the ball and tbh I was equally impressed with how fast those guys got to loose balls and rebounds. We improved in this area but too much of the season, we were way too nonchalant about possessing the ball.

My point, if you do not have shooters, then you can not open/space the floor to create driving lanes. A team full of athletic players that can not shoot won't win a natty. And you will see more and more lower level schools pulling upsets with players you never heard of that have sound basketball skills, play together and shoot well.

So true. Basketball skills beat athletes any day of the week. It is hard for youngsters to understand that because they love the slam dunks and the little dance an athlete does when he finally scores a basket. Meanwhile a basketball player is off and running. And you don't get extra points for making faces and flexing after you finally score. Our team can learn a lot from watch Villanova play.

Your right he should have been playing backup PG for 2 years and maybe started this year.

What I liked about his game and Nova's game was when they had a solid lead with 10 minutes left they didn't slow the game down and try to hold on for the win. They kept playing with intensity and kept running their offense. It was fun to watch that and I learned you can actually win a game doing that. I was not aware of that.

Ah the old "playing to win" instead of "playing not to lose" philosophy.

I wasn't aware myself.

If this guy comes back to Nova while we lose guys who aren’t half as good, you just gotta shake your head.

Just went back to look at Rivals 2015 recruiting rankings

10. Briscoe
120. DiVincenzo
122. Camron Justice -the kid from Knott Co. Central who transferred from Vanderbilt.

Got to question who ranks these kids and what criteria they use.

And for everyone slurping Don't right now, asking why Cal doesn't have players like him, it's called finding quality individuals. More and more info about this kid is revealing a somewhat questionable morality...allegations of homophobia and use of racial slurs in his social media, now the university is trying to sugar coat it...

Apparently the golden boy of the championship game has some racist/homophobic tweets in his past that were dug up today. Nova bball twitter account tried to claim his account was hacked and to disregard the false reports, but it was pointed out his tweets were from a few years ago and Nova deleted their tweet defending him. Interesting...

All it takes to be considered "homophobic" today is to simply not agree with the LGBTQ and you're "the devil."

Ah. Just read it. Quoting rap lyrics in high school and not being PC makes you the enemy of the speech police.

Point was Briscoe "sacrificed" as you say because he didnt have another option if he wanted to see the floor. He was overrated out of high school, rumored to be a handful for the staff, and oh boy, his shooting...smh. It is what it is. You dont need to bash the fans over this. He was given a bigger leash than most, far from being cannibalized.

People were asking how Cal can miss, just pointing why he possibly was.
Despite what you think of such things, it is taken into play when Coaches are evaluating you. If he came to UK, this would already been exposed and used as fodder to ''' prove how racist UK is...' giving factual reasons that is all.
Do I agree with it? No, but given the state of world right now, many programs would see red flags and pass.

Guess we have all forgot Harrison's comment in the post game after 2015 Wisconsin loss???
Not that I care but dont be hypocrites on here because this kid and Nova won a title.

They would have beaten us into oblivion.
