Time will tell if they are willing to give him more than two years.

If Wiseman is as good as advertised, it won't matter that much where he goes. If you're a guy not predicted to be top 5, then you're crazy not to come to UK, but top 5 guys will be lotto picks regardless. Certainly hope this doesn't change his mind.

I don't understand this hire. AAU straight to major college program. That's a big leap. I understand the recruiting piece; but just doesn't seem smart.
Since Cal what has Memphis done right, they are trying to recapture what Cal did. This is sorta like what UK did when they hired Mumme and it will not end well but Memphis is an afterthought in college basketball like UK was in football at the time the hire was made.If he happens to snag Wiseman then so be it,the inmates will be running the asylum from day one.

If Wiseman reclassifies then I think he would be smart to come to UK but if he does not he may want to wait and see how things go at Memphis then rethink his options.

If I'm Penny I bring in an assistant to help with Xs n Os then another recruiter that knows the ends and ours maybe Antiqua fill our ur staff with a defensive guy and look out. Either way will be interesting to watch.

Well my question is this. With his AAU coach going to college. Does that convince Wiseman to reclassify

#1 This has been done for months.

#2 Wiseman and his mother absolutely love Cal but Wiseman will play for Penny at Memphis...100%. And he will do so this next season.

#3 Cal knows this. Wiseman would have been at UK next season but with Penny...not happening. This is exactly why Cal has turned the heat up as high as it can go on E.J. Montgomery

I like Penny, a lot. Don't think he will succeed as a head coach probably. But, he is setup to do pretty well. Has a solid team returning, will be the "hot" name in recruiting and will land a few stars, and, IMO, he will get Wiseman to come to Memphis.

I've heard rumblings that Penny will bring in Larry Brown as assistant coach to help with the on the job training and help recruit. I don't know how I feel about that move lol.

So you know this but Kyle Tucker did a story on the kid a month ago and has no idea about any of it?

Yea...your Right. Wiseman & his mother are going to tell Kyle Tucker...lol.

Cal has known since he reached out to Montgomery...so at least over a month or so. They like Cal enough they were not going to leave him in the dark.

They don't have to tell him. The point is that he's connected enough to this to travel to meet the kid and write a story about him but hasn't heard any of this same scoop that you seem to know?

If you're just "reading between the tea leaves" because Cal recruited a forward for 2018, then maybe tell everyone that instead of acting like you have some inside story. Because one of those is definitive and the other is worthless.

Larry ''the next town" Brown is a 77 year old man with a history of violations following him around, if that were to happen Memphis would be watched like Hawk. I do think Penny would have to have a name guy to help coach and recruit, but him, I don't know.

If Cal knew that Wiseman was playing for penny next year why waste the time visiting him all three times that he dropped in on Jefferies? He may play for penny but people do crack me up a bit when they act like they have sat in on conversations between recruit and a coach. Time will tell

1) He isn't from Memphis so he isn't going to be sold on "helping your homeown college get back on the map";

2) If anything this might make him more likely to reclassify and come to UK next year. If he stays in high school he will have a new coach and he might rather have Kenny Payne coaching him next year. ;-)

Is that you Ryan Lemond? Its reading between the lines or reading the tea leaves. So you don't know anymore than the rest of us. You may be right in the end but "reading between the tea leaves" and stating it as fact isn't the best approach to take. You might want to qualify your opinions as opinions and not portray them as facts.

By the way, there's a huge difference between following your AAU sponsor to a loaded high school team where you can dominate and win national titles and showcase yourself on the big stage as a prospect and following your high school coach to a team that probably goes to the NIT.

Wiseman moved to Memphis East because it was the best move for him. Penny organized it. Going to Memphis over Kentucky would not be the best move for him.

He may stay home and play for Penny, but it'll directly contradict the type of kid he says he is as far as business decisions, being media savvy, building a brand, etc.

Penny is 100% to get recurits. Larry Brown was going to hire Penny as an assistant a while ago, now it will be the other way around.

Memphis is a dumpster fire now. Like UCONN, no major conference affiliation makes you second fiddle. Just a fact. The area is a top 10 maybe top 5 when it comes to recuriting.

He doesn't have to be a phenomenal coach, he has to be a phenomenal recruiter. His name alone will immediately make Memphis a threat to get top recruits. Supposedly bringing Larry Brown along with him which will help with the X and O's.
