Under option 1 you would have to pay every student athlete in every sport due to title 9. Colleges have tried to argue that self supporting sports programs (read football and basketball) should be treated differently than other sports. Unfortunately, that argument has failed in court numerous times.

Oh, I know it won’t work because why is it fair that the guy who can barely read gets paid but not the female volleyball player who busts her *** and gets good grades?

Maybe athletics shouldn’t be a part of college anyway?

For me....the same. I'm just disappointed we didn't find Duke, Kansas, players being paid a 6 figures to play there.

This is as widespread as I was hoping, thus likely making it impossible to nitpick individual programs for transgressions. I mean, ultimately, the NCAA isn’t the government, it’s an organization that wants to police itself but not kill its cash cows either. Many of the infractions seem to be the type where a player would repay the money and maybe sit out a few games. Not sure how you would handle that if the player is long gone from the program. But really, vacating wins and taking down more banners completely undermines the NCAA tournament which is not what the NCAA wants. I’m not sure what happens but I think the widespread nature assures the punishment will be lighter.

So I’ll admit to initially thinking about whether this could bump Kansas into 1st in the alltime wins list. Unfortunately some of our players stay all 4 years so I don’t think we come out ahead in such a scenario. Iowa State would be the big winners, the game with the suspect foul on Elijah at the end of regulation never happened.

Yeah, I'm gonna listen to how middle class white people have it made. My Papaw was a coal miner, my dad worked at an explosives plant and put himself through college, and I work at an aluminum plant as an operator. I've put in a ton of work to get where I'm at in life. Color does not affect work ethic or ability to succeed. The person does.

I’m not burying my head in the sand. Let’s assume Bam took the money- it was for him to go to NC State and sign with that agent. UK is not tied to it whatsoever. Now does that mean the wins will be vacated for last year? Maybe. But if UNC and duke are caught up in it too, I predict it won’t happen. If it does happen, vacated the wins from last year would suck but it isn’t a catastrophe. Why? Because our coaching staff wasn’t involved.

No worries. I said that this is an issue for us becasue the Bam situation looks just like the Camby situation. I have defended Calipari against that, and the same with the Rose SAT shenanigans. As was shown then, none of that mattered when the NCAA levied sanctions and THAT is what I'm concerned with. Our one saving grace in all of this is that it would from all appearances be that Bam took this money in an effort to steer him to NC State and that Mark Gottfried is who should be getting the heat for it. If true, you'd have to think that would help UK's case. I don't think it would change his eligibility and yeah we probably have to vacate last year. But would it mitigate any potential scholarship reductions or probation? In a common sense world you'd have to think so but this is the NCAA so who the hell knows.

Agreed. This was a nuclear strike to cause the most damage and distraction right before the NCAA tournament. They have sat on this until this moment.

I think now the NCAA would not vacate wins unless a coach knew about it....Secondly this is an FBI probe and supposedly sealed documents....I think too much is being made out of this.
