Not sure what to think about this. Not that it’s a huge deal since it’s moved only 15 minutes back. I am trying to be an optimist but this seems bad.

I honestly am going to give up trying to read into recruiting. We thought it was good AND bad (depending on HOW you viewed it) that Knox was announcing on Derby Day.

Turns out he didn’t even realize it was Derby Day until after the fact — so there was really nothing to read into.

We also usually think ESPN announcements help us — but then Knox just posted to Twitter and Instagram. Who knows..

I actually think he will do it at the time he's doing it so people will switch over to see who he announces for. I don't think he's worried about pissing off UK fans or Cal.

Common sense tells me ESPN Moved it back to insure the Kansas vs Baylor Game on ESPN and Tennessee vs South Carolina games will be over by then. That way they don't have to worry about the games still being on when the announcement takes place.

ESPN 2 has no game on after the Tennessee vs South Carolina game. This 15 minute push back allows them to insure no game should be airing during the announcement.

If so...and I state IF....P_SS on Zion...and the scuzz he road in on/ with....it would be a true character flaw. Anyone that would do that, UK and Cal are better off without. jmuo

Makes sense...That reasoning was beyond my scope but it makes sense. It seems every UK game starts late...Cal will be told by then anyway.

You’re a good poster but you’ve said this same type thing over and over and over and over. I’m pretty sure about 80% of the board thinks Zion doesn’t choose UK.

And yet we have 37 threads all clinging to hope and spotlighting garbage sources. We have a 500-post thread because of a blank account troll.

I like this forum, but it is apparent to me that people here are not being realistic, and many posters turn awful when we lose a game we shouldn’t or miss on a top recruit.

His announcement time doesn't mean Jack. He's going where he is going & coaches will already know where that is. I expect Clemson but the announcement time is no indicator. You guys read too much into anything.

I guess we get to find out next year if Zion is the next Trae Young. Or the next Collin Sexton, Brandon McCoy, Malik Newman, Caleb Swanigan, Jaylen Brown, Ben Simmons, Markelle Fultz, or the mountain of other prospects that spurned the bright lights of a big basketball program, only to have a quiet and unremarkable college experience.

Who was it that announced on ESPNU before that seemed like it was as long as an "Afternoon Special?"

It lasted an hour. Asking for a friend. [laughing]

Let me understand this, he decided to move it from our tip off time (8:15), to 15 minutes before and this bad? Why would you announce exactly at UK game day tip off time anyway, I think this is a good thing, it gives the game day crew time to comment on his decision before the game starts.

Those saying he isn't coming know as much as those saying he is. We will always have these type of recruiting characters but I love watching those school announcements when they pick Kentucky and their family is sitting there. The one with the Harrisons, and the one with Quigley literally made me tear up with pride. That's what, unfortunately, some of these recruits will never understand about the fans for Kentucky basketball. Sure, Clemson or South Carolina or most other schools have a basketball program but the significance is almost none for those schools. I watch some other games on occasion and the empty seats until those teams play a Kentucky (or for Clemson, a Duke or UNC) are frightening. Yes, they may be better attended with a major talent, but even LSU didn't exactly experience overwhelming meaning when Simmons attended. If Simmons had come to Kentucky his life experience and preparation would have taken on a whole different level. So, I hope Williamson doesn't make the mistake going elsewhere as he can't get back in a time machine years later for the once in a lifetime experience.

Well I would have taken Swanigan for two years. Otherwise most misses don't matter.

That's been going around. Bolden following Brad the day before, and I think Bagley did something similar too. Makes me think maybe he's picking Duke. I might stop watching cbb if that happens.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Duke. It sounds exactly like something that someone would do to run it in the losers face. I hope this is not the case on several levels. We need him and Cal doesn't deserve to have his face rubbed in it. I'm not accusing anyone, I'm just hopeful this scenario doesn't play out.

Right.

The point is that everyone is focusing in on Trae Young this year. Most players that go to smaller programs don't have that type of success. Maybe Zion will be great next year. Or maybe he will find out that without enough help around him more mature and physical athletes can take away what he does best.

I have never understood trying to "read the tea leaves" regarding recruits. If he comes, he comes; if he doesn't, he doesn't. Kentucky basketball was here before Zion, and it will be here after. With that being said, I think he goes to Duke, unfortunately. I won't wish ill will, nor will I root for him. GBB!

Sucks though, because all it takes is one for a guy to think he can do it too.
