Zion deciding soon?

If we lose Richards, Knox and Diallo and don't bring in Zion, we aren't even close to being a favorite or top 10 team to be honest, unless maybe we pull off Wiseman reclassifying and coming here. You can't expect to replace that level of production with what we have signed so far. Sure, they are some nice guards and I am glad to have them, but none of them are going to be able to replace Knox or Richards. Having Vanderbilt helps, but again he isn't going to make up for that either. It really all comes down to Zion or Wiseman for next year. I personally don't think Wiseman is reclassifying and from what I have heard from some people more in the know than I, it doesn't sound like the staff is as confident in getting Zion as they once were. Somehow Clemson and UNC are really heating up late in this one.

If we lose Zion, then I am definitely in the camp that there has been a change in recruiting that is troubling. That would mean that we have lost out on yet another Top 5 guy, which has become the norm in the past 3 years. That's not encouraging and suggests that it's something beyond just bad luck. It used to be that Cal had his pick of the top point guards every year. That's not the case anymore. He used to get some of best bigs too. Not doing that either. I don't think it can be pinned on just one thing though, which would be easier to address.

It could give a portion of the fanbase what it's always wanted though, and that's multiple players staying around longer. The question is will Cal stick around if he's no longer getting his pick of the litter. I think next season is going to a turning point to be honest. We could have a really good mix of returning players and a great class (if we get Zion). We'd have shooting, experience, and talent. We might not have great size though (if Nick leaves and Wiseman doesn't reclassify).

My biggest worry is no one knows who is coming back, latest mock draft only has Kevin k going in 1 st round. Looks like to me if he was going to Kent , he would wait and see who stays and who goes. Him making decision now makes me think he will not be a cat. I think its a coin flip between the 3 acc teams.

If he commits to KY now, he won't be able to sign until April so he could just de-commit then. I'm sure Clemson would take him then.

Wonder if seeing guys like Trae Young do you well playing for lesser schools will give players the hometown hero dream a little.

Clemson is not similar to the Young situation for Zion. Spartanburg is closer to Charlotte than Clemson or, at least, a similar distance away. Plus Greenville (size of Lexington) is close by too. It's a much different area compared to Oklahoma City.

Plus, Trae Young ended up ranked #23 in the composite recruiting rankings. I don't think there were a lot of people expecting this out of him. Porter, Bamba, Duval, and Ayton were the consensus top players.

I think there hes definitely been a change. However, Murray would have been a top 5 player in his class had he been ranked correctly. However, since he reclassified so late he wasn't. Fox was the best pg last year, IMO, and Cal got pretty much everyone he wanted last year except Bolden, which worked out ok. Cal also could have had Trae Young had he wanted, but I think we was focused on getting the best class instead of best player. With Young we likely don't get Knox, Diallo and possibly Richards and I think Cal felt as though Green would help secure Bamba. Obviously, that didn't all work out as planned, but you're going to have misses. However, I do agree that missing on Zion and the other top guys this year and next year is a little concerning. Hopefully we get him and all is well, but it's not looking as sure fire as once thought and as many on here like to believe.

We got Skal Labissiere just two years ago. Also this is pretty objective, "top 5", given we got Fox (#6) last year as well.

Why are you being such an *** in this thread?

I doubt you ever reach the level of respect @true blue1 has on this board.

I suggest you check out the username next time prior to being jerk.

Ugh maybe bc he says there is momentum with no facts to back it up. These guys come on here and make statements without knowing what they are talking about. I don’t like it

Zion to UK make absolutely ZERO sense at this point....epsically after signing Keldon Johnson coupled with what we will most certainly have coming back. hes going to UNC, it makes sense. Big name, close to home and definitely have a need for him.
Roy Williams will never recruit a top 10 player to UNC again. That is your fallout from decades of cheating and a coach past his prime.

You dont like it?

You have been here 3 months and you dont like something so you are going to be an ******* to respected posters?

Here is how that works, you dump on respected posters and no one else will take you serious and you will catch it from everyone.

I'd recommend an apology to true blue.

It's perfectly fine to disagree, but dont get sideways with one of the good guys, we save the harsh stuff for the trolls.

You don’t think we’re “close” to being top 10 best year if Diallo, Knox and Richards leave and not getting Zion?

I think and most others would agree that bringing back WG, shai , green , SKJ, TW, PJ, Baker, Vandy etc , along with getting Quickley , Herro , Keldon , etc etc puts us in VERY good position. Certainly top 10. At least.

Im just saying that in my opinion they are gonna get Zion...I think Roy will sell him on playing in the ACC and getting to go head to head with Duke and Barrett and company....in the end I think it will work. Im more than happy with what we will have next year without him.

That roster is essentially KU this year and I have a hard time believing they are truly top 10 at the moment. It's guard heavy, albeit good guards, but extremely thin and unproven front court players. Gabriel and SKJ are getting better, but they are far from consistent or the type of players you want going 30 + min, at least currently. Gabriel has yet to show anything other than energy and the occasional 3. Tai Wynyard is in year 3 and is still lucky to get minutes, let alone do anything with them. Seems like a nice kid, but he's a practice and garbage minutes player at best. Hopefully PJ sticks around and improves... a lot. He could be beneficial. If Vanderbilt gets a shot at the first rd. he gone. Too much to lose with another foot or leg injury. Just way too many question marks at this point to think that would be a top team without Zion or wiseman.

I went through the same crap when I posted what I was hearing about Andrew Wiggins when his recruitment was winding down . I don't have "sources" but I did in that situation because I had a connection with the host family. People here tried to run me off the site .

This- no appeasing some fans unfortunately:/

Say everyone Sans Diallo, Knox and maybe Richards returns ... that’s AWESOME imo ... shows Cal is “adapting” and attempting to bring in some guys who are very talented but not necessarily 1 and done.

So should we be able to recruit numerous top 6 players each and every year PLUS return numerous 5 stars?

If we bring back the bulk of our team , to go along with who we are currently bringin in (plus possibly Moses etc ) then we are top 3 (deserved ) next season and a favorite to win it all (yet again) with our without Zion

What are you two even talking about when it comes to my quote? I don't expect much from @brianpoe these days, you on the other hand.. Surprised to say the least.

I've been saying all year that I'm fine if these guys come back. I welcome it. But it does mean recruiting could take a hit. I also don't care if they all left and it opened up playing time for Zion and others.. both scenarios work.

My point is that as of now we have a lot of returning guys. That shouldn't scare off Zion.. But maybe he wants to be "the" guy on a school like NCState or Clemson. The fact he's considering those schools, says he has some of that mentality. I just don't love the idea of him committing soon. IMO, if he waits until Spring, he's waiting to see what we do, which is good.

My post wasn’t directly referring to you. I meant just overall/ what I’ve noticed from other posters (not you) when it comes to roster turnover / our “bad recruiting hauls” etc

I think we do in fact need him next year and hope like hell we land him.

Yes , I don't remember you being around in those days but I knew his "host" family pretty well . They are huge UL fans though. They also hosted the center that went to UL a few years earlier. I posted what I was told by them to try and prepare people for the disappointment but it was not received well . People will attack you for posting negative things, even if they are the truth .

CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIGURE OUT WHO IS IMPERSONATING ME? My name is Ciprian Zisu. I have no affiliation or clue as to who is posting on here pretending to be me. I would love to get some idea, someone has been impersonating me on fb and I already have an attorney trying to track down IP addresses to try and figure out who is doing this to me. Whoever you are, if you are watching this, this is now a legal matter, it is no longer a joke.

My SOURCES are saying UNC is OUT. Down to UK/Clemson/NCst

So whoever you are, I AM the real ciprian zisu, and I have already hired an attorney to help me track down whoever has been pretending to be me on facebook through an IP address. You are next. I will give you a day to come forward, or I will let my attorney do his job.

Let me give you some free advice. Your attorney doesn't want you to engage in this kind of self help. If you have indeed hired an attorney, just let him work.

Wow... this thread went to hell QUICK! :joy:
It is not so funny for me unfortunately. Funny enough my stalker/impersonator first started in October of this year, and I notice the impersonator on here also "opened" this account using my name in the same month.

I’m not. I do think Williamson is key for us next year and he will be our identity. Matter of fact, if Cal can get ZW and Wiseman for next season, I don’t care who comes back.
