Also cool: Defensive linemen wearing numbers in the 80s.

I've got some teacher friends from back home chaperoning the senior trip to New York and they provided pizza the first night of the trip. So where do they decide to get pizza in the pizza capital of the world? Papa John's. o_O

Well the papa did just recently publicly ***** about Jurich, so I give them a pass.

He wanted to play LB and didn't want to hear otherwise. UK agreed so that they could get him. Although he was pretty good against the run he was GD awful in pass coverage and teams exploited it series after series.

Didn't Johnson have stubby arms? I thought that was a reason why he wasn't put at DE. I walked past him once and he might be the biggest SOB I've ever personally seen up close.

Too short to be a first round DE but that guy was a monster.

He was a rich person's Myron Pryor and should have played DT.

Hell, he played MLB at 260 or so and had to keep his weight down. He could have easily gotten to 290 and been hell on wheels.

Pizza capital of the world
Sao Paulo is considered, hands down, the Pizza Capital of the World, besting even New York City. It is worth mentioning that Italians make up the largest group of immigrants in Sao Paulo, eclipsing even the Portuguese population there by almost two to one.

According to Bing.

Will always wonder if Smith could have been another Feldhaus. Helluva basketball player. Great touch.

I filled in for my buddy's annual, night-before-Thanksgiving, family (& some friends) Euchre Tournament/Drinking/Gambol guys' night. It's been going on in his family since at least the 70's. And these guys have also been playing Euchre together every week in the summer for years (after their golf league night).

I hadn't played Euchre since high school, barely remembered the rules, and warned him as such.

I did pretty well because I played with a strategy they loudly termed, "A BACKWARDS-*** WAY," since my moves followed no known logic. By the end, I somehow won a ziplock bag full of quarters and at one point I won a hand somehow and a guy jump up from the table and screamed, "THIS MOTHERF***AAAHHHH!!!" I don't remember what i did exactly, but my partner loved it.

Haven't been invited back, TIFWIW.

Yeah, but there is a high probability of being murdered in Sao Paulo.

-No idea what Euchre is or how to play it. Now Spades on the other hand, that's a game right there.

-Dating Florida girls...man they are so accustomed to warm temperatures it's ridiculous. This gal refuses to put her AC lower than 77 because after that she gets cold. I refuse to stay at her house because it's 77 DEGREES in there. She stayed at my house one time with AC on 69 and I woke up to her teeth chattering.

Had a buddy down here from Tampa that would sit in his house and watch the Rays play, mid summer, no AC on at all.

-Conchs with a home game in Regionals tonight. I know where I'll be.

-In a gym funk right now. Just not bringing it and haven't had the right mindset. Need to fix that.

-Was grinding HARD for the last couple months as in 10 shifts/week between my 3 jobs. Decided to cut that back for a bit. Only working 4 now which is about 24 hours/week.

-Cuba vacation coming soon. I've heard great things about it so far and I'd really like to get down there before it's just Starbucks and McDonalds.

Care to tell me how I should ride a bike instead of filling up my truck because that just gives money to the Saudis who repress women and fund terrorism?

Euchre games can and often do end in violence, especially among family around the holidays.

In college I saw more than enough people crawl while getting their *** kicked and **** thrown at them after losing 10-0. Luckily they were all active members and not pledges. But for each and every crawl the violence seemed to escalate.

-Took off work yesterday after a pretty decent Derby effort. That's the play from here on out. Usually try to just fight through it but those days are over.

-The TwinSpires live-betting app is a real easy way to lose the shirt off your back. Deduct right from your bank account, never have to mess with the line at the betting window, and 2 minutes till post you can find yourself deciding it *is* a good idea to make 35 superfecta bets right from your phone.

-Did ok thanks to a couple decent payouts and my wife picking the Derby Exacta (based on no information whatsoever about the horses, obviously).

-Porcini's on Oaks night. Food was excellent. Place was really hopping. Patrons from the track with soaked pant legs, random mud splatter on their outfits- but I liked the way the crowd was pressing through it. Play the hand you are dealt, and whatnot. Said it before but when you combine atmosphere and food- Porcini's and Jack Fry's are my go-to places in Louisville.

-Derby morning the forecast seemed to keep getting worse and worse, but when we got there just around 11:30, everything seemed to clear up for the most part. Probably a good 20 minutes of rain for the day, but we were shielded from anything too bad. Took a first timer out there with us. My sister brought her boyfriend from Boston- the look on people's face when they ride across Central Avenue for the first time is amazing. Not exactly the scene they show you on TV.

-Folks in the box next to us bust out 3 2-liters of ginger ale, all filled with mostly bourbon. Thought that was a bold move, moreso considering they were maybe 60+ years old. They crushed it for sure. We were content with a handful of mini's and $14 beers. We surrounded by a good group of people for the most part. Always enjoy talking with out of town folks about Derby weekend. Its tough to find someone who visits for that weekend and doesnt really enjoy themselves. If they dont, its likely their own fault.

-The valet lot after the race was a mess. Lordamercy. Of course everyone drives with a good buzz that day, but the biggest feat is actually getting your entire group to the car at the same time. Lost count of how many cars the valet would pull up only to have some of the group had wandered off somewhere. The they would just be stuck- no cars could go anywhere until they found everyone. The slow drive out of there, bobbing and weaving to avoid pedestrians is hilarious. And dangerous, I guess.

-Butchertown Grocery for dinner that night. Was excited to try the place out and from what I recall it was really good. I was, however, a bit over-served and didnt appreciate it fully. Will have to try it again on a regular night. Our waitress was a saint for tolerating us.

-Derby participation may be limited in the future as I'm supposed to make appearances at commencement down here with is always the same day. If this was the last time for awhile, i'm content with the effort and the outcome.
