THE SKY IS FALLING!!!! WE MAY LOSE A RECRUIT WHO WE ALL SAID COULDNT SHOOT BUT IS A SHOOTING GUARD!! Oh the humanity!!!!!!
Uh, there were concerns about his shooting had he played this year with Briscoe but since the season ended all I've seen on this board is that he'll be one of our top two players next year.

What if he leaves and we start Quade/Cam/Vanderbilt/Washington/Bamba?

Would that be terrible?

Of course that lineup is as hypothetical as counting Diallo out.

I'm not convinced about that. I think he will return but if he doesn't UK will still field a contender.

Sure, but you cant have it both ways like many on here are stating.

If he goes it was the dumbest move Cal ever made. If he stays Cal is great and we have a stud SG...
Well some are saying that the coaches wanted him to play and he refused.

I have also heard that Cal knew ahead of time that Diallo likely would never play a game in college.

If either of those are true then it was a wasted scholarship.

IMO he should have played in the tournament. He might have helped us against UNC when our entire starting lineup had to sit the first half due to foul trouble.

Generally speaking, I fail to find a silver-lining if Diallo goes pro this summer.

I don’t think UK had a great shot at a title next year, even with Diallo/Bamba, but being in the discussion does matter. Diallo/Bamba put UK in that discussion. Cal has helped shape a UK program with a foundation of being relevant annually. Guys like Diallo make that foundation a reality, both in their one year at UK and long-term.

Not having him on the roster next year would suck. He’s not a spring-time signee. He’s a guy who was promoted for four months along the lines of “don’t come here if you aren’t playing next season.” Those were Cal’s words, and again, if Diallo bolts, Cal would have been wise to have never made them public knowledge.
Sooooo, IF He leaves. He lied to Cal and we are to blame Cal for this kid lying to him. IF....

There is no silver lining if he goes.

It will suck. But if the kid changes his mind no need for everyone to dump on Cal but the haters have red meat...

I'm thinking 2019 is our year anyway and Diallo would be long gone by then either way.

How friggin stupid are you to make a statement like that? Cal encourages all of his players to put their name in the draft. Keep your big boy panties on and suck it up. He's coming back. And, even if he doesn't, what is it to you?
Oh yea what's it to me? Why, as a lifelong UK fan would I care that a kid came here for a semester, never does a damn thing for us and then uses us to get rich?

Oh I don't know, probably because I'm a UK fan first. This players first garbage is getting old. We lose an insane number of players each year compared to every other team yet we aren't getting that same type of return when it comes to titles compared to every other team.

This all goes back to Cal. This keeps happening to us because of the type of kids he attracts here. Not every top player wants to bolt after year. But Cal has made it to where all of those types are the ones lining up to come here and it leads to situations like Diallo, Briscoe and so on.

No one knows all of the conversations with his coming on board.

We do know that Diallo expected to be back, at least he said this.

And we can be pretty sure that Cal expected the same.

But if he gets good feedback Cal cant stop him.

And Cal wasn't going against his word and playing the kid against his will this year. How would he do that anyway?

Negative PR? That is comical.

People are NOT upset that Diallo received a free education, free lodging, or instruction from college coaches.

That is a lie.

All of us are upset because we may be without our SG next year and it will hurt our season.

Please dont try any of this crap about the expenses when most on here want UK to spend a billion dollars for a new arena.

Saying Cal allowed the kid to not fulfill his end of the bargain is another weird and thoughtless remark in this tirade of yours.

Wouldnt be surprised if the NCAA comes up with a rule about this in the near future. This is a bad look for college basketball. Kids enroll early, practice for 4 months and go pro. This will be the new trend, and the NCAA will get with the NBA and try to stop it, if they can.

It doesnt matter if he refused.

Cal said publicly that he would play him until Diallo felt he was ready. Gave his word.

No way in the world Cal knew he was leaving before he gave the kid the scholarship.

That would be insane even for Cal.

You would think he would be ready by tourney time.

That said we were on one of the hottest win streaks at the time and our rotation was set, so who knows?

UNC 1st half....

Did Cal actually ever say that? Not disputing you, but I can't find it.

All I could find was Cal talking about him having a head start and being in position to lead next year.

How many times do I have to say that I was quoting the player and his coach?

I'm sorry that confuses you, but reading your posts I'm not surprised.

I'm also not sure that you are worthy enough to pick on @ulismyman with these mind-numbingly awful posts of yours tonight.
Yea ... Because I want more titles I'm a clown... Get out of here asshat ....
You get ripped on for wanting titles. I bet Alabama fans were ecstatic they didn't beat Clemson. Probably jubilant they made the title game.

I don't blame anyone for being aggravated. It isn't Diallo's fault for this setting people off, but it has contributed. When you have a guard that can't shoot and isn't overly athletic and a seldom used bench player announce they are leaving for sure right before this, everyone is already going to be frustrated. Then you have Diallo announce he is testing the waters and it feels like a shot to the nuts.

Even if he has said he was going to see where he stands and return it just feels like he is gone already when he is a much better prospect than Briscoe or Humphries are. I'm ready for the NBA to go back to letting high school kids go straight to the NBA, but if they don't, make it so they have to commit to college for at least 2 full years. I like getting all these top recruits, but I also like to enjoy watching these guys for more than a year.

You'd think the NBA would run out of roster spots for all the one and done players constantly joining the league. Is the league just constantly cutting veterans to make room for them and making teams younger and younger?

I hope you're right. What Hami said didn't sound too encouraging but he left a door open to return so we'll see. If he doesn't come back, I think we're a borderline top 15 team if we add Johnson and Bamba but not sure if we'll have quite the upside to improve as drastically from the regular season to March as we've been most seasons.

Handwringing: Level 1000000000000000000000000

Setting the over/under at 10 pages.
You missed by a mile.
It's not the hand wringers. It's the ******* that have hard on for Cal. that couldn't complain for the last two months. There basking and going apeshit.

Over under on the "I knew it", "tired of this" "players first". "Titles only matter"? .......98
