Ugh. If Bam stays in the draft and we don't get Bamba, we will have SKJ as our backup to Richards. Could be a rough year.
I'm not so sure. Ask me where I'd rather have depth of talent, and I'm going with forward, particularly guys who can realistically play the 3 or the 4. UK has been severely lacking that for years now- 2 years playing mainly 3 guard lineups, the year before playing a lot of 2 big guy lineups. With Vanderbilt and Washington, that time has ended, and those 2 combining for 65 mpg wouldn't be a bad thing, as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't be all that uncomfortable with a Vanderbilt/Washington/Richards frontcourt, or with Diallo playing some 3. And that's not even mentioning Gabriel. Yeah, just having Richards/SKJ/Wynyard as true big guys is dicey, but that's 2 Mickey D AA's who clearly have a lot of physical tools.

But I think UK gets Bamba. I think he's just waiting on Bam. And if Bam stays, and no Bamba, it's still a pretty nice roster.

Any chances he goes overseas for a couple years then transformers into a poor mans Mark gasol or Joker from Denver? If he can learn to pass he has potential.

This is out of hand. This thing Cal has started in 2009 is now getting old. We have guys trying the pro game when they are no where near ready.

No wonder the NCAA sticks it to us, it seems college kids hate college here.

This is bad

another black eye to the program.

I seriously hope you are kidding. What possible case can you make that how Cal is doing it is hurting the program. According to you this is "another black eye". What was the first?

Good luck to you Isaac!

Quick question guys... What do you think our interior defense will look like next season if we fail to land another big?

I'm liking the idea of Richards and Washington holding it down at the 4 and 5. We already know Washington is gritty and Richards looks the part of a center.

This is dumb he won't get drafted and Cal can't keep a 4 star long to save his life.

If this went on at KU/UL/Duke/UNC you would be saying it looks awful they leave like this.

Dude shut up

Get a grip. The kid has spent three years a long way from home and family. He can go home, get paid a decent sum to play in Australian leagues, improve, and maybe still have a shot at the NBA. Ferguson spent a year in Australia and is now projected as a lottery pick.

Sad to see him go just after we got a glimpse of what he could be. I wish him all the best. If Cal keeps recruiting great kids like Humphries, Briscoe, Wiltjer, Lee and all the rest, I have no complaints. We could be watching the news for domestic violence claims like KU fans. Or hooker claims like UL. Or decades of fraudulent degrees like UNC. I'll choose what we have.

Amazing that so many guys coming to a "player's first" program are so anxious to leave.

He's going to be buried on the depth chart this year and probably next year. If you realize your future is likely playing back home in Austrailia, then go ahead and pursue that. This was his year to play, and he could barely earn minutes.

He's not "jumping to the league," like you guys cry about. He's essentially transferring home to play professionally because he knows that's his end result anyway. Good for him.

Would have liked him back, he's still very young, but playing and getting paid for it sounds a lot better than being glued to the bench for most of each game.
Exactly! Why sit and never progress? I really hoped he would have transfered to another D1 school, but that would have been a wasted year too.
Will Tai be next? He was the kid fans was screaming for to see action his 1st month here. He barely sniffed a minute his time here. You have to have big body practice players to develop your 5star big men, but making them buy into the system is the key

We will be fine. People have already forgotten Gabriel and SKJ and Wynyard it seems. We have a bunch of bigs. If those guys stay we will be good. Young dudes can get better. And big young dudes can all of a sudden have the light come on and the difference is night and day.

Lol not a black eye at all. It is sad that some of these guys leave with no chance to make it to their dreams but it hasn't hurt us at all.

So we have Wynard, SKJ and Gabriel coming back as of now (besides walkons)?

I've heard rumblings that all three were possibilities to leave after the season ended ... could you imagine if we didn't return a single scholarship player - would have to be a first ever in college basketball.

I don't understand the blame on Cal for this. What is Cal supposed to do? Get Humphries in a headlock and make him stay if he wants to leave? This doesn't seem like an NBA draft type of decision with Hump , the kid just wants to be somewhere else.

There is a chance Bam returns and/or Bamba comes to UK. Is it fair to blame Hump for leaving, when he would potentially be buried on the bench? Or Cal could have just turned the reins over to Hump and not have recruited Bamba? Would that have been better to you?

*Side note: I can't believe I spent the time I did replying to a poster that is either a troll or an awful example of a UK fan.

Personally I am happy for the kid, and I hope he is prosperous and makes best with what he has. So many grumpy people here. We are going to continue to get awesome talent yearly.
