I really doubt we lose to a low seed that early, but if that's what he's saying, I don't blame him. What have we done to show we can beat anyone? We hardly get by the bottom dwellers of the SEC some nights.

Something happen to Greenburg. He is now one of our biggest critics.
I don't think anything happened to him - I think he's just telling it as he sees it. A team that doesn't show a lot of fight, a team that is indifferent to defense, a team that once you take away transition looks pretty ordinary. He's always a big fan of Cal's teams, because it's easy to be a big fan of teams that are hard nosed and compete and play tough defense. That's not us this year, and he's just doing what he's paid to do.

That Seth Greenberg is crazy...I hope he's watching how well we are playing tonight. No way this team could lose in the first weekend.

The fact that he is making these comments while UK is riding a four and about to be five game winning streak and has UF in Rupp Saturday reeks of hate.

We are playing pretty damn good ball these days.

WHAT?? Really? That's just dumb actually. It doesn't "reek" of hate, it's "reeks" of honesty. What team are you watching?

I get that you're the ultimate optimist but you take it way overboard into making yourself look foolish and you lose credibility when you do say something worthy. It takes away from what you say when you make a legitimate point taking up for the team. But you've got to be honest and call a spade a spade sometimes. Doesn't mean you're any less of a fan, just means that you're honest and realistic.

Having a 5 game win streak in the SEC doesn't mean much. We still aren't a very good team right now and it's obvious, and it's ok to admit. It's just reality. We've still got time to turn it around and start playing better. It is what it is at the moment and fact is we just have a lot of holes to shore up before ANY analysts believe we have a shot at the FF. I'm sure he's not the only one saying or feeling that way. It's definitely a possibility for us to go out the 1st weekend. Better teams than ours have been beat that first weekend.

He is just going for ratings. I doubt he honestly thinks that, especially without looking at the brackets. People wrongly pick winners in the tournament all the time. If he picks against UK in the first weekend then he loses the points in whatever contest he's in.

While last night was disappointing, I would ask him if he feels the same way about Baylor who barely beats 9-18 OU at home last night and Arizona which struggled to beat 9-18 Washington last weekend.

What have you seen from this team the last month to suggests that he's wrong? We've played 1 quality game, the last UT game, every other game was a shitshow.

Perfectly reasonable opinion to have. We do not look like a top-tier team.
My position is that you never know.
1. Cal's team often turn it up in the tourny
2. This team plays up or down to it's competition most of the time. Except Fla at Fla
Beat North carolina, lost to UL by 3 there, lost to UCLA by 5 or 6 yada yada
3. They may not be a top tier team but 23-5, and ranked #11 ain't chopped liver

I am going to let it play out and see what happens

With the way we've played of late it's not totally unrealistic, IMO. While I think we win our first game, anything after that is gravy.

I'm of the opinion this is a group of really talented basketball players who have not become a team, and at this point in the season, it's unlikely they'll become one now.

There's no question they CAN be that team, we've seen it, even of late: the UT game at Rupp. In that game they looked like a team; passing the ball around the perimeter like they're supposed to, looking for the open man, etc., etc., etc. But by and large this isn't a team that makes me think they can string together 6 wins against ever increasingly better competition.

I'd LOVE for them to prove me wrong, and I hope they do, but I've lowered my expectations for this season, so if they somehow do turn it on and make a run, it will be a very pleasant surprise.

I definitely think we make it past the first weekend, but it isn't THAT crazy a prediction.

A team that struggles to beat Georgia at home and loses to Tennessee on the road is a team that could definitely lose to a 7 seed in the tourney.
I still think Greenburg made a crazy prediction This team isn't that bad at 24-5 and 14-2

Guys,

Greenburg has been EXTREMELY complimentary towards our program in the past. He and Cal are pretty good friends. He's not a hater just because he picks against us or doesn't like how we are playing. NEWS FLASH: We are not very good right now. We have some serious holes that we need to shore up before the tournament. He's just going by what he's seeing right now but we've still got time to change things around.

It's not a completely absurd notion that we get beat in the first weekend and it's definitely possible, no matter what some of you say. There have been plenty of teams better than ours that lose to a 7/10 or 6/11 seed. It happens every year and it's not a crazy idea that it could happen to us this year if we don't get better. Truth is that we just aren't very good right now. I'm by no means agreeing with him at all but I don't think he's a hater for thinking it could happen. He's always been complimentary towards the team and the fan base as well. Relax. That's what these guys are paid to do.
Newsflash we are getting better

You really didn't see any fight in this team? You not watching
