I give props to our guys for making enough plays to get out of there with a W, and no more.

When Monk isn't hitting our weaknesses pop out. Lack of interior scoring outside of Bam and at times bad pick and roll defense.

Why did we go back to switching on picks again? Against Ole Miss, A&M and Ark we went over/under picks while flashing a help defender and it worked well. Nothing like seeing Bam guard Lachance at top of the key on skates and give up that 3.

- As piss poor of a defensive gameplan we've had since Cal got here. Switching everything then having our 4-spot pressure guards 10 feet outside the three point line isn't just asinine... it's setting players up for failure.

- Nothing Gabriel does justifies the amount of minutes he gets at this point.

- "Layup or 3" can be an efficient offensive strategy. "Layup or long 2 by subpar shooters" is just infuriating.

- Bam's rebounding is inadequate. I mean, he had no one that could even box him out tonight and he still was just average.

- I guess it's good that the freshmen see the SEC isn't just going to be one big party. These dudes- namely Monk- seem like they need to be reminded to stop reading their press clippings every now and again.

- That last offensive board Willis gave up was disgraceful.

- All that said, tonight really just came down to one of the too-many games where the SEC refs decide we came to watch them and muck up an entire 40 minutes.

Just because one team had guys who could guard 5 positions doesn't mean that every one does. It would be nice, but it's just not happening. That kind of switching defense hinges on having gigantic guards like the Harrisons or versatile interior defenders like Davis, Kidd-Gilchrist and Cauley-Stein, or both. That's a schematic issue.

Listened to a podcast that had DeCourcy on it a few weeks back and Bam's progress from decent to dominant rebounder was the number one issue with us that he pointed out.

Ever since, I've been paying more attention and he's right- dude should be around 9-10/game.

Cal just admitted on post game that he shouldn't have gone back to switching on pick n roll defense. Said he thought it was a good matchup for it but should've adjusted. I like that.

He obviously did it because Kornet just floats around and takes 3s, but LaChance can still hurt you off the bounce. He should've known that. We've only played that dude 25x.

@ Vandy is always a "get a w and get the hell out game". Mission accomplished.

I mean, could you imagine being at the dinner table with Crean and Harbaugh? That family should have a reality show...it's the perfect storm of weird, intense, crazy, and just plain damn creepy.

Have to give credit to Leonard Hamilton. Can't keep that guy down for long. Every time you think he's dead in the water he comes back with a killer squad that's a reflection of him as a coach.

And no matter how his team is, it feels like he beats Duke at least once every year. Good job by him.

The pick n roll crap and Willis being a soft *** are my issues big picture but in the moment I need to remind myself that conference play is weird and such a grind.

Look at Kansas right now getting taken by a really bad Oklahoma team.

I would have really liked for him to have quit doing, DURING the game, when he should have realized it wasn't working. Typical Cal deflecting after the game if you ask me

Meh. Plenty to ***** about. Switching everything comes to mind. However, never thought we'd lose and we constantly responded in that ******** even with foul trouble and our top scorer having an off night. Next.

Never thought we were going to lose either, and we have ****** luck in that gym. Considering Monk/Fox pick up 2 fouls 4 minutes in and we went into half up with Bricksoe and his Merry Men I'm happy to get out with a W and move on.
