Briscoe has NO court vision whatsoever. All he sees is the basket. Never kicks to an open man. Their bigs are physical and push our bigs out of the way on rebounds. And we've let them dictate the pace the last 5 minutes of the second half. Need to get Monk more involved in the second half. We will be fine as long as we play at our pace.

How can Mulder be a worse option than Hawk or Wenyen? Need some shooters out there. D is suspect, but so is everyone else's today.

Give credit where credit is due... when we're losing that doesn't ALWAYS mean it's because we played terrible

Gotta establish the post to start the 2nd. UCLA bigs both have 2

We outplayed them in Q1 and they outplayed us in Q2.

They just outhusteled us by a lot which is most frustrating.

Bam played the best he could. It Ball has hit a couple of those from that far and further in previous games so it wasn't a prayer. Every single there UCLA has made including that are threes they have hit in previous games

Bam did exactly what he should have short of blocking it. Ball just threw up a 25 ft prayer and hit it.

Good for this team to get a reality check

-that defense is for 40 minutes
-setting up your teammates for the best shots works
-rebounding the ball is key

Time for adjustments from the coaches.....

Now we get to see what this team is made of. Do they come out and play or do they shrink away...my money is they come out and play.

60% shooting for the Bruins, 50% for three. Aside from the barrage of turnovers within the first 6 minutes of the game, they played darn near a perfect half and lead by 4 thanks to a tough 3 pointer at the buzzer. Very good team but will take another half like that to pull it off. Look for our defense to be better in 2nd half, cats still pull this out by 7-10.

You take the ball out of Monk's hands and put the ball in Briscoe's hands, and this is what you'll get every time.

Because they're both better defenders-

offense isn't the problem when you're on pace to give up 100

What sucks about this half to me is it's clear we are the better team. But the wrong guys are shooting the ball. So many breakdowns on defense.
You have to think Ball will get it going in the second half. Our guys better step up.

Indeed. This game shows why I kept telling people to calm down after UK kept blowing out bad teams, now they are playing a top 10 type team at home and it's not so easy. So glad this game wasn't at home or neutral site because UK would probably be down by double figures. I'm betting Cal is peeling the paint off the locker room with his words at halftime.

This half will really show what UK is truly made of, excited to see what they do one way or the other

I'm glad the Maryland fan and the Kansas fan are here to explain things to us.

This half has taught us that UK needs to work on their defense, Hump isn't ready vs good teams, three point D needs work, need to look inside more, Cal doesn't have faith in Mulder in big games, Wenyen is NOT a good defender, the guards can score on other good guards but can get scored on by other good guards, Bam needs help down low
Spot on analysis. I think we will get better. This type of game was needed to get the young guys' attention.

Well UCLA is playing about as well as they can play, I don't believe they can shoot that well the whole game, I just don't. Kentucky will be fine, UCLA is a good team but I think we get it together the second half.

I'm not able to watch the game today. Is the defense that bad or is UCLA better than I thought? Combination of both?

Cal really has his hands tied with Briscoe. He clearly cannot shoot. He plays D well enough and gets to the rim, but there is just not enough floor balance beacause of his atrocious shooting. For all he does well, his inability to shoot the ball will cost us a handful of games. Cal needs to recognize that this is one of those games.

Also, no more Hump. Play Willis behind Adebayo, or let's see Jones.

Get UCLA a little credit for playing solid defense with a good game plan. They want anyone other than Monk or Willis to take outside shots and prevent drives or entry passes to Bam. The problem is that U.K. Is falling in the trap and settling. Several outside shots for Briscoe and Fox. Also, Monk's shot is a touch off today so far.

On defense, UK is so scared to foul that they are not being that aggressive. It is a catch 22 situation because I understand we don't want Fox, Monk, Briscoe, or Bam in foul trouble. None of them are so hopefully they can be a little more aggressive in second half.

Stop blaming refs. We were horrid on defense and I have no idea what Cal is thinking with some of these moves. It's exactly the way you DON'T play UCLA.

Well we were completely outplayed in the first half. Didn't really expect that but this team needs to be in a battle.
Disagree, I can't remember feeling this confident about being the better than the opposition, yet trailing at the half. Bad off-balance and 30-ft shots can't fall forever. Keep playing our game, and the cream will rise to the top.

Hey. They hit shots the last 10 minutes. I think we will be ok. Glad the refs started calling over the back fouls FINALLY toward the end of the half on UCLA.

Fox leads the Cats with 12 points. Monk has nine, and Adebayo has seven points and five rebounds.

I mean they are a real good offensive team. You had to know they were gonna hit their share of 3s

Thankfully we've turned them over. They usually take better care of the ball or we might be down by more.

I still think we pull this out tho
