Yup, the Monk = Goodwin take is lazy. Thanks, Joshie. Great post, pal.

I don't mind the 2 bigs playing with each other but the other 3 need to consist of only Fox, Briscoe, Monk or Willis. I'd also be more inclined to play Humphries as the 4. He can nail that 10' baseline all day.

Wenyen's face/head/hair make me smile, look like a happy little kid out there playing.

His defensive technique/footwork is a bit of a mess, but he's going to be a terror with time -- he seems to legitimately love playing defense, just doesn't really know how yet.

Slightly confused why Izak isn't playing a bit more. Assume he will against bigger teams and the inevitable foul trouble that's coming, but love what I'm seeing from that guy.

-Was pretty livid when Willis passed up that corner 3...even Monk was like WTF DUDE, and passed it right back to him with "shoot the damn ball *****" authority.

-Why in the world was Chad in Lexington?

^That post move and cram last night. :scream:

Having Zay in the middle of those zones is also really going to be a luxury. Especially if his FT confidence is going to be this high.

If you heard Monk's post game, he's way SECW dumber than Archie. Lazy af. Archie wasn't that. He just wasn't that talented, but he totally understood playing hard each position; maybe even to a fault. Monk is like "Yea LOL I play ball sometimes but coach cal he want me to play ball at all the times so yea it's a adjustment lol" - exact quote.

-This isn't the way I envisioned Kevin Ollie's UConn tenure unfolding after the title run three years ago. Two straight double-digit loss seasons(in a weak AAC), one 5-star recruit in his last three classes, and now a home loss to Wagner. His seat isn't hot(nor should it be), but without a stud coming in next year to turn things around, I wonder if A)Ollie goes ahead and makes the NBA jump after this season, and B)This is the job Dan Hurley's been waiting for.

-I've been away from GYERO(you're welcome), so I'm sure the IU-KU game has been dissected to satisfaction. But man....Crean loses out on ANOTHER in-state stud. Having both Wilkes and Scruggs in your backyard, and whiffing on both, is unbelievable. In the 2014-2017 rankings, there have been 19 players from Indiana in the Top 150, and Indiana has gotten exactly ONE of them(Blackmon). I realize that Bryant/Anunoby/Johnson, etc. are quality players, and they'll be fine this season, but how in the world does the flagship school in the state, and a legitimate CBB blueblood, miss out on THAT much homegrown talent?

-Villanova at Purdue is sneaky-good tonight, even though I know all you pro footballs will be watching something else. Spike Albrecht is now playing PG for Purdue, in his 9th season of eligibility.

-Chris Stapleton and Mrs. Chris Stapleton with a beautiful rendition of "You Are My Sunshine" on Fallon the other night. Sometimes you don't need to reinvent the wheel. Just sing it and play it.

-Happy 30th birthday, "Hoosiers". For all the love for Jimmy Chitwood, they don't even make it out of sectionals if Buddy Walker doesn't man the point with such a steady hand.

-Great call, Markelle Fultz. First game in a U-Dub uniform, and you lose at home to Yale. THAT'S what you get for signing up to play for freaking Lorenzo Romar.

They sang that together a couple months ago at the concert down here. It was really good- and got a really good response which was odd considering that the demographic was fairly red, drunk, burning heaters and joints. Hearing that group sing along to "You are my Sunshine" was almost surreal.

Anybody get a deer this weekend? Every year about September I think I am going to get back into deer hunting and it never materializes. Opening day of modern firearm season was practically a holiday where I grew up.
Got one this morning, spent about 15 minutes actually hunting. Now I have the rest of the day to watch TV I guess. First deer I've taken in over a decade, just started back into it a couple of years ago.

Had scheduled off today and tomorrow so I could spend some time in the woods relaxing, no reason to hunt now. Might work tomorrow and take off Friday to go Musky fishing.

Briscoe's understanding of angles and how to use his body & the rim to shield defenders is maybe the best I've seen from a UK guard. Uncanny.
This may be an odd comparison, but he reminds me a bit of Manu Ginobli in that regard. Just kind of slithers his way through people and you're not entirely sure how.

Some weird **** going on for me this week, may need to buy a lotto ticket.

Tonight: Wife Closes (Not home til 9:30-10)
Tomorrow: Wife Closes, UK Game
Wed: She took a rare overnight shift at another store to cover during construction for OT
Thu: ^ same
Fri: Agency Manager requested I take the day off since I've covered the last no-tell-how-many Fridays around here, accepted. Wife will be sleeping all day off back 2 back overnighters, so Dad gets a Casino Day/Night, after a likely round of golf early.

Basically an entire week with the house to myself, and a grand Finale. o_O[cheers] Helps take a little of the burn off missing NYC.

I'll take some spicy jalapeno summer sausage. Thanks.

The spin cycle he made in the second half to get his last basket and his career high will be on all the highlight reels, but there was one in the first half where he caught it on the right elbow and did this fake stepback move that put his guy on skates and then he crossed him up for a layup and that's one of the coolest moves I've ever seen one of our guys do.

He just basketballs so well. He might also be the best guard we've ever had at making layups. Lots of recency bias there, but think of the years where our guards have struggled finishing at the rack.

One more Briscoe play stood out. He posted up his guy in the second half and he flopped, so Briscoe jumped over him for the layup and the guy who flopped lifted his legs up on the layup attempt to try to undercut him and Briscoe got MAD, as he should have on a dirty play. Pretty sure he was the guy who was shooting the open corner 3 when Briscoe flew in out of nowhere for the block.

Find it hilarious how people keep leaving him off potential AA (and even All conference) lists b/c he can't shoot...

...when you had a guy named Roosevelt Jones who everyone slobbered over for 5-6 years at Butler, who played a similar type role, only in slow motion -- he isn't half the player Briscoe is. Not to mention Zay marcus welby JJ Redick compared to that dude shooting the ball.

People will learn. ZERO chance Briscoe isn't All SEC, foh.

Not sure if they got it on TV but the next play was at our end. He blocked that dudes shot then walked across court to bark at him, official jumped in, then Briscoe started in on the official. He talks to the refs the entire game. Literally all game long.

Nice to at least see our guards shoot free throws well so far. 16-17 from the line for the trio last night and 27-31 in two games.

Very impressed with IU. KU has nada down low at the moment.

It was all on TV, he was livid. Still had that smirky smile on his face the entire time though with his eyes wide open. :sunglasses:

I love that guy.

Also saw him bark at Willis pretty hard once on an inbounds after a turnover/lazy play.

Fox is better than Wall thus far. Wall was cool, had better highlights, and was huge for the program, but Fox is a better player. If last year's PG was Porter, it'd be easier to accept and see.

Eat ****, 73.
