Really? I thought it was awful.

3 episodes in and it is pretty good so far.

Interesting character development. A lot of dark characters with serious flaws.

It's definitely not full of car chases, hot tubs, porterhouses or dick jokes. I understand why you hated it.

Pretty sure that's false based on some of these little league "coaches" I've seen. I'm just giving you guys hell, but self-absorbed ***** most definitely do volunteer. Specifically to make sure their kid is quarterback, pitcher, starts, etc...

"My little Preston is going to play pro ball, so he's definitely playing quarterback. What, he can't throw it past the line of scrimmage? Doesn't matter, we're running the wishbone. Those 7 year olds won't have a clue how to defend it."

Gotta admit you're right. The majority of parents in the stands think/say the same thing though. They aren't willing to put in the work but they second guess every move you make. It's pretty unbearable. For example, to be a VOLUNTEER assistant coach on my boy's tennis team I have to apply on the county website, submit a sports resume', be certified in First Aid and CPR(about $100). Then once you get through those hurdles they do the background check(the one thing they should do).

Then we start practice and Madison, Preston's dad, has a few ideas/tips for us.

There was a dead baby bird in the dugout the other day. That was entertaining. Thing was a kid magnet. Practice was very unproductive.

It died because it was weak.

-The Barbie girl may be a good mom and wife, but clearly she is mentally ill. I mean, should be committed mentally ill. Prayers.

-Do you think anyone at the Columbus PD really gives a **** about Chumps' assault? Nothing personal against him or anything, but a single white male in his 30's gets punched for his iPhone in the middle of the night. I mean, did they even take a report?

"Put some ice on it and be more careful" seems about right.

-Down under 200 lbs for the first time in about a year. Lost 5-6 pounds so far. Nutrisystem FTL/W. A bit humbling to resort to such a tactic, but it hasn't been that bad. If nothing else I've certainly been educated on portion sizes and how critical they are to weight management. Nice to have my meals ready in 2 minutes without much thought. Still, quite a fall from grace for the celebrated decoy WR.

-Got some new Raybans and went away from the wayfarer after years of commitment. Went with the more rounded look that's pretty cool imo. Tortoise shell. It's whatever.

Welp, they're rebooting MacGyver, and MacGyver is being played by this guy.

Have a kid on my Majors team who has had an awful year. Barely hitting, making a ton of errors. Basically completely shut down and wanted to quit. Put him at 3B in the 6th inning yesterday of a 2-2 game and told him "I believe in you...give me your best." His eyes lit up and he ended up making 2 huge plays for us that inning. Came back into the dugout grinning ear to ear.

That's why I coach and volunteer. Moments like that.

I only played travel ball after I turned 10 til when I was 14 and in that time span I didn't have a single coach say anything that encouraging. My 12-13 year old coach was a lunatic. He'd literally shout across the field to call a kid retarded after making an error, make me run 5 poles for every ball I dropped when I was catching, pretty much embarrassed the hell out of us. At one point I got so scared of making a mistake I could barely throw the ball back to the pitcher after each pitch. Got to where I hated baseball by the time I got to high school and decided I'd rather play golf.

Nice to see you aren't driving kids to hate a thing that's supposed to be fun.

When I was in 6th grade, our basketball team lost one game (and made up for it with a vengeance). At the school's sports banquet, our coach told everyone in attendance that the loss ruined our season. He was a peach.

We have a dad on my daughter's soccer team (hell maybe it's abh) who's made his kid cry the last couple of weeks during the game. Last game he showed up with some beers, too. Really adds to the enjoyment/atmosphere of girls' U10 soccer!

Didn't he claim at one point that you all looked like "retards trying to kick a can" while playing? He always seemed like a real good dude.

My daughter doesnt play soccer and Ive never made her cry ANYWHERE in her 9 years of life. But I bet I know who it is. This same person got in a fight at a basketball game with the opposing coach from the stands and got kicked out.

Well he actually said we looked, "like 9 retards in wheelchairs trying to kick a can." Can't remember if that was before or after he told one of our pitchers to intentionally hit a kid. Hell of a man.

Had some mean SOB's in 7th and 8th grade football that I still see around the neighborhood. I remember their ******** vividly, and it still pisses me off. I refuse to make eye contact with them.

Wish there was travel ball when I was a kid. For me, it was Prairie Village season, maybe three game of All-stars, then see you next year.

It wasn't until I got to PRP until I started playing more than 20 games a year. It was a big shock going from that number to 80+ (Season, Summer, and Fall).

Loved MacGyver growing up. Great intro. I just don't see the need to remake it. Personally holding out for the remake of Simon and Simon.

I always had really good coaches in youth sports. We had fun first and foremost, but they also weren't afraid to hold us accountable when we screwed up, and made sure we understood the importance of winning and being competitive. Don't have a single coach at any level that I look back on with animosity.

Who would have thought Winchester would have been a better place to grow up than Louisville or NKY?

The coach I talked about up there was a genuinely awful person. His son was on the team and took so much abuse it wasn't funny. He was a good kid, and we all felt so sorry for him. A truly miserable experience, but we all got a trophy so I guess in reality we were coddled?

Big step. Thanks to a childhood obsession with the Blues Brothers, been sporting the Wayfares for over thirty years...this point, dont think anything else would look right.

Must be a real hoot at family reunions.

Youth Sports Dad Story:

A buddy of mine was on my little league team, and he hits an inside the park homerun. Everyone in the stands and the dugout is going apeshit, as it's his first home run ever and it game us the lead. Everyone other than his Dad, who is yelling at him from the stands "YOU WERE RUNNING SO SLOW WHY WERE YOU RUNNING SO SLOW!?!" Absolutely ruined his homerun for him. He sat in the dugout with tears in his eyes for the next 10 minutes or so.

It still makes me angry thinking about it, tbh.

- No clue what UCL and MP are talking about 50% of the time. AND I DON'T WANT TO, EITHER.

- True Detective 2 sucked, like seriously. Save your time, Willy.

^ Check out Broadchurch -- finished Season 1 last night, really good.

-Guess I'll watch GOT soon. Definitely not my kinda show, but doesn't seem to matter for anyone else, many of who said the same thing before diving in and loving it.

I ran into an old middle school teammate in the Monticello pool hall last week, one I hadn't seen since high school. We have nothing in common today but sat and talked for 15 minutes of the random verbal abuse we each took 22 years ago. Good times.

That being said, I've not seen mention much in Gyero of the world of competitive dance. The psychological warfare waged there is un effing real. My four year old is a "recreational" dancer meaning we're not a slave but the recital tonight is a mix of kids like mine and those reprogrammed, joyless fembots. Last night during a rehearsal the choreographer chastised a 9 year old for her hair being "too fuzzy" (again a closed recital), jumped down a couple 6 year olds for smiling too much in the intro, and destroyed a high school girl for not being enthusiastic enough in the walk off. Add to that the fact half of the dances were based around Rihanna/Beyoncé and I'm DONE. Seriously what the hell. WHAT THE HELL man.

BRax, your son play at that nice baseball complex in Nicholasville, think it's called Memorial or something? I played countless amounts of games there when I was younger. Think the dude that owned it was named Dallas or something? He always rigged the tournaments so his son's team would have the easiest path to the championship games.

Already watched the American version.

GOT may be the best show of all-time. TS. It's just for geeks.

Can't stand "can you make that without the..." person.

Fortunately I was in front of her at Gumbo yaya. This ol' bitty basically went through the whole damn menu, I felt bad for the dude working there. Sorry toots, the sauces are all made with onions, peppers, garlic and what not...move along.

Shew.

A big part of GOTs appeal to me is the reality of it. There certainly is some wizardry and sorcery, but the bulk of the show is fairly realistic. At least by fantasy fiction standards, anyways.

On top of that its just incredibly well produced. Scenery, costumes, characters, acting, etc. Just fantastic.
