-Lol at WCC over there on National Board. I rarely visit those places anymore because the shortcuts didn't make the new format. Or at least I can't find them. I also get to bent out of shape with other fans and I don't need that.

-Inventory clerk is a hell of a cook. I typically can avoid eating bad during the week but he brought in fresh baked Chicken+Mozz+Broccoli Rabe+Italian Sausage+some dressing. WODIE AS F*CK. Mercy I'm miserable.

-If you can call it in or pay a bum to do it I'd be down but I'm not tailgating a BBQ joint. Lol. Back in 2005 at the Regional we crushed 6th. That place was awesome. Woke up after the game and moved my flight, got another room and slept straight through. Shew.

-Got caught up watching that video in the "neighbors" thread. Good time waster if you're into watching crazy white trash.

That's what I did, just got a terrible rep, didn't even get a month of prime added on which I though was standard.

If you ***** enough times they'll ban you, FYI. I typically don't say anything unless it's pretty egregious, like in your case.

I deliver one liners directed at you and receive a paragraph in response almost every time. Now, who is in who's head here? You are a terrible poster who thinks he's a great poster meaning you are the worst kind of poster. Ever. At least chief owns his terribleness.

Last post , not giving you any more attention, and cluttering GYERO. I do not think I am anything. I post what I want to, does anyone really sit around and think "man I am really good at posting on a message board." IDGAF what you think, but a real easy way to decide who is winning this is simple,,, well for people with any gd sense. I NEVER, EVER post to you first. So obviously I am in your GD dense head, or 99% of your post wouldn't be TRYING to **** on me. Trust me, if you posted 100 times a day, if none of them where directed at me, I would not know you existed, TMFS. Yeah it is another long post, but when you have to cover so much dumb ****, it takes a while to get into your thick, brainless skull. Once again, run along, grown folks are trying to discuss things, not flame,,, nah, not going to say what I REALLY want to. Peace.

As much as I like Mrs. STG's drive-bys, I think it's time she either stop or spill the actual story. I don't really think it's fair that she insinuate he's unethical in his line of work without dropping some actual facts. I think we'd all prefer to judge for ourselves.

Always the first full week of August. I would love to see the group make it back, it's just difficult for me to do as much hosting as I once could...hell, it's all I can do to navigate the waters on childcare to free up myself and the lass for the weekend.

Now, Harmon and that crew? They basically just come down and do their own thing completely, I always get a kick out of seeing their group roll into Madisonville, they basically know everything about the little town and have their own schedule.

Club is once against under new ownership, they've already completely redone the clubhouse along with cosmetic stuff like new hole signs, new proshop gear, etc. Amazingly I do not know the new owners, at all...just kind of sitting back and :eyes: from the outside in and hoping they have some fresh ideas on how to make the place work.

* Been in heated arguments with my boss and another coworker all morning about satellite camps. They claim its just the SEC being afraid of the genius who is Harbaugh.

I pointed out that the Big Ten was the ONLY power conference in favor of not banning them and was called an SEC cheater. sch

* Hit up Boi Na Braza Saturday night. Took it easy by my standards. I'd like to hit that place up with 80, Dr. Boat and BBdK one day. We could do some damage.

Taking my wife is almost a waste of money. She had one piece each of filet, bacon-wrapped filet (she pulled the bacon off), and some weird little sausage (insert joke here). She did crush a bottle of pinot, the salad bar and ordered a triple chocolate mousse cake for dessert.

* Heading down to good ol' Benton in a few weeks to take my Dad fishing for a couple of days. Pretty excited about that.

* My wife just bought some new furniture for her office at our house and decided that now I have to do a painting that matches it. And she wants it now, dammit.

* Watching True Detective while doing cardio this week. After cardio, I lift weights and picture BBdK smoking cigs and calling me WildFat Willy. Has been a pretty effective motivator so far.

* Vinyl, Better Call Saul and Americans have all been great this season, IMO.

Fresh idea for MCC --------------> spend some damn money on a new pool, and watch membership triple.

I can't tell you how many times I've said it; without a pool, a country club has 0 chance at prosperity. Give the women and kids a place to go all summer long, and the guys will get to play golf alld/airy. Take that place away from the women and children, and you can kiss your *** goodbye.

It's really pretty simple, but unbelievable how few places can grasp the importance.

Yup, it's really (almost) as simple as that. Considering everyone with influence around the place has stated such (and basically begged) for over a decade, I don't like the chances.

Every new owner thinks he can fix it another way. NEW CART PATHS!!! NEW BUNKERS!!!! Those were definitely needed, but have zero affect on membership.

Maybe they should ask the people who live on the course and saw the place in its heyday when it was EASILY one of the better all around clubs in Western KY. ****, you couldn't even enter the main dining room without a coat, or even score a table without a reservation on a weekend night, and now it's 2-4-1 Margs and all you can eat chips and salsa. [sick]

Of course, clubs are hurting all over the country, it's not a Madisonville thing. But it's unique property in that little town, in a great community that would love a reason to support it again. Smh

So, I really have no clue about country club culture. Your folks used to just take you kids up there and you'd swim all day? Is that about right? What else goes on for families?

Met up with some people at Idle Hour Saturday night, shew that place is nice. Not sure I'd fork out the initiation fee, but that's a nice club.

Billions with a solid ending. That and Better Call Saul have been the best two of the spring so far imo, although the Americans is heating up.

From open to close. Every. Single. Day. Pool, Golf, Swim team. Dads played poker, moms played bridge. Dinner up there at least once per week, Lunch pretty much every day.

And once we were of a decent age, it was basically a free all-day babysitter for our families, who worked, of course. Everyone knew everyone, so we were always in good hands.

Easter Egg hunt was off the trellis, too. 4th of July/Memorial Day parties w/ all sorts of activities for the kids.

Place was hopping all summer long.

I spent at least ~10 hours a day every day at Mayfield G&CC as a kid.

8:00 to noon -- Rode bike to club, then 18 holes.

Noon to 1:00 -- Eat lunch. Microwave burger, Mr. Pibb or Mello Yello, chips, Twix, video games.

1:00 to 3:00 -- Swim. Had perfected the flip off the low dive by age 6, and the high dive by age 8. Graduated to the big boy stuff (one and a halfs, twos, backwards flips, gainers, etc.) after that.

3:00 to 4:00 -- tennis.

4:00 to 6:00 -- swim.

6:00 -- Rode bike home for supper, then baseball.

Literally did not even see my parents most days unless they happened to be at the club. I couldn't fathom my kids being gone for 10 hours at a time now.

It's a different world today, man.

I didn't have a country club in the mean streets of Dayton. But Tacoma Pool served the same basic purpose.

6th & 7th grade I would go there nearly every day.

Huge pool, basketball courts, putt putt, arcade. I would ride my bike down there before lunch and would be home by dinner.

Had to work around baseball practice and we weren't allowed to swim at all on game days.

In 8th grade, I started working every day at the school so I headed to the pool at 3:00 and had to leave by 5:00.

That place closed when they built a new marina on the Ohio River sometime during my HS years. I miss it, man.

Setting aside the change in culture, more options for entertainment, and struggling coalfield economy...

The country club or other private clubs like Elks, VA, etc. basically had a monopoly on serving alcohol. Then, as Joey Rupp has pointed out in his masterpiece, our little town went wet...and it was a disaster of biblical proportions. Old Testament type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies, rivers and seas boiling, forty years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanoes, dead rising from the grave, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together...mass hysteria! You get the point...

In other words, we got an Applebees.

And a country club board made up of mostly 60+ year old men who volunteered their time to go to a meeting once a month and approve financials while in the middle of a game of gin rummy failed to adjust on the fly to the vastly changing landscape (and budget) and the place went broke. Stunning, I know.

I contend that you can still effectively do the small town country club type thing but it must be scaled back, informal, and affordable. Simple small pool to congregate, maybe a play ground, small pro shop and dining area with as little overhead as possible...and a Mexican restaurant.

Even if you have a gazillion dollars in the bank, you aren't getting into IH unless you are the top doc in your field in the state, or on your knees w/ the board members on a regular basis. Being able to pay their ridic initiation fee isn't their worry....it is status, status, status. There is a reason they are the most exclusive and racist CC in the state, despite the Bowie membership.

I'll imagine we'll make the drive to Patti's for sentimental reasons, but I appreciate the recs, Chief.

We usually stay in Grand Rivers, though, so I might be able to talk my Dad into trying 4 Little Pigs.

You have to be invited to join, it's not like just filling out an application online.

Grew up at Spring Lake, honestly couldn''t imagine a better way to spend summers as a kid. Swim team, golf, baseball...those were good times.
