not an expert Gambol especially not a college basketball, but Virginia takes UL to poundtown tomorrow, right? UL had their season ending championship celebration with title ring award ceremony, ergo they should lay down & die on the road in a meaningless game, correct?

touch all those '15 guys who turned us down to play for ishy teams & jack up 20 shots a game playing 38 minutes. enjoy your NIT & CBI March, bitches.

Glad we filled our special teams coordinator position open slot, wish it hadn't taken 14 months.

-2015 was a really dumb, weird class.

-Simmons was a handler deal. Still dumb. Newman was selfish. Ellenson was dumb. Zimmerman mommy's boy.

"Mike, you made the HOF, man. Get to work on that speech!"

"Yes! Now I finally have that platform to attack every human being who has ever looked at me cross-eyed! Because that's what a normal, not-at-all sociopathic, mentally healthy person would do!" (sticks 1,945,956th pin in Jerry Krause voodoo doll)

Was beautiful. Dude's ruthless. The ultimate competitor (Tiger in his prime was perhaps right there). Sorry you guys apparently missed it with him. Not sure we'll get another to enjoy in our lifetimes.

First Thursday I haven't gone out in 4 weeks... Thank you to GYERator, of all people, to let me know I'm on the bubble. Really appreciate it my man.

My roommate did go out last night however and passed out on the couch, and then proceeded to piss on it. He has now pissed the couch twice, his own bed twice, and another girl's bed once just this semester. We think he has a problem.

Also, that couch is my other roommate's. Apparently he is seething. One bad part about doing a co-op is I'm missing out on those fireworks right now.

I hate(d) Karl Malone because he was and is so incredibly stupid. Get pumped, mailman.

Oh, and 25,000 of those points were from John Stockton setting him up.

Put Barkley with Stockton for 30 years and you'd get an even better result.

For half the decade the scoring average per game was higher than every season that followed except this one.

Just a day trip. Imagine we'll have a driver.

Sonoma is probably easier, since it's a little closer. Can do more with less driving. Also, it's much less formal, typically don't need reservations. A bunch of Napa places you need to set a reservation and it's a whole production.

Viansa is a great spot for lunch, winery is really nice, decent wine, not too expensive, and they have a huge pizza oven outside, picnic tables, bocce. One of the closest spots to SF.

Gloria Ferrer for Champagne.

Gundlach Bundschu is great.

Domaine Carneros is just past Sonoma, great views and Champagne - need a reservation.

Bartholomew Park is good - very low key.

If you want to go all the way to Napa, there are hundreds and hundreds of places, but a lot are kinda too far away. Peju (no reser), Cakebread (Reser), Honig (reser), Clos Du Val (no reser), Chimney Rock (Reser), Frogs Leap (reser) Turnbull (no reser) are some of my favorites that are in the lower part of the valley. I'd check the website of everywhere you want to go, it gives times and whether you need a reser or not. Anth is right, if you go Monday-Thursday you can walk into a lot of places and have it all to yourselves, and if it isn't busy they'll take you even without a reservation.

People keep talking about Simmons and LSU missing the tourney, but there are going to be a lot of highly-touted OAD-type frosh not making it:

Henry Ellenson
Malik Newman
Stephen Zimmerman
Dwayne Bacon
Malik Beasley
Antonio Blakeney

Great decisions, guys.

I mean lets face, it, pretty much the entire class sucks. Simmons and Ingram are legit, then the entire rest of that group was meh. Even our surefire top 3 pick is complete garbage. Hell, the "best" freshman (not top draft pick) might end up being a Canuck who reclassified from the 2017 class.

Appreciate it. I don't care too much about wine country, but the lass does. I think we're hitting Sonoma for a day and it will likely be Monday or Tuesday.

  • Healdsburg is awesome. Would highly recommend. Cool town in Sonoma. Grab a sandwich/picnic basket at the market in center town.
  • The Lakers averaged 117 PPG in their Showtime years. The Celtics averaged 114 in the Bird glory years. Just imagine how many they could have averaged if they didn't shoot set push shots!!!

MJ is the greatest player of all time. I mean...I still don't think there's anybody in the league today who could do this.

Nice tie dye uniforms, Nets. Shew.

Now then...people should NOT want to be like Mike. There's a reasonable chance that they won't be as good at basketball as Michael Jordan was, but if they have that same sociopathic competitive drive, they can one day be amazing serial killers. He's got maybe two friends, Charles Oakley and some other dude.

The one negative thing I'll say about Jordan's era - specifically 1996-98 - is that the league will never that level of talent dilution again, and that's why I want to see the Warriors break the '96 Bulls' 72 wins record. The '96 Bulls are treated as demigods because of 72 wins, meanwhile 1996 was probably the worst NBA year of all time because it was the first year of the Raptors and the Grizzlies, and I'm pretty sure the league wasn't ready to expand 6 years after its last expansion. Look at those rosters. The '96 Bulls don't belong in the same paragraph as the '86 Celtics and '87 Lakers. Heck, I rank them third among Jordan's titles after '92 and '91.

But yeah, best player ever. And he had to be to beat the Knicks as many times as he did, because those were some really good Knicks teams.

Just bought a few books including "Bourbon Empire" and "One and Fun" (2010 UK book). Anyone read either?

What a terrible discussion. Comparing eras is [sick]

-You'll care about wine country when you get there. It's beautiful and a ton of fun. Downtown Sonoma is neat. Cool little market with great food. You'll really dig it.

-all my friends that worked ups in school either dropped out or started hanging out at that bar up the street and I never saw them again. Props on being financially responsible but you're better than I was at that age. I worked but it was day light hours.

I'm saying you suck though Chase, hopefully you can understand that.

Let me know if you don't, and I'll shoot you and email w/ the breakdown.

-Anth's Bryson obsession has me willing to give him a shot next week I guess.

Also curious about the "Under the Banner" and "All of the Light" books that have been consensus favs around here. Pick one.

-Comparing eras or talking about past greats would be fine if 73 didn't exist. Everyone else seems to get it, overall. [sick]

Haven't been to Healdsburg, but have heard great things, only issue is it's like an extra 30 minutes drive away from all the lower Sonoma stuff. Not sure why we are wasting our keystrokes on this actually, Chad is going to have no say or interest in whatever the final decision is.

"All the Light" and "Under the Banner" couldn't be more different. Both really good. Light is a novel and a quicker read. Banner is unbelievable but a little long.

You'll enjoy "Neither here not there". Especially with your Euro trip coming up.

Yeah, I'm going to be hanging out with the wine-loving lass and two gays so I'm just along for the ride for Sonoma.

I just want to experience the city, see the Golden Gate, Muir Woods and Sausilito.

These problems of the Board of Trustees began in 2013 with a core group from a zip code in the east end. This group has been relentless in pushing forward with incessant negatives and attempts to micromanage the university. I haven’t seen anything positive from them since they were added to the board; they have added nothing constructive to the debate or to the life of the university. I would strongly suspect none of this hard core group of individuals attended UofL, nor have they sent any of their sons and daughters there.

Booker joined Towns as the only rookies to have multiple 30pt games in the NBA this year.

God he's such a pimp, such a sneaky great all around game, too. Future All Star.

Probably Cal's second-least hyped class and it gave us Towns, Booker, Lyle and Ulis. [laughing]
