- It's true. There's a buzz, an electricity about the whole town in March with the Cats playing good ball and ready to make a run. I still remember experiencing College Utopia during that '98 F4, cruising into town, it's upper 60s, college kids out everywhere rocking their blue, throwing frisbee, drinking beer, hanging off porches, grilling out, dimes everywhere. It was heaven for an 18-year-old.

Always wondered what it was like at EKU.

You should have seen it at UK. :fire::fire::fire:

Best way to get a free trip to the Sweet 16 is go to the region, and win the whole damn thing every year, free trip handled. I will say this, I think you have done one hell of a job this year, Did not inherit a lot to work with. My friend Doug Thompson gave you mad props in Sporting Times and general conversation.

wcc,

The toughest part about this year is I'm at a different school. The first 16 years of my career I was at the place that hired me and my wife. My wife is still at the old school while I drive 40 minutes one way.

The school I'm at now persued me and they are creating a new position at the high school that fits my wife's certification. I decided it was time to move on. Plus, the young nucleus at my new gig is going to be pretty good in a couple of years!

Drawbacks are time away from family and pay (I guess).

Rewards are the normal cliched bs. But it is rewarding to try to make a difference. I left a program full of wonderful young gentlemen. There was no way I could make them any better as human beings. 4 of the seniors are competing for valedictorian. Those same 4 have 30+ ACT scores. 3 GSP scholars. Active in clubs and organizations. Strong Christian values that I am personally proud of.

I stepped into a place that needed more mentorship and structure. It's a new challenge and I'm competitive by nature. It's been a fun ride to see slow, but steady growth. We're not where we need to be, but they're getting there. I pray daily that I'm being the guide they need me to be.

Plus, they're going to be loaded with talent in 2 years. Did I mention that?

Reid Forgrave seems to be one of Cal's guys when it comes to sportswriters. Nothing earth shattering for you college basketballs in here, but it's a pretty good reminder of how incredible HOFCJVC has been in Lexington.

Man, I eat up articles like that - if they're from national guys. Sure, they don't provide much substance, especially considering it's mostly media quotes from after the 'Bama game, but there is a proud feeling after reading them, like Calipari is my son, or whatever.

No offense to Strokin, but that's not going to happen unless he moves to a 14th district school or moves out of the 4th region.

I beat Spear in "most-made-before-missing-2."

So there's one, hero.

And Spear is the only adult human being who has seen me dunk as a 39 year old.

Got the utmost respect for what Strokin does, my buddy is the AD/baseball coach at Meade County and the **** he deals with from the parents/community is unbearable... Oh, and you have to win games and mold kids to boot

- So are Calcutta pots going to be smaller or larger this year? On one hand, you don't have a dominant (dominate?) team that's going to fetch a lot of $$$. But there are about 10-12 teams you could talk yourself into purchasing for a "bargain." It will be interesting to hear how that plays out for some of you that do that sort of thing.

.

Would probably be more interesting if you participated in one.

Just spoke to a guy I used to work with that is buddies with Mack and does some stuff with X(2008 might know him) and asked him if Mack would leave for UL and "his wife is from Louisville but the job isn't open". Essentially, yes if it comes open.

Shall be interesting i suppose:

The Thursday showcase game between No. 20 Indiana and Illinois (ESPN, 9 p.m.) will be called by Rece Davis and provide a “Backseat Coaches” perspective from analysts and former coaches Dan Dakich and Seth Greenberg.

Davis will be in the typical mid-court announcing position with Dakich seated next to the Illini’ bench and Greenberg positioned next to the Hoosiers’ bench. In addition to calling the game, Dakich and Greenberg will provide insight to what the coaches of their respective teams are thinking and how they might strategize if they were leading those teams. They will be coaching along – offering their own opinions as to what a coach could do in the game, as well as helping viewers understand why the actual coaches may be making the decisions they are.

Today in I love my job, one of our dealers catastrophically failed installing a decent size job for one of the TSA locations not to be named. Rather than accept their failure after 3 site visits of 18 hours, a full day of factory training and lost count of # of phone calls, the TSA sent a cease and desist asking for full refund.

And my factory just told them, take your shoes off, stand in that line, remove your belt, place your laptop in a separate bin, no keep your belt on, bend over and prepare thy anus because you're getting pumped, bitches.

Just spoke to my wife that is planning to eat 2 day leftovers for dinner and asked her if she would eat Simply Thai and "it's my favorite but I do not have any at home". Essentially, yes if I bring it home.

[laughing] Classic female response.

I worship Simply Thai, btw. Pad See Ew, spice level 3 and a pilsner :raised_hands:

That's not news. I mean Christ, it's a top paying job at a top 7 historical program. Oh, the coach at a small catholic school would love that gig? Thanks. Will try to keep in gyero.
Well....I guess I should have included that this guy has been adamant for years that Mack wouldn't go anywhere including UK.

Would be pretty dope if Dakich was allowed to sit next to IU's bench and get his digs in about Crean's coaching decisions.

The ESPN brain trust is strong these days. How can we make college basketball more exciting, you guys? Welp lets try a new camera angle OH and we'll put to failures at coaching on the bench to hear what terrible strategies they can come up with if they were still coaching but aren't, because they were terrible. Sounds swell, good work.

Well....I guess I should have included....

-Please refrain from including anything.

-Good call on Zaxby's salad. The Asian version is the best. Limited-time menu option, though....FTL.

-For someone I hate, I find myself agreeing with Chad more often than not, too.

-Speaking of someone I hate, I envy Rax's experience with his son at the Bama game. Neither of my daughters has any interest in MBB, but they'll happily go to the occasional UKHOOPSREDNECKPOTSIE or Kentucky softball game. Those will have to do.

-So Crean and Groce are gonna be second-guessed by two guys who have taken teams to exactly three NCAA tournaments in their combined 36 years of head coaching. In a related story, I just emailed Usain Bolt some tips on how to shave a tenth off his 100 time.

Seth Greenberg's best role was that of "whiny coach who missed tournament again because his teams didn't play/beat anyone" every year during Selection Sunday. If I want to hear someone discuss scheduling malfeasance, he's my guy. Maybe a funny quip in studio. But that's it.

Each comment should be required to begin with a qualifier

"ok folks, remember, there is a reason I'm no longer coaching, but here is what I would've done..."
