Kansas has the edge in Lawrence, because you apparently can't beat them there, but Bill Self's hair is more genuine than their chance of winning it all this season.

Does that improve them enough to elevate a team that looked overmatched by Wichita State, never mind the debacle against Kentucky?

To me, they are a typical Big-12 team, with a typical Big-12 star in Perry Ellis. He looks good against the rest of the Big-12 and so does his team. Then the NCAA tournament starts.

Agree. What needs to happen is some media to keep the pressure on and be unrelenting in the NCAAs handling of UNC vs how they've handled other cases. Donny Tyndell? UNC has parts of 3 decades at the minimal of academic scandal and cheating.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous how the NCAA has just looked the other way the entire time. Had this been UK, we would have already been on probation for over a year. And that's why the NCAA is just a corrupt organization that has no governing body to make sure it can't just pick and choose who to crucify. It's just despicable.

UNC isn't that strong but they do have a shot due to experience. I don't think they make it to the title game but I think they are FF material. Of course, I would LOVE to see them fall apart and disappoint.

Now UK and Duke can become really good, but with their big reliance on frosh I'm gonna hold off on that. KU, UNC, Maryland, etc, have a lot of experience back, but not super talented teams either.

I don't need to make a case for anybody. UNC made it to the sweet-16, and had Wisconsin beat until they blew it at the end. Wisconsin beat UK, and went to the title game, right? Who cares how many losses UNC had, anyway? UK had 10 losses the year before heading into the tournament. And what does that have to do with this coming year?

If you don't think UNC is going to be one of the top 5 best teams, you may want to look at the collection of talent as a whole in college basketball. How many teams are going to be better than they are? By the end of the year Kentucky, maybe Duke?, maybe Maryland?, Virginia?, Kansas? Who are the other good teams? I thought Eamonn Brennon compiled this top-25 list anyway, so who really cares. It's not even official. Rounding out the last half of the top 10 are powerhouses Oklahoma, Iowa State, Wichita State, and Villanova. You're telling me one of those teams can't be more overrated?

That would be the only thing that would worry me by the end of the year. I just see UNC as an experienced and decently talented team which has the potential to make a run in the tournament. They could be another train-wreck to start the season, too. It wouldn't surprise me either way. I just think college basketball lacks very many elite teams next year, so I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that they could be a top-10 to top-5 team most of the year.

This is my thinking as well. They were average last year, lost one of the best players, added nobody. I don't get the hype.

UNC will be good because of experience and team chemistry. They basically have a bunch of decent players that have been playing together for a while. That being said I think they are beaten in the elite eight. If UK is a two seed it will be by UK yet again just like a few years ago.

I personally don't think they are good enough but strange things happen in the tourney. UNC should not even be allowed to be in the NCAAT; if they were to even reach the Final 4 I think it is a "black eye" for the sport we love so much.

Can Skal and Murray, as freshman, out-score us? We will see.

One isolated matchup won't usually determine a game. Two or three of them usually do. Wisconsin beat UK last year because they exploited two matchups for much of the game - Dekker and Kaminsky. UK had no answer for them; not even when WCS was guarding them.

All of that said, I'd rank UNC ahead of UK to open the year. They're loaded at the 2-5 positions with NBA players at each position (albeit, role players, but NBA players nonetheless). It's really unfortunate Paige or Meeks didn't make the leap last year.

At the end of next year, we probay beat UNC 5 times in a 7 game series. I was just simply stating that we literally have no one that can guard Meeks. Paige is also very streaky, so he could go for 4 pts, or 28. I agree with your post. Obviously we will have more weapons.

Yeah it would suck *** if UNC won. But your forgetting that we're gonna win this year my man. We're gonna win to partially make up for the catastrophe that was the final 4 last year. It would help us all quite a bit, but nothing is gonna fully make up for that team not winning 9.
