It's not as big as ours, but the picture looks damn good. I hope our picture quality is equal to theirs.

That fact that you can see it at all during the day is a vast improvement over the old one.

Rumor started because that's what people figured it was going to be. It's not that much bigger but it's maybe 10% or so bigger as I recall.

I think it is at least 30% larger...
We will have the 2nd largest board in the NCAA.

The total board measures 152 feet wide x 135.5 feet tall, with a main high definition screen of 111 feet by 47 feet.

Ole Miss board is 84-foot wide by 48-foot tall for the whole board...

You do the math...

That's better than the 12" Curtis Mathes we've had for 10 years, though.

There is a commercial for some type male enhancement drug that I hear everyday on Sirus that claims thicker/wider is more important than length.

Just sayin'.

UM's is 84x48 which is the standard 16:9 aspect ratio for HD television. Ours is 111x47, which is significantly wider without being any taller (actually a foot shorter). Will we just use wider angle cameras or what?

to bring the screen size down to the normal ratio the majority of the time. Did BigErn say that or something? I think that's where I heard that.

LOL

But seriously...with an HD screen as big as our's...I mean no kiddin as big as a drive-in movie screen - you'd think in the off season they'd have some events to take advantage of that, even if it is a drive-in walk-up movie.

UM's screen at 84x48 is indeed the standard (roughly) 1.78:1 for high definition tv. Ours at 111x47 is an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 or "anamorphic" widescreen which is used in a lot of movies and some say will be the next generation of HD tv's. Now as to how we will use it is anyone's guess. I would assume since we have the wider aspect ratio HD board, we will use wider aspect ratio cameras to fully utilize the display. But who really knows. I do know the main board will not be split up for advertising on the sides as there are seperate boards on the sides for that purpose. The total board is much wider than the 111 ft wide main screen.

I could easily see them showing movies for a small fee for students to raise funds for various things. It would seem a waste to not use it for things other than 6 home games a year.
