Yes guys. You all probably found out about this at the same time our government did. And our government is also probably just letting it stay up there to ensure China gets as much Intel as possible. That is 100% what is happening here.

China spies on us DAILY and steals more IP from us than most realize. Surprisingly the only thing they have not been able to do is build quality aircraft….and that is a good thing. That balloon needs to be blown out of the sky, if nothing more than to make a statement. Doubt it happens with this inept administration.

Exactly! It's not like our intelligence and defense department are not aware of the balloon and it's not like they feel like shooting it down is the best answer or of course, it would be done. We have pretty good spies in this country too and I assume that we have more to gain by allowing the balloons to fly. We are certainly monitoring everything going on and have determined it in our best interests to allow it to continue.

Thinking they will whe it gets over the ocean. However it seems they could prevent further intel being sent if they just nicely "deflated" that damm thing.

In the Greenville area the CIA wants everyone go outside at 9:07 am tomorrow and bend over and drop trou.

They won’t shoot it down because of fear of injuries on the ground.(seriously) That order may be rescinded if it drifts further south than expected and overflies Athens or Columbia.

We can easily track ICBMs shot by North Korea but the Chinese can float in a balloon into our northwest dang near undetected. Jeez.
0.0% chance that thing was undetected. 100% chance we knew when that sucker was launched, the name of all the crew that launched it, and what they all had for breakfast.

Now … when did the military/NORAD inform the Brandon administration???? That is up for debate.

We aren’t shooting it down because we want the payload and we will get it

Payload meaning we want all the Info/Intel they are collecting?

Apparently shooting down a slow moving object at 70,000 feet isn't as easy as it seems. I'm sure we could do it if we really thought it was a threat, but fighter jets and missiles weren't designed to do that. And of course the falling debris field

It baffles me that the government is just letting it happen. Shoot that thing down
Yeah something doesn't add up here - it was over Freaking Montana - one of the most barren and sparsely populated states... and they were "worried" about civilian casualties?? more likely they wanted to keep the whole thing quiet from the public, bring it down somewhere quietly and study it and someone broke the story. Christ, Biden said "shoot it down" the Gov of Montana said "shoot it down" and yet it still floats across the entire continental US......... more to this story but we may never find out what it is

We agree on very little policy wise but this is the correct answer. Balloons were so WW2

I think, and I have no way of knowing, but my educated hope is that they are more interested in what it can actually detect/survey or what it’s capabilities are generally than blowing that thing out of the sky over the pacific when it was likely they first became aware of it.

I am curious, does our military have the capability of grasping the balloon and lowering it to the ground? I know we have technology that is advanced...... @BonesF15 do we have anything that is capable of this?

How do you like Hendersonville? My aunt and uncle moved there last year. Bought a beautiful home on near 30 acres.

Love living here. The only down side is more and more people are finding out about it and moving here. Fighting traffic on four seasons is a *****
