I've liked these guys all along. I really think we have a special group here this year. The offense and defense both have a chance to be really good. You have proven guys like Mom and Moreno who aren't about themselves and then young guys who are eager to prove how good they are and a bench with guys like Kepnang who bring exactly what you need. Its a nice combination to have. Everyone knows and accepts their roles. Wait till we get Kam and Jerone back.

Certainly seems like a vast improvement over last years squad.

We have one year of guys who really played well together and another year that was basically a throw-away squad of guys that really didnt belong here. So 50/50. But there's hope that year 1 was much closer to the norm for Mark Pope.

And lord, if we can look good this year and look like we are having fun.. that could fix a lot of our recruiting and transfer portal issues.

Dude if we get a motivated Pope (breaking a clipboard is a start) this team is going to be so fun. I think these guys can handle being pushed, but will Pope push them or be their best friend.

I am chosing to be Positive, I LIKE THIS TEAM. Momo is so dang good man, Wilkins is shifty, Moreno is a force, and Mason could be freshman of the year just talking about the 4 you posted. But I like a lot of these guys. JUST LOCK IN DEFENSIVELY and we can do some good things.

I think once this bunch gets a few more games under their belt and start to learn how to play off each other, they are gonna be hard to deal with. Practicing against each other gets tougher the longer you do it because everyone knows what everyone else is going to do. I think the key to our best success this season is good brisk ball and player movement. We have enough high-quality shooters that we aren’t going to be able to be covered all over the place. Get Kam back, keep up that defensive effort with that length, Hawthorne keep emerging, I like it.

Really focus on blocking out and not getting out rebounded, keep that ball moving, keep moving without the ball, then we are basically unguardable.

Agreed. But I don't think Morton is coming back. Assuming there's no significant injury to Mason, Zoom, or Wilkins it won't really be an issue though. Getting Kam back will be huge if/when it happens and he can truly play.

The team looks together, good chemistry. (No stokes screwing things up as a prima donna freshman, gimme Mason WILLIAMS ! any day ... )

Communicating on defense when a mismatch happens on a switch, getting back to your assigned man. Helping out defensively, length causing disruption for tipped balls, deflections.....

They are a good shooting group. Mom puts them over the top when he is on, but everybody should realize that by now.

Williams and hawthorn are solid backup players for significant minutes. McBride, Ousi, Big Franck, with Moreno, equals significant defensive presence in the paint. All our forwards can shoot the three ball.

Wilkins is streaky, let's get him good looks and consistent good looks. Zoom is best driving to the rim, get him those opportunities.

The team is also looking for Big Chill as the primary three point threat. The way it should be. Seeing the other guys turn down decent to good looks just to get a wide open look to Big Chill, well ... that is really great to see.

Defensively and rebounding, we look far, far better than anyone thought in the preseason. Let's keep that going.

Just simply take every game one at a time. Just like football. One game at a time. JMU is next.

Keep getting better and improving each game.

Very likeable group of players. Always important when you have a big paycheck guy in the locker room, that is a humble team guy and Milan is definitely that.
No where close to the dysfunctional group that we saw last year. While there were some guys last year that were clearly good guys, there was also a few guys that were not team players.

When your biggest NIL guy can't even get into a game to play, it's going to wear on a locker room.

I'm going to withhold judgement until after the Kansas game. If they can win that then I believe we will have something special.

This is the wise way.

And to the guy saying we have no weaknesses? Are u serious? Even championship teams have weaknesses.

I do like this team 10 times more than last years already.

What's the big deal about "real handles"? TheDude73 is just as "anon" as someone whose "handle" is anon. So you STFU
Hmm...it seems he might have motivated you to get a new handle. The difference is that folks can remember "TheDude73" or "NoLongerAnon" but nobody is going to even try to remember all the different anon numbers.

Weakness through 3 exhibition and 1 real game :
1. Ball movement has been non-existent for stretches of each game. Dribble for 25 seconds then turn it over or take a bad shot
2. No cutting or screening, the sis seem to finally start about 10 minutes in the Manhattan game
3. Turn overs.

Strengths can be summed up in 3 words: shooting, rebounding, defense.

I think this team has potential to be good. Defense has chance to be elite. They just aren't there yet. Let's see if coach can coach. I've been supportive of pope from the beginning, but if he doesn't produce this year, then that will change.

I think this team has the potential to be pretty good. Maybe not NCAA championship good, but a team that will compete and possibly make some other teams a little nervous. The Kansas game next week will really tell us a whole lot more.

That game is going to be tough, because they're basically cheating against us. They're already preparing TKR to play against us. It's even worse because this might be their peak this season, if the NCAA decides to punish them down the line.

Although, now that I think about it, the tourney committee will 100% take this into account, thankfully.
