And he thinks they're ahead offensively but behind defensively? Our offense was a dumpster fire tonight.Once again we’re days away from the season and our coach has no clue on who to play and where or when. Just throwing crap at the wall and hoping it sticks.
Not enoughHow many minutes did Rodney Brown get tonight?
Sha just punched Ryan's tablet because he couldn't check an out of bounds play on time under 1 minute. Lol!
Looking at how bad we played tonight, it makes me think we should have played more exhibitions. Intra-squad practice doesn't expose our weaknesses enough.I guess these games do matter after all.
I was very disappointed on MPs game today. None of the guys made our offense look good. I had him last.Same issues on offense without a PG to bail us out.
Petro is definitely better option for offense. He's a legit PG adept at using change of pace to make room. Has a nice hesi-dribble package. Looks confident handling the ball.
Jones and Anderson don't look good playing PG. Not creating space, they get sped up and don't have natural vision or passing skills to be good facilitators.
Petro's issue is quickness on D. Is working hard but he's not suited to fight over ball screens and stay with his man. He's trying and hasn't really been burnt but the other 2 are better at that aspect.
Petro looked better getting run with 1st unit.
50-50..good call...Pirates fans with a big showing, it’s got to be at least 50-50, maybe even more SHU fans.
For your penance say three Our fathers and three Hail Marys.2 of 12 from deep for the Pirates? O boy. It's gonna be a long season.
I think you mean Dawes there with the NJIT game. but I'm glad you mentioned El Amin. There's a name I hadn't heard in a long time and I just went down a rabbit hole checking what he's been up toI was very disappointed on MPs game today. None of the guys made our offense look good. I had him last.
One plus, Sha told Sim he wanted him to be the man, vand he scored 7 late to save our ***. Reminded je of El Amin at that other preseason stinker, T njit a few yrs ago. Sim pjays bigger than his size.
Nothing much from Devin, disappointing. I think he is a better shooter than he showed today. But what we saw today wasnt inspiring.
Cope had his moments. Expected more.
EF played very hard, hit a few shots early. First 3 was a beauty. Looked for a few more, came up empty, like all our shooters.
I am not jumping out of a high window. Very disappointing but I think we are better than whay I saw.
Saw SHU Source, with was a nice surprise.
“Whatever happened there!!!!”Anyone find a box score anywhere?
I think Copeland was the best player along with flashes at the beginning and end from Wilcher. I want to see more of Brown and Thomas. Fisher was solid.
Not sure starting Jones, Anderson, and Wilcher is a recipe for success. I saw basically nothing from Jones and little from Anderson. I think Brown will need to be a starter.
Kabba was not in uniform, I guess injured. Hoping that’s why Williams didn’t start, or maybe it’s because of the late addition of Fisher.
Really concerning how an offensive threat like Jones who carried a team last year was absolutely a non-factor offensively in Shaheen’s “offense.” Especially against a team he would probably be the star player on.
Copeland is a bull down low, has good post instincts, and his defenders had few answers for him whenever we managed to get him post-up opportunities which needs to be a point of emphasis. Struggled feeding the post as usual.
Petrovic had a decent first half and struggled the second half. Scored probably 7 points or more off the top of my head. Hit a 3, had a nice floater on a drive. Got hit in the face inadvertently and seemed shaken up but didn’t come out of the game.
Saw very little from Wol, Jones, Williams, Theo, Dolinski, Anderson.
Shaheen was Shaheen, coaching like it was the Final Four, yelling and smashing iPad screens. In everyone’s face for not knowing the offense and for defensive lapses. I noticed from sitting close to the action how much the players constantly are looking back at Sha. My wife who knows next to nothing observed “the players look tentative and scared.”
Oof madone forgot to mention Payday. Saw a lot of nothing, but he has potential when he settles down. Threw a terrible pass for a turnover but sprinted back for an incredible LeBron’s style block from behind to prevent the dunk. Airballed a wide open corner 3 and some wild drives. Looks physically strong though for a freshman.
Parker didn’t play, whatever happened there.
He's playing C, not PF. That's part of the problem. But I agree he looked terrible in his 14 minutes. Even when Fisher was in foul trouble Sha wouldn't use Williams at the 4. Gave a series of overmatched guys minutes - Theo, Wol & Dolinski. They were all terrible.Devin Williams was clearly the most overrated by this board. This board talks him up like he’s a certified top tier PF. Fisher took his job quickly
Our defense is awesome!?Team was abysmal. Incredibly difficult to watch. The glass half full is: This is rock bottom, and the team will grow through November.
Give me the black over the gray any day of the week.Anyone know the final? I left at the under-8 timeout after watching Dolinski look like he won a contest to suit up and play four minutes. Also, let’s never wear the black uniforms again. It’s not 1999 anymore.
Struggling to break 50 against Monmouth is not good. Our offense is abysmal. As usual. They all seemed very lost and the body language of perpetual confusion was not inspiring confidence.
In an see why this team lost big at a bottom feeder ACC team and then needed a GW shot to beat Monmouth. It’s an exhibition and with all the new players this stuff happens. It’s why though me and others have been clamoring to schedule real exhibitions against real opponents. There is a difference between playing these games in front of fans as compared to some “closed door” scrimmage “safe space” so the staff can then spin to “insiders” whatever narrative they want. The outcomes don’t matter even if is a blowout to another good team, close game against a mid-low major or even a L to someone you should never lose to.
Offensively it seems like players who averaged in the teens for their previous teams are now turned into non-factors in Sha’s offense. It’s like he consistently does the opposite of “getting the best out of your players.” How much did we pay for Del Jones and Williams? It looked like their first time playing basketball. This has to be the Sha effect right? None of the other exhibitions I’ve watched look so lost, dazed, and confused. I’m predicting right now RU blows us out.
Just saying, based on where RU is right now vs where we are, if we played right now they would mop the floor with us. Sha has a lot of work to doIt was one exhibition game.
What Sha has consistently done in his 5 years here is out-perform expectations. We play ru in 6 weeks. Relax.
