Manske needs to start. Immediately. Against Purdue.
Yep. We’re going down the same stupid road that Franklin went down with Sean Clifford, and then with Drew Allar. You’ve got a 5th year QB with no future in football, who isn’t good, in a season that is lost with nothing worthwhile left to play for.

Continuing to start Becht serves absolutely zero purpose. You cut bait, and move on to the next guy. Get him some meaningful reps, and game experience so then when next year comes, you don’t have a total greenhorn under center.

Nah. That’s not Penn State football, lads! We just keep banging our head against the wall until the wall moves!

Don't think he needs to start but just inserted in the game (early on) for a series or two. Light a fire under Becht's a$$.
I mean, our OC said Manske was just too good and talented to not have on the field this year, which appears to be the ultimate sign a kid isnt going to sniff the field, weirdly. All we heard in the off season about this Jackson kid, quiton martin, manske....all so talented just cant keep them off the field or.....on it

What is Manske going to do, lose the game? In case you weren't watching, Becht has lost every BIG game he has started. Not looking good for much of that time.
I'm guessing Campbell would like to win the games too so if manske could help in that regard Campbell would probably play him.

Not rocket science Lando. You find out whether Manske can play. You have no idea whether he is a player or not.
That's false--if anything playing Manske creates multiple issues
1--he plays relatively well but not great it's going to cost a ton in NIL
2--he plays and then you lose the ability to find a QB in the portal and guarantee them the job
3--benching Rocco hurts your ability to bring in others in the portal because they don't trust you won't do the same if the season starts slow
Your accepting what this era is
And Manske is not the plan for next year--never was.

The lack of proper usage of “to be” is far more concerning, and it doesn’t matter if it’s a regional thing. It can’t happen.

Im sure Campbell would like to win also. But its also pretty obvious the current starting group isnt getting the job done. Hell Michigan benched their overpaid starter at halftime. At some point very soon, we are going to hit the definition of insanity... doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result.

Not going to happen Campbell going to sink or swim with Rocco. If you don't pull him after the last 3 or 4 games he never will.

I would have pulled him after the second pick but Manske would have needed to win the game for Rocco not to start
JMO--this board great overestimates how often a QB is benched. Underwood is the prime example despite the fact they had an elite prospect that is a Michigan Legacy behind him--Carr still had to wait 5.5 games and without the crazy pick by Zayas he might still be waiting.

I don't think replacing Becht changes anything. I agree that Manske should get a few series. That said because we have zero run game too much is on the QB and Becht can't carry the entire load and I doubt manske can either.
No doubt Becht had three terrible turnovers but the loss is not his alone. We are 7 games in and we have zero run game. There are not many QBs that can carry a team on their back with no run game.
Additionally why does the defense continue to collapse in the second half. Talent on the defensive line and linebacker is part of the problem but what's happening with our strength and conditioning program. Are these guys in shape because they fall apart in the second half.
I'm just saying we are missing the mark if we are blaming everything on Becht.

I agree with everything but, to be fair, with the above--Carr >>>>>>>>>> Underwood

I certainly agree Becht is far from the only issue on this team. But it would be valuable to see if a portal QB is needed as a starter or backup level (or recruit).

But in my opinion that goes for everyone on this team. Its hot garbage, with very few exceptions. All jobs should be on the line.

What about our defensive tackles. The only thing they have going for them is their waist lines. They are not aggressive, tough, or athletic. The linebackers are bad minus rojas but the defensive tackles are abysmal.
For as big as they are they seem to lack strength, outside of Nodim. I think he’s been pretty good overall.

Learned all I need to know when Becht went down two yards before the first down line when he could have ran a couple yards further, crossed the line and got the first down but might have taken a hit. What is he saving himself for - the NFL draft, the Purdue game? And he's done that more than once. GO DOWN AFTER YOU GET THE FIRST DOWN! Seems he is either a wussy or does not want to win bad enough.

Same road? Didn't we win 13 games with Allar one year and 11 with Clifford?

The second half performance is likely a serious lack of depth.

If the coaches had even a slight clue Manske would make the difference between winning and losing, that change would have happened long ago. Only the BWICAC who have never seen him play of practice are convinced he's the bomb.

Guys started 4 years as a D1 QB. He has endured multiple surgeries. I don't think we should be calling him a Wussy from out couches.

Why? I'm not against it but what does this do?
If anything it hurts us as we try to add players via the portal. Do you think next year's QB is on our roster now? I dont.
I do. The one thing that MC has proved this week is that he's loyal to those who followed him. He gives them every opportunity to fail or succeed.

I disagree. I agree that Manske should get some work but you have to try and win every game. That said Becht does some good things but those two interceptions were awful. There's no way a guy with his experience should throw those two passes. The sack and fumble is also a product of not knowing what's happening around you. Can't happen.
They need to start getting him meaningful snaps in every game going forward preparing him for next year. I have zero faith that PS can land anything in the portal that will be of significant help.

Fair enough--I don't think there's any chance Manske starts because I think MC knows he has to win
Agreed but the other guy needs to start this week getting snaps with the 1's in practice and get snaps at Purduka. As MC likes to say lets start growing it forward.

I'm not going to be angry if Rocco sits
Contray to what many here believe I think that hurts us in the future far more than it helps.

We dont know. They very well may be worse. But it is very apparent the 22 guys playing arent getting it done. So does Campbell trot the same guys out every week and lose? Or does he decide to see what others can do in a game? Maybe it lights a fire under someone's ***. It would be nice to see what we need in the portal and recruits... besides the easy answer of we need help everywhere.

I‘ve followed Penn State since 1972. It’s no contest, the 2026 LBs (excluding Rojas) are the worst in PSU Football history. We have 2 LBs who are flat out liabilities whenever they are on the field. They can’t tackle, can’t shed blocks and can’t cover anyone in passing situations. Just brutal.
