Second game in a row where the offensive play caller for the opposition is fully aware of how Danton Lynn's defense operates.
-Chip Kelly was with Lynn @ UCLA
-Lincoln Riley (USC) had Lynn as DC last year

Might be looking at another blowout, this time in front of home crowd.

We need an over / under for how many Becht passes get knocked down at the LOS.

Lynn also should know a lot about Riley’s offense and how to defend it, but that doesn’t matter if you have a bunch of apathetic and/or overmatched players. Remember that USC has been a very underwhelming team in Big 10 road games, even against mediocre and poor teams.

Did I see wonder-kind Jerry Neuheisel on the NW sideline last night? Surely he holds the keys to the PSU defense. He’s got it all figured out. We’ll be fine from here on out.

And he never changed up his defense to slow down the NW run game until late in the game when there was no way PSU could pull it out. So should we expect no adjustments against USC?
D'anton Lynn is a very good example of someone prematurely promoted into a position far beyond their capabilities only because of their last name and the achievements of their fathers. Others in this category are Rookie Becht and Jay Paterno.

Lynn is 36--spent 8 years in the NFL as an assistant with 5 different teams before becoming a DC at UCLA--not sure how that's nepotism

Now the mindset is we are getting whooped. So a close loss is acceptable. We are Purdue without the low tuition and USNWR ranking.
—-Purdue football might be better than us now too.

Who cares about low tuition? Who are we catering to? Waiters? Bartenders? Pubic servants? Pfft.

The only chance we have is to change kick off to 8 AM Beaver Stadium Time. The USC players body clocks will be at 5 AM and they will be "outta whack".

Penn State sleepwalking through an 8 a.m. kickoff… 😞

USC should win
USC probably should win easily
Crazier things have happened though than is beating USC. I don't think we do without Howard but USC isn't exactly Ohio State either. Rutgers hung with him...we can

Of course...we did with Wisconsin
I still firmly believe you all are underestimating how good Northwestern is. If they didn't have the most difficult schedule in the Big Ten they'd probably win 9 or 10 games...even with it they might win 9.
We were awful but Northwestern is very good.

Just saw a Husky pass receiver taking it down the sideline for a TD. USC tackling rivaling our own . Maybe they’ll have a gentlemen’s agreement to play flag football for the white out .
Example-

lol that is one of the most disgusting defensive efforts from a major college team I’ve ever seen.

Week by week, the PSU 2026 schedule is shown to be weAker and weAker.

A shame that it won't matter anymore.

I said before the season that this schedule was a "12-0" schedule under FormerHCJF. Those mediocre teams are the ones he just thrived on.
No one can spin back time, but at this point I would wager dollars to donuts that Gimme Jimmy woulda' put up a 12-0 - at WORST an 11-1 - vs this schedule.
(That doesn't mean PSU should have moved on from HCJF or not . But they sure as **** botched up the whole process - with a thoroughness of F up that only PK can make seem so effortless - once they (PK) did decide to can him)

He lost to UCLA and Northwestern last year with his "perfect roster" and this was always going to be a rebuild
He lost to Pitt Friday night at home blowing at 14-0 and Pitt lost their QB for the second half
You're overselling Franklin.

You nailed it. No coach can overcome a situation where your entire roster is completely overmatched. If you lack overall talent, you will not be very competitive in the B1G.

The frustrating part for me is the lack of the one trait that I thought that we would have and that is toughness and desire. Our OL Coach preaches fighting the DL, firing out, moving bodies and there appears to be talent on the OL, but in Big 10 play they have not been able to move anybody. RBs (who are not at the typical PSU level) are being hit in the backfield 40% of the time. So the lack of OL play is surprising and frustrating. The other aspect is the DL especially the DTs getting pushed back at will by Big 10 OLs.

The last frustrating part is the lack of the coaching staff to put our players into a place where we actually could be successful. Against NW have 8 in the box. Cover man to man all over the field. Make NW throw. We stay in our 4 / 2 / 5 defense as the LB are pushed 8 yards deep and our 3 safeties are starting 12 yards deep and we are surprised that NW averaged 8 yards per carry.

Rich Rod ran this defense with some stout defenders at Michigan and Big 10 teams ran down their throat. The one mis match that we had against NW was that our DBs were better than their WRs yet we protected our DBs and left our front 6 to get blown off the ball.

Coaches only job hop when they are encouraged to do so or sense that they're in over their head.

D'AL is drowning at PSU.... his schtick has caught up with him.
It's easy to blame the coaches, but the problem is much bigger. There is a lack of talent on both sides of the ball. I don't think there are a lot of kids on the roster who will be drafted by NFL teams.
