It’s year 7 actually. Even more damning

yeah, even worse. That should be more than enough time to have developed a 2nd string capable of beating UMass - you shouldn’t even need your starters. Roster turnover in football is nothing like what’s been happening in basketball.

I care if 50+ players leave, because we don’t have the NIL to replace them. Are you going to write the check? People have been posting a need of $30M, which is probably ballpark. That’s a 1,000 people x $30K. Do we have that?

Of course not, so stop with these delusions. Do you remember the 1996 team, how awful that was? That is probably what we’re looking at, if we blow this up. There won’t be adequate support to replace the players we lose.

Similar to how basketball was able to get better players next year, Kelli is raising more NIL money for next year for football. So football should be able to get better players next year from the portal. Also, there is a learning curve to managing the portal, which is why we didn’t fare so well. Lastly, the kids are getting better. Bradlee Jones played much much against BC than against UMass. The kids we got this year, will be acclimating to this level of play and be ready to go next year. We don’t recruit players, we develop them.

so keeping things status quo will allow us to be focused, and address primary needs. TE, LT, RT, 2 DEs, and a CB should be our first priority. QBs will be a year better. Next go round in the portal we have to take fewer, better players.

If we had no NIL, we wouldn’t have Duff or Raymond. We’re now middle of the pack in NIL, spending between 20-30 mil.

Are 50 players who couldn’t beat an awful MAC team worth retaining?

We have beer $30MM already. Schiano doesn’t know what to do with it. He’s a loser

Al telling people there’s no money for buyouts is comical. He has no idea what Tate & Zinn may have done to raise funds to cover these expenses. But keep droning on like your an AD insider when they don’t even know your name. 😂
They know his name. He’s been told not to attend some tailgates and some official events. He scares women.

You need to learn the difference between operational expense, capital expense, and NIL. We are overspending in OPEX, because our CAPEX and NIL are very poor. So it is taking more effort to land players.

GW beat VT, MSU, MD and Miami. Thats good enough. Not every kid is going to live up to expectations.

Schiano should get a pass due to the extraordinary circumstances this year. Losing a significant amount of talent to graduation and the transfer portal, and not having enough NIL to replace it, has placed us in a difficult position.

Schiano should be brought back no matter what. The AD just lost $78M last year. There’s no money for buyouts, unless someone steps up, which we know isn’t going to happen. Plus there isn’t enough NIL to replace the roster, unless people step up, which we also know isn’t going to happen. The most prudent thing to do is run it back.
So you’re saying we didn’t have enough NIL to beat UMass or BC? We’re not talking about competing with Ohio State.

We are heading for 2-10 if we pull out an upset. I will be completely shocked if we reach 4-8. Maybe I will be wrong. I can't see how you can keep Schiano unless we get at least 4 wins including a top 25 win. Otherwise, ticket sales and donations will just continue to drop.

If we are 2-10, he should be fired before the last weekend is over.

All you’re capable of doing is recycling BS. Tell me how much they raised for the buyouts.

The Rutgers AD Lost $78M last year, and you think they have money for buyouts! HA! Real 🤡stuff, but par the course for you. I have an analytical mind which you lack.
Oh the irony in this opening line from the King of Message Board fools.

Imagine not being able to wrap your head around a simple concept like Tate and Zinn may already have funds waiting for buyouts.

Repeatedly citing the deficit is your way of saying I have no answer but I need to deflect with something like a typical liberal idiot crying about climate change and islands will be under water.

No matter how hard you stomp your feet, it won’t change the fact that Greg is gone. You don’t lose to UMass and BC and their small or non-existent NIL by P4 standards and keep your job. Not on President WIN’s watch.

Al's comical yet illogical defense of Gary is really odd. I honestly wonder if he's involved in the kickback scheme and that's why he's so defensive of him. I don't know how widespread it is or who is involved but hoping the investigation sheds light on this soon.

First of all - you start this thread and entitle it - Schiano deserves a mulligan. You create another one pertaining to a coach whose season hasn’t even started yet who was just diagnosed with cancer on the Roundtable - “Why does Pike deserve a pass?” if you can’t see what a Jack A— thing to do right now that is - I don’t know what to tell you.

But health obstacles aside, never say never, but it would be awfully hard for the Pike / Brandin tag team to perform worse on the season than Greg is trending towards. We are heavy underdogs in every single remaining football game except Howard (Mich State our best chance at 23.6% according to ESPN). It would take an even worse record than Eddie Jordan’s final season in basketball to match the level of failure we seem to be looking at for the football team this season (percentage wise)

The thing is what he is ranting about was discussed and debunked in the fall and winter when he brought it up then in comparison to Indiana. RU outspent IU in the same period in capital expenditures by a wide margin. And RU spends competitively with our peers in that regard. There are maybe 4 outliers in the B1G that obviously outspend us in that category. It’s an allocation versus spending issue. And we blow everyone out of the water in opex. We are only outspent by the bluest of blue bloods. 2.5-3x median B1G. And going by the numbers he posted earlier debunk his claims regarding NIL as well. Middle 8 of the B1G have similar NIL numbers. Bad day bad day!!

May, should, would, could means you don’t know 💩. Rutgers financial situation is why there is a hiring freeze. It would be fiscally irresponsible to get rid of the current staff and hire a new one, especially when we can fix our talent issues with kids from the portal.

I know. But I’m calling him out on the threads themselves - not even the flawed details contained within them (to be fair, I can’t even open the one on RT to opine on that one). This thread standing on its own is bad enough for the reasons you state and in combination with the awful 0-2 start.

But to start a concurrent thread titled “Why does Pike get a pass?” is, in my view beyond the pale. Greg should get a mulligan for this disaster of a season, but comparatively Pike shouldn’t get slack at all despite health issues preventing him from being able to coach his own team at 100%? The only conclusion to be drawn here is that he’s deliberately seeking negative, controversial attention.

So why is it hard for you to grasp that Tate & Zinn may have done some preemptive planning given the freeze?

You know nothing but keep thinking you do. Typical liberal telling everyone they are stupid when we all see right through you.

We won’t cry for you during the bye week when the coaching change is made.

She didn’t lose 78 MM ! Zinn inherited a rudderless ship who was out in that position by a bad AD(Hobbs) and a completely awful HC (Greggy). The revenue driver in collegiate sports is football. Greggy’s in ability to win and his bloated nepotism staff put us in debt.

Zinn will quickly re shape RU athletics by getting rid of Greg and bringing in a winner.

I had read posts on this board that complement Al as a person when he was being discussed on how he is outside this board.
So it makes me wonder if AL has been 86ed from a lot of tailgates
I imagine because of his posts on this board he isn;t welcomed to tailgates by some who have never met him in person and only go by his posts here
But, I would guess, also considered a welcome addition by those that have met him in person

Be serious. Does any other B1G team have a QB situation similar to ours? No! Because they’re serious about winning football games. Greg didn’t have budget to get a good QB. Thats why we are making do, with Surace and Lonergan. Neither of whom were good enough to beat UMass or BC. Even Maryland paid for a 5 ⭐️QB.

Does Rutgers have the NIL to replace the 50+ transfers that are likely to occur? No! Do you really think the AD has funds to pay buyouts? It lost $78M last year! They’d probably need to borrow from the academic side, because we sure don’t have boosters who would write the check.
Then how come you didn't call out that AJ and Dylan were bad before the season started

What’s funny is Obrien is and was upset about Lonergan leaving. He wanted him to stay and said so multiple times in his off season and lead into our game interviews. So Rutgers had to up what BC offered. Because it’s not like they tossed him away. Greg and team prioritized Lonergan and his skill set.
They should have prioritized Pop Watson

Al, I actually think that I understand what you are trying to say....which is why waste money on a new coach if we dont have the resources. What you seem to be missing is that RU will be very unlikely to raise significant NIL with Schiano here at this point. Most people have lost complete faith in him and he's pretty much over stayed his run at RU. Very difficult to motivate people or businesses to donate to something they dont believe in. At least a change brings new hope.
Ding ding ding we have a winner. Not sure why Al is too stupid to understand this

Usually when he posts this nonsense I mostly just ignore it since he’s not putting anyone down. Let him spew off completely unwarranted praise - GW a super star in the making, trending 1-11 Schiano doesn’t deserve to be on the hot seat, and so on. Who cares. Let him talk.

This really bothered me though seeing that he started another thread alongside this one stating that Pike should NOT get a pass. It’s just such inappropriate timing for that crap. Not to mention that with the way Schiano’s season started - it’s also head scratching. 1-11 would be the equivalent of 3-33 in basketball.

Is this seriously a rumor going around? Because it doesn't make sense how Rutgers gets all of these lower level transfers year after year. Even this year with over 20 million the starting linebackers transferred in from Drake and rice. While UMass spends 4 million and has power four transfers all over the field. They even had a set of twin defensive lineman from Indiana. What is that about?

Yup this hits my point - in this case it’s not so much this thread singing Schiano’s praise that alone gets under my skin, it’s the other one alongside it about our coach who is battling cancer. Starting these two strings together is a major insult to Pike and the last thing he deserves right now before his season even starts. From anyone.
