Yeah but...upgrading the back end of the bullpen would be nice...if the Yankees didn't have a good number of other areas that needed their attention.
Yarbrough was excellent tonight in three innings of relief for Cole, who looked like his old self.
And the offense scored 6 runs tonight, after 5 last night. And Bellinger should be back this weekend.
See...it's not all doom and gloom.
Just a few days ago you were crying about them dropping to 3rd place, good God Amigo.- - - - - - Make up your mind.
The Yankees will be in third place in their division any day now.
I honestly don't know which was a worse experience for me....watching the Rutgers football defense in 2025 or the Yankees offense in 2026.

If you were watching this Yankees season you would understand the incredible ups and downs throughout 2026.
It's been remarkable. One day they'll convince you that they'll never win another game and the next they'll have you believing that they couldn't possibly lose another game.

Lombard and Jones have given this team some energy that seemed missing earlier.

Now, if we could just see Chisholm and Grisham play with some sense of urgency!

Hard to complain after a 5 game winning streak, but…..

1st inning: runner on 3rd, one out; does not score
2nd inning: runner on 3rd, one out; does not score
9th inning: lead off double; does not score

Lose by one.

So true.
And it's not like we haven't seen this type of baseball a lot from the Yankees.
Worst clutch hitting team in MLB.

Yup, pretty much all I have left is to watch another October crash and burn. Mutts fans, Stankees fans, whatever, who cries more is the question. Every year you guys win 90+ and cry like mother forkers, too funny. However, in modern baseball eras (such as since 2010), the Yankees have accumulated the most postseason appearances without a title in specific multi-year stretches. Come another October, I like my chances despite another historically, embarrassingly weak American League. A division winner could be sub .500 as well as a Wild Card team. Long gone are the cries of Yankees fans complaining that they play in the AL East, the strongest division, lol.

I don't think the 5 mil made the difference. I heard it was the clothing allowance for Soto's mother that sealed the deal for the Mets.
BTW, Mets fans need to shut up. I'm hearing some people say that, given their huge payroll and lack of results, they may be the worst team dollar-for-dollar in MLB history.
^^^ This one bears repeating.

The usual subjects, Ramos amd Wells, not getting it done.

Someone, anyone, tell me why Cashman traded for Ramos and didn't upgrade over Wells???

Imagine this...Yankee bullpen loses another game.
This time the Astros.

Cruz is truly pitching like dogshiit. He really must not want to be on the post season roster?
Good thing Cashman didn't acquire bullpen help at the deadline.

I knew the Yanks were in trouble when Warren was consistently pitching from behind. I've seen him pitch better than he did last night.
I don't know what they'll do with him when the rotation is solidified for the playoffs as Cole, Fried, Schlittler, Rodon, and Weathers.
On the bright side it was nice to see Garcia and Bellinger provide some badly needed pop to the offense.

Elmer Rodriguez finally looked like the Yankees top minor league pitching prospect tonight.
And Luis Garcia jr. looked like a quality improvemen to their offense.
Nice win over the Astros. 9-3.

Like beating a dead horse, but NYY are such a terrible team at fundamentals.
Defense, base running, advancing runners is just stuff kids learn as youngsters.

And there are seldom ramifications from Boone and Cashman when they happen.

One final comment today. I fully expect Stanton will never see the field again as a Yankee.

I thought beating a dead horse was sorta your thing.
Also, many Yankees fans have thought Stanton had already played his last game for the Yankees for a while now.

A real nail-biter tonight. Goldschmidt provided all of the offense with a solo home run. Bellinger threw out the Bosux best scoring attempt with a great throw to get the potential tying run at the plate Final score 1-0.
Schlittler wasn't even at his best...with 5 walks. Nevertheless, a huge win.
Now two more tomorrow and one on Sunday with Boston before heading out to start a west coast road trip on Monday.

George is rolling over in his grave with this franchise in it's current state.

Almost everyone now looks back with fondness at the King George era. But if you lived it (or perhaps forgot) it was Gabe Paul and Gene Michael that built the foundation for championship teams while George was suspended first in the 70s and then again in the early 90s. He mellowed in his later years after the Dynasty in the late 90's - early 2000's that Michael mostly had engineered.

Agree, and George made changes when things weren't going well.

Boone and Cashman wouldn't be still in their positions with George.

Nice win in the night game last night. Who would have ever thought the Yankees would get 13 hits in a game vs. Boston and all of them would be singles ?
Blackburn came up real big. Also, Garcia looks like a good addition to the lineup.

Jazz Chisholm is such an dumbazz.

That crap he pulled today will get him drilled the next time they play at Fenway.

And he'll deserve it.

16-1 over Boston.... three out of four wins in this series.
And you wanna talk about Boston throwing at Jazz....because he stole two bases with the Yanks up 7-1 ?
Like a six run lead is safe...especially for that potent Boston lineup ?
Are you sure you're not a Bosux or mets fan ?
A real Yankees fan would be complaining about their schedule, which has them playing four games in three days against Boston in the Bronx....ending with that big win..... and then playing another game Monday in California vs. the Angels. I know it must have been a very happy plane ride, but what ever happened to travel days ?

60 year Yankee fan...that despises the way Chisholm plays baseball.

Another example...the other day he makes an error on a double play ball and blames the umpire for being in his field of vision.
At any level of baseball, including 9U, you can ask the ump to move if you can't see the batter.
He must have compromising photos of Boone to not get benched.

Elmer Rodriguez...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Someone, anyone, tell me how fvcking stupid does a manager have to be to pitch your closer in a game you have zero chance of winning and he ends up throwing 28 pitches...vitually guaranteeing he's unavailable for tomorrow in a potential save situation?

Is this real????
Does shopping the "bargain bin" at Walmart for relievers really work?

Turns out we didn't need our closer tonight. Cole looked pretty good and Headrick and Blackburn took care of the rest.
Also, Spencer Jones seems to be contributing on a regular basis lately.

What's stupid is Bednar was warming up in the bullpen before they added those runs in the top of 9th.

So Boone was absolutely going to use him.
Beyond ridiculous.

Gonna bet my entire 401k today that newly acquired reliever Fulmer is going to be released by Friday.

I'm answering my own question that shopping at Walmart for bullpen help after the deadline isn't a great idea.

They said on the broadcast tonight that Schlittler had just set a Yankees record with his 19th start this season allowing one or less runs in a game.
How impressive is that ?
BTW, I know Austin Wells has been hitting better lately, but who would expect him to get the big hit in the tenth tonight ?

Against SD...Boone can't even see a bad call on a steal of 3rd by Jones in the 10th when it was obvious he was safe and he had a review to use. And running with Ramos, a strikeout guy, at bat.

WTF
Good ole Booney, cost them another game.
Or certainly didn't give them a better chance to win.
With one of the worst baserunning teams in MLB, Grisham/Chisholm/Jones all caught stealing.
Brainiac stuff tonite.
Swear to god, he's trying to lose.

As usual, excellent pitching but weak bats.
15 strike outs ?
One bad pitch by Blackburn cost the game.

SSDD

Swing and miss offense doesn't win playoff games.

Also: I'm glad no one took my bet that Fulmer would be released by Friday.
But, he should have been. Pitched again last nite and sucked again. I believe he pitched to four guys and had full counts on everyone and walked two.
Does he have compromising photos of Cashman/Boone?

Nice win, with some excellent pitching.... again.. Rodon is back.
Ben Rice has gotten hot again. And Spencer Jones is looking good. And I hear the captain may be returning to the lineup this week.
October could get very interesting.

After playing three games vs. the Padres (all of which the Yankees coulda/shoulda won) I can't help wondering why they don't have a much better record.
They have a nice lineup....Tatis, Bogaerts, Machado.... and impressive pitching...especially that bullpen. How could they be fighting just to make the last wild card spot in the NL ?
