Givi Matcharashvili-2022 senior worlds-3rd, 2023 senior worlds-3rd, 2024 Olympics-2nd

Ivan Prymachenko-2023-U20 worlds-2nd, 2024-U23 worlds-5th

Zbigniew Baranowski-2024 Olympics-8th, 2025 senior worlds-5th

This should be a Buchanan vs Matcharashvili final which would be good. I’m interested to watch Endene

US reps-Cole Mirasola, Crew Howard, Jordan Wood, Taye Ghadiali

Robert Baran-2024 Olympics-5th, 2025 senior worlds-3rd

Baran is probably the favorite. I really want to see Cole against him, Ghadiali, and Wood. Different body types with different skills. Cole can win this weight but Baran has a ton of experience at a high level

Pretty horrible tournament overall. A couple of good weights with a bunch of awful ones. I expect a lot of Americans wrestling each other for medals. 70kg and 61kg are the weights I’m most interested in. 70kg is by far the toughest which should be good for Zain. The more tough matches he can get the better he will be at worlds. I want to see Blaze vs Desanto as well.

Cole's round 4 opponent is Crew Howard, a DII wrestler from a Nebraska branch campus, now at the Hawkeye RTC.

Cole to the bronze match.

9:48 am report

86 kg - Olejnik to bronze match, Keck to gold match
92 kg - Plott to gold mtch
97 kg - Endene to gold match
125 kg - Cole vs Jordan Wood for bronze

11:45 edited to say I might be incorrect about the Cole vs Wood final (according to Basch), although my reading of the bracket still indicates Mirasola vs Wood and Kościółek vs Kochano.

Is it an Endene vs Buchanan final?

Who did Cole lose to?

Gold for Keck 11-1 tech. Also, bout board says Woods/Mirasola.

Gold for Plott 14-4 tech.

Silver for Endene 6-3 to Poland's Baranowski.

Cole has been teched by Jordan Wood 11-0.

4 medals in 4 weights for team USA.

I wonder if Casey came home between Slovakia and Poland. And will he stay in Europe for Moscow?

Buchanan lost twice and is not in a medal match. He lost to Zbigniew of Poland and Uri of Israel.
This is surprising…

Didn't he win the US Open, the Henri Deglane and the Zagreb? I was thinking he was making a lot of progress and could legit challenge Snyder soon. My memory might be faulty…

Yes he won all of those and won 1 match against Snyder. He lost matches he was winning late . He just stopped wrestling.

I'm not sure how much it affected him, but in one of his earlier matches it looked like he hurt his ribs on a TD attempt. It looked like he noticeably slowed down after that.

Barring injury, Kalashnikov is a bad loss for Buchanan. This was his first tourney at 97 kg, and he wasn't exactly a smashing success at lower weights -- last medal was at 2018 JR Euros. Typically places below 10th, including Euros and ranking series events. Best finish at SR Worlds was 11th.

Levi with the 12-2 tech over fellow USA wrestler Patrick Kennedy. That match was probably the "virtual final".
Levi is looking great, but you have to hand it to Kennedy as he always puts up a fight. Also, the best thing so far about this tournament is not having to watch people go in and out of a door while matches are being wrestled!

Marcus is just so positionally sound that it was giving DeSanto fits. Marcus' style works so well for him in freestyle.
