If you have a paid sub to this site, you can go to the Clemson site. They still have a politics board, and it's kind funny as you transplants from FSU and Iowa along with some PSU guys and of course the Clemson guys. LB is there with the same schtick.
Great I'll try it. thx

People talk about "culture" all the time - and, particularly wrt the football program, folks eat that sh&t up (even if much of the time it is jibberish)

Well, I will tell you that the one HUGE cultural shift at PSU - the real one, that dominates to this day, is the culture that changed when the Board and many of the powers-that-be jumped headlong like a flock of lemmings into the "Sandusky Ocean".

That cultural change - and, spoiler alert, it is WORSE today than it was 14 years ago, 10 years ago, or 6 years ago - has laid serious damage onto Penn State and everything it would hope to be.
It is not all due to "Sandusky", but that was without a doubt the catalyst for it all.
yep, yep yep 1000 times yep

you don't seem to understand "the Pedo State" is much bigger the Joe and that narrative is fed by not vetting the claims doing it honestly and shining on the truth. As i said earlier JS could have abused 1 child and he is where he belongs but Penn State university doesn't and didn't deserve the treatment it got and continues to get. Getting back to today and football, if you think this episode hasn't affected our NIL with mega donors you are sorry mistaken. These 8 figure net worth folks don't need there friends asking why they are donating to Ped State.
We (some of us) continue to support and defend Sandusky (see this thread) which supports the idiotic attacks we face. It's clear to me many here only care about the program and not the real victims.
This hasn't impacted our NIL money--ask anyone that actually knows. I'm sure you think everyone returned last year cheap

What is the motivation for Rittmeyer to come forth and recant his testimony of almost 15 years ago? He was awarded $5.5 million. So what's to gain by going through this process? I just don't get it.

Sounds like the *best* outcome the defendant could reasonably hope for is a vacation of counts related to V10.

Interesting to see the story being picked up by ABC, CBS, NY Post, etc.

I recall a column by Dan Wetzel when attorney Andreozzi and detective Leiter were caught talking on tape about leading a witness after previously testifying that they had never done such a thing. They were literally caught in a lie.

View attachment 1410394

Still, that doesn't undo the investigation in 1998 when Sandusky said he wished he were dead, nor McQueary's report in 2001, nor the report to Jack Raykovitz/The Second Mile, nor Joe's testimony, nor some of the testimony from the accusers before they were coached (one said Jerry touched his privates in the shower but moved away and Jerry stopped).

Not to mention Jerry's promise that he was going to take the stand and testify, which turned out to be a bluff.

I decided it was not worth defending Jerry's innocence when he himself refused to do so. Maybe if Jerry took the stand and addressed each accuser by name, like, "Johnny, I pulled you off the streets and gave you a second chance. I coached you, I mentored you, I took you into my home and family. You and I both know that I never touched you inappropriately in any way. After all I did for you, how could you say I did these horrible things to you?"

Instead, Jerry sat it out.

JMHO.
His interview with Bob Costas did him in. After that performance you could never put him on the stand.

Original...try all you want but you're transparent.
I'm FOS for not supporting a CONVICTED PEDOPHILE. Yeah seems good. Glad that's the hill you want to die on.

I support the right to a fair trial.....and you don't. Seems un-American to me, but hey, if that's the hill you want to die on, then so be it.

He had a fair trial--one person recanting doesn't change the fact he's guilty of every other count. He'll die in prison (thankfully) and children are safer because of it. The fact you don't believe the trial was fair is the real problem.

Apparently, victim #10 does not agree with you....and neither do I, because you're FOS....and everyone here knows it.

Btw, what victim # are you?

You're not making any sense--one person recanting their testimony doesn't alter the other convictions. That's not an opinion. See what this hearing is to decide. You don't comprehend law or the legal system.
Your last question just proves what a loser you are in life. Your belief that only a victim would comprehend the legal system or want a pedophile locked up is pathetic. Also, you don't believe there were victims apparently so your comment makes even less sense
Educate yourself and stop thinking about Paterno

It shouldn't. There's false testimony in every trial on both sides. This also has zero impact on the other counts which is why anyone who read the article comprehends this isn't getting Sandusky a new trial.
We know the truth...he's a pedophile. Nothing else matters.
So why do you think Rittmeyer is doing this? To me it makes no sense at all. He has his 5.5 million settlement and it's almost 15 years later. What is his motivation?

What's interesting is what Rittmeyer is going say on the stand. To me, the recant is secondary to what Sandusky's lawyers are really attempting to do. I believe Rittmeyer will testify that the PSP and his attorneys conspired to sway and change his testimony leading up to the trial. They are trying to open a can of worms to persuade investigators to go down that rabbit hole and have these guys testify under oath to answer questions about their pretrial witness preparation. Not saying these tactics will earn Sandusky another trial, but this has to be the plan. Sandusky's attorneys know full well that a simple recant will not give him a new trial.

Could be countless things--including making more money off his story
Do we believe for a second he doesn't have a deal lined up?

Sandusky has almost no chance of getting a new trial ever--unless all the victims come forward. Rittmeyer already has no credibility so his claims that he was "conspired to sway and change" his testimony is moot.

I agree with the chances of a new trial. But I also believe this is Sandusky's grasp for straws.

In related news, it turns out that one victim of Ted Bundy also recanted her testimony...so free Ted Bundy 😂.

STFU and move on. You clowns ARE the reason the rest of the nation still makes Ped State jokes. And all because of Paterno worship. Nobody cares anymore about blaming Joe, the Nation has realized he was a VERY old man without any understanding of the modern crime of pedophilia. The nation has stopped blaming Joe. It's you idiots supporting this pedophile, that are the problem now.

He doesn't deserve a new trial. He's a sick pedophile who will die in prison and thank GOD for it.

So a discussion about this hearing translates to supporting a pedophile? That's a stretch Frances. In fact, it has been posted here many times that Sandusky will not be granted another trial.

To be fair, you understand that (thankfully) but many here still think this not only gets him a new trial but proves that he's innocent of all charges.

There are two levels of JoeBottery. The first is, Sandusky is a P3do and Joe didn't know it. Ziegler first tried that but the evidence was too damning that JoePa did know what was up. So, the second or "Full Monte JoeBottery" came out. They doubled down and now say it all never happened. The kids all lied to get money and Sandusky is innocent. That gets the school, Joe, CSS and everyone off the hook. It's like Area 51.

Not sure why this needs explained but members of our fan base incorrectly believe that Sandusky getting a new trial would change how Joe is viewed. Joe handled things properly. Unless MM states he never advised Joe of a potential issue then the guilt or innocence of Sandusky remains irrelevant in the court of public opinion. People either accept Joe met his legal obligation (as he did) or they believe he should have done more due to his power and influence.
This isn't about Sandusky...never has been
Most of the public today believe that while Joe did the legal minimum to save his azz he failed morally to live up to his carefully crafted image of high morality. He was a great coach and won games but in the end was not a great man. Two things can be true at the same time.

There are at least 5 subplots one should consider when addressing the Sandusky "Scandal."
1, The Corbett/Spanier issues
2. The significant incest between members of the BOT their families and corporations
3. McQueary was completely compromised
4. The Surma Family's desire to "destroy the rat."
5. Perhaps the biggest circumstance to overcome, fortunes were made (not just by the claimants) but lawyers and business people who sold investments and big ticket items to the neo rich (and stupid).

To add to the accuser who now recants:
Prosecutors were censured
Judges were removed, reassigned and retired
PSU's general counsel was sanctioned
Corbett was retired by citizens of The Commonwealth
Jonelle Eshbach couldn't get elected dog catcher
The record shows that Paterno knew of at least one credible report (2001) that Sandusky was involved in inappropriate sexual conduct with a child and had been aware of prior concerns. While he did report the 2001 incident to his superiors, multiple investigations concluded that he failed to use his influence to stop Sandusky and protect children. Joe also participated in the decision not to report Sandusky.
