Wouldn’t have helped much especially at the position we needed helpWhat really sucks about this whole 5 in 5 rule is there was absolutely no reason for Hawthorne to redshirt last year.
More than nothing, maybe he been better than JJWouldn’t have helped much especially at the position we needed help
We're waiting on Mitchell, you're waiting to battle fans lol.If we don't land one of these guys, look for the first poster who responds with something trite like, "We'll be fine" as a response to missing on a guy who would have made us a true Final Four contender.
I'm convinced those types of fans have no understanding of what you need to actually make a Final Four. Either that or they're naive or contrarian trolling. In any of those three cases, their perspectives are mostly trash on a great multitude of issues.
It was stupid to exclude them, this wouldn’t be an issue had they done the smart thing.Well that sucks, why would the ncaa even care about this group, just let them play, what difference does it make
Yeah the Police and DA ruined the case on their own. Johnny was just too smart and got the public pressure to mount. He was a world class attorney and had probably the greatest law team ever assembled honestly for a case.No doubt that he was guilty and his team absolutely played the race card since the Rodney King issue was still fresh in people's memory. The defense team exploited the incompetence of the prosecutors team.
The lead detective didn't help either. OJ should have been in prison for life . Unfortunately the families of the victims didn't receive justice but its not the fault of the defense team. They did their job better and all of us would want that same tenacity if we were on trial.

I think a lot of young people haven’t even seen an elite team here or have forgotten what an actual championship team looks like when they play. We have had some talented teams with the right breaks who could have made a run but not a single one where we lined up as the favorite in every game we entered the last 10 years. If we don't land one of these guys, look for the first poster who responds with something trite like, "We'll be fine" as a response to missing on a guy who would have made us a true Final Four contender.

Tuesday the day we find out ?
Agree, the police and district attorney definitely blew it.Yeah the Police and DA ruined the case on their own. Johnny was just too smart and got the public pressure to mount. He was a world class attorney and had probably the greatest attorney law team ever assembled honestly for a case.
Definitely in the top 10. Louisville and Texas are getting plenty of top 10 hype and I’d take our squad all day.Where does Mitchell put us realistically
I mean…….. lol“The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers“ 2 Henry VI, IV.ii.73
UofL only has 11 Scholarship players signed. They could add 4 more if they wanted. We're waiting on Mitchell, you're waiting to battle fans lol.
I'd say at this point getting Mitchell is looking pretty good. Seems clear he wants to play in the state of KY and unless you believe he's choosing Louisville (with 17 other guys), let's call this a late summer gift from a judge because we could potentially land our (new) best player in a few days. Take some potential great news and be happy for a change lol.
The SEC is going to be brutal again. Per ESPN, there are 3 SEC teams in the pre-season top 10 and 7 in the top 25. They have us at 19. Fortunately, it doesn't look like our non-conference schedule will be very difficult.Where does Mitchell put us realistically

If we get Mitchell, I think we're a potential Final Four team. If not, I'm thinking S16 is the ceiling.
Due to the transfer portal and NIL, college basketball is EXTREMELY top heavy now. The tournament should be tougher than it's ever been.

Well, don’t count me in with either of those groups. If we don't land one of these guys, look for the first poster who responds with something trite like, "We'll be fine" as a response to missing on a guy who would have made us a true Final Four contender.

So would you be more optimistic with a starting 5 that included Kam Williams at the 3/Milan at the 4 instead of moving Milan to the 3 and starting Mitchell at the 4?Well, don’t count me in with either of those groups.
I do not think we are a Final Four contender with or without Mitchell. I’m not even sure he improves the roster significantly, despite the fact that he is obviously, in a vacuum, a much better player than some of the other guys he’d take minutes from.
The real sad thing here is how quick some of you are to vilify those optimistic fans who want to be happy sans Mitchell, even though some of you who have all your eggs in the Mitchell basket are getting caught up in the excitement too much yourselves. Fans who tend to be optimistic are doing nothing wrong, even if they stay positive without Mitchell.
I wish I was optimistic personally. We have heard from multiple sources in Jack’s reports that this team has an Elite Eight ceiling. I don’t see how poor spacing resolves that. I think it more likely downgraded the offense a little and improves the defense more. Our team is very flawed and I’ll be cheering every game with or without Mitchell but I think people are drinking too much Kool-Aid.
PDS score of 10Well, don’t count me in with either of those groups.

I think it’d be more fair to say the difference in these two lineups is negligible. So would you be more optimistic with a starting 5 that included Kam Williams at the 3/Milan at the 4 instead of moving Milan to the 3 and starting Mitchell at the 4?
Wrong guy. I like Pope a lot and want him to flourish here.PDS score of 10
Put Kam at the 2. Bring Wilkins off the bench.I think it’d be more fair to say the difference in these two lineups is negligible.

I think Mitchell is worlds better than Kam in a vacuum, but I’m looking at the coordination of the parts and I can already see how this team is going to get defended.
As far as defensively, more teams use a perimeter-oriented, finesse or hybrid PF than ever before. Mitchell will lock those types down. However, now Milan is going to have to guard SFs. That is going to be a problem. I’d much rather have Milan defending modern 4s than 3s. Either way, I think we are going to struggle on the boards.
You aren’t worried about the reports of his streaking shooting tendencies? We had rave reports of guys being automatic shooters last summer and when the games started, they couldn’t buy one. My hope is Wilkins is a 35% guy but who knows?Put Kam at the 2. Bring Wilkins off the bench.
The other element of it all is this. What if Wilkins shoots around 35% from three this year? That changes everything, and Pope said he is making over 50% of his contested threes this summer in practice games.
If he improves his shooting, it allows Kentucky to have two shooters on the court at all times.
I apologize, so many haters on here have skewed my judgement. I have R.R. Derangement SyndromeWrong guy. I like Pope a lot and want him to flourish here.
35% on high 3pt shooting splits wouldn’t be bad plus all Wilkins other skillsYou aren’t worried about the reports of his streaking shooting tendencies? I don’t have concerns about all of Wilkins’ other skills. A few days ago, I saw a couple people posting things like “now do there 2pt percentages” and all that. People aren’t getting why this is a big deal. It all affects how defenses guard all of our players off-ball. If you have multiple non-shooters in the game simultaneously, you won’t be able to get the spacing needed to create easy opportunities and that means a less efficient offense. As efficient as college basketball is NOW, I don’t think you have a real shot without that pace and space.35% on high 3pt shooting splits wouldn’t be bad plus all Wilkins other skills

Mitchell isn’t a great rebounder either. He’s obviously better than Milan who is awful at it. There isn’t a perfect solution though. I believe you gain more than you lose with Milan as the 4. He won’t be able to guard 3’s AND you still won’t be able to rebound with Mitchell at the 4 AND now your PF can’t shoot free throws AND now you’re getting double teamed in the paint AND you no longer have the space to run your offense.Momcilovic is not a 4. He’s not a good rebounder either. I would put McBride or Ndiaye in with him long before you’d pair him with Kam Williams at the 3/4
There’s no such thing as heavy off ball gap with Mitchell and for that matter an off ball gap for Zoom.I don’t have concerns about all of Wilkins’ other skills. Zoom —> off-ball gap
Wilkins —> play normal
Mom —> smother, stay home
Mitchell —> heavy off-ball gap
Moreno —> heavy off-ball gap
^ This is how teams would typically defend each of these players when they are on the perimeter off-ball. Not only does the gaps cut off back cut opportunities, but the deeper the gap, the easier the help. Now, you can do things like double the post when Mitchell gets a foot in the paint or shade a help defender to trap Moreno. I see this as a serious potential problem, the same one way made last offseason.
If you’re playing far off a guy like Zoom you’re already in position to cut him off going downhill. The difference with Oweh is that, while his mechanics were ugly, he actually was a steady threat to make catch and shoot 3s.There’s no such thing as heavy off ball gap with Mitchell and for that matter an off ball gap for Zoom.
Sure I hope they can shoot better but these guys aren’t forced to just stand there if a guys playing off of them. Mitchell will close that gap in a hurry and if no help comes he’s scoring. Play too far of Zoom, you’ve just allow him to get going downhill like Oweh and it’s over or again, you have to double team.
Playing the way you described, I’d put Mitchell and Momcilovic on the same side and if you play WAY off Mitchell. Momcilovic is getting tons of open looks off of Mitchell by him slipping over to screen the only other guy on the perimeter of that side of the floor.
I think this summer would have allowed Kam to make the jump that a lot expected him to make last season. It obviously seems like that won't happen now.Put Kam at the 2. Bring Wilkins off the bench.
