I am hoping we hear the OLIne is doing well but at the same time the DLine is giving them trouble in practice and scrimmages.

IIRC I think the last Spring game I saw was 2014 and we all saw this young guy name Beathard just throwing darts, leading receivers very well, strong arm and throwing thru small windows. Man I noticed it as did many others. I hope we at least 2 QBs who can do that to a high degree.

Plenty of new receivers and Dbacks to also hear about.

My friend who lives in Iowa City said there was a bunch of positive chatter about a punt returner who won sprint track titles and had really good movement as well. He did not hear the name but said he was a new comer. Any ideas on who this might be?

I would guess Hadad, the transfer from OSU. I think Lutmer is doing punt returns this year though.

Part of me wants that as well because of what we have heard, but the other part of me knows that height and being able to see the field better may mean Hank is the better option. Although you can name a lot of shorter QBs that were very productive and I would like to see Kirk go back to allowing the Stanzi model where the QB is not so gun shy because they feel like a couple of INTs will get them pulled.

For those that didn't watch the interview, I found it interesting in the recent ANF podcast with Tim Lester, Tim basically says without any hesitancy (paraphrasing) that he doesn't care how awesome you were in high school, you aren't going to be the QB in his system if you don't have the arm strength to make "all the throws".

Could that signify he is leaning Hank at this point without really saying it?....Or does Heck have a strong enough arm to make "all the throws"? Time will tell.

While I agree, I get the feeling that if there isn't a significant gap between the two developed during Fall camp, they may test the waters during the first three games. The two of the three are considered the easiest on our schedule and all three are at home. I think Kirk and Lester both know we'll need a definitive answer by the time we travel to the big house.

ISU won't be good, but you can bet the new coach will throw the kitchen sink at us knowing we have a new QB

That was my first thought too, but then my second thought was that Lester wouldn’t have recruited him if he couldn’t make all the throws.

I'll admit I'm biased against Brown because he screwed up the play that could have/should have beaten Indiana. But in truth, I don't know anything about either him or Hecklinski that would suggest who would be the better QB. I think Hecklinski gets the nod because, from what I've read, he plays the game more like Lester did in his days, but I agree that, unless somebody sets camp on fire, the two should have an equal opportunity in the first two or three games before a "final" decision is made. Anyone who knows sports should recognize that some players don't look great in practice but they perform when the lights are on. And vice versa. Some guys look great in practice but fold up when the lights are on. Choosing a starter based only on practice doesn't make much sense, nor is it fair in a case like this where both guys come in as unknown quantities.

Even if it didn't go for a touchdown, Indiana was out of timeouts and we could have used the next play or 2 to center the ball and kick a closer, better centered FG. If he makes it, we win. If not, it goes to OT.

probably true,but would it not have made more sense for the receiver to stop inside the 1-yard line and burn more clock? Otherwise Indiana has 2 minutes left to march down& tie the score and win in overtime. I am not sure that in the heat of battle the receiver could think thta fast, though.
