Where are all the fiscal conservatives?

They want to claim Clinton would be a Republican today while still demonizing his wife, who hasn't held a role in the government for 13 years. It's hilarious.
Like just because they hung out with Epstein they think he and his wife were just as evil. They had no idea the type of person Epstein was.

No dude, just no.

He supported abortion rights, gun control, and appointed liberal judges to federal courts. He raised income taxes on top earners in 1993 and consistently defended social safety net programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid against conservative spending cuts.
This is why I consider him the best Republican in modern history.

and it seems as if there is still about 25% of the appropriation still uncommitted. I believe that funding expires after the 5 year period on sep 30th
Yep due to red tape, inflation and Trump pausing disbursements, mainly for climate-focused grants.

"You can't trust Republicans with your money," -- Howard Dean ~2004

True then; even more true now.

Bush handed Obama the bills for 2 wars, disastrous tax cuts for the rich, and an economic meltdown.

Trump handed Biden the bills for 1 war, more disastrous tax cuts for the rich, and a cratering economy, thanks to a poorly-managed pandemic.
well thank God Biden and Obama submitted balance budget requests to Congress....

Yep, Bill Clinton was the last one, and you can certainly make a case he was a centrist.
he didn't start out that way, but the Republican takeover of the house after 40 straight years of Democrat control sort of forced his hand.

You have to give Clinton credit, he was smart enough to recognize the changed environment and worked within it. Last time we had a balanced budget was under Clinton, and he had to work with a Republican controlled house and Senate to do it...have to give credit where credit is due.

We’ve had this discussion before and you don’t seem capable of navigating between billionaire taxation and Democrat tax proposals. Trump lowered my taxes. Biden proposed raising them. Harris proposed raising them. I’m nowhere near a billionaire.

BTW, Trump probably lowered your taxes too. His tax bill in his first term lowered middle class taxes by more on a % basis than taxes on high earners. And then he made these middle class taxes reductions permanent in this term.
So you make over 250k. Good for you. The first billionaire tax cuts Trump gave, my teacher paycheck was slightly less. Democrats want to get the billions stolen by wealthy tax cheats. Close the loophole. Hence, the 87,000 IRS agents Trump hated. Ted Cruz lied…they weren’t coming for the middle class. I’m beyond tired of the middle class bailing out the wealthy.

What’s your thoughts on these tariff paybacks to companies? Bezos is getting 600 million alone. Those of us who paid them?? Nothing. We. Got. Scammed.

By %, your tax cut should have been more than mine. Doubled the standard deduction and the child tax credit. Lowered rates up and down the brackets. SALT cap significantly penalized taxpayers like me as an offset to lower bracket rates.

As I’ve said, go after the billionaires if you want. But that’s not what any of the proposals have done. Income tax increases on families making $400k. SS tax increases on people making $185k. These aren’t billionaires or anywhere close to it.

I’ve even suggested adding an additional 40% tax bracket at $5/$10 million in income. Then you guys can stop bitching that the top rate was cut for the billionaires.

The tariffs were a cluster **** along with a lot of what this administration has done.

you know, I really don't understand your comments about the billions stolen by billionaire tax cheats. There is absolutely no evidence that fraud is rampant on this segment of the population. The Irs has from 75,000-90,000 employees...there are somewhere around 1000 billionaires in the US. I find it hard to believe that someone hasn't figured out that if billionaires are cheating on their taxes, you could assign a couple of audit agents to each billionaire and eliminate the cheating. I doubt if any billionaire is sitting at his computer doing his returns on turbo tax. They have certified people doing them and those people have years of jail in front of them for fraudulently preparing tax forms...

I just can't see it. I'd think you and I fudge more on our returns than any billionaire would.

There are about 80,000 IRS employees but most do administrative work. About 8,000 actually audit returns.

Tom Paris has zero evidence that billions are being stolen by billionaire tax cheats. He's just saying that because it's what he wants to believe. To be fair we can't prove otherwise.

There is one area where I agree with Tom. It was ridiculous for the Supreme court to force the government to repay tariffs because there's no practical way for them to reimburse consumers.

I don’t think billionaires are cheating. I think they are rational people who leveraged their wealth to create / exploit the tax code using perfectly legal means. Post citizens United they can directly influence legislation to advantage themselves.

The real question is: should we be ok with this? Our federal revenue is income tax heavy, but billionaires can shelter income in a myriad of ways. There are a variety of debt strategies that can yield spending money for their needs without having to sell assets for instance.

I agree with you and your statement on how billionaires take advantage of the system. But shouldn't Tom be more upset with the lawmakers who create the laws, and you can't blame it on one party. Both have had a hand in making the tax code.

idk who this new doubledutch poster is but idk if he's working w/ a full deck

It’s @Gibbs_dontbanmetom — he created it as part of some bizarre mission to follow me around. Instead, the rest of the world gets to see what an unhinged and insecure person he is and loathe him as much as all of the Iowa posters do/did. He is the reason that HROT was locked down because he attacked the site publisher (the Tom in his user name) and Tom’s wife. The guy is an actual mental midget with some OCD mixed in.

Imagine being a man in your 40s who is allegedly married with kids, and being so so mentally fragile and weak that you create a fake handle and use it for hours a day pretending to be a “gay trans” and talking incessantly about having gay sex, banging your own grandmother, and even kidnapping and molesting children. And for some reason he thinks this crazed obsession and stalking makes him look good.

That's a wee bit unhinged iyam

He’s somehow managed to be the dumbest and craziest person on multiple On3 boards. He got the Iowa board locked down for being a stalker, and then followed everyone here to continue being the worst person around.

And the stalking isn’t just limited to site publishers and me lately. He went on a rampage on HROT where he stalked Torbee’s wife’s Facebook page and made loads of comments about her, including a bunch of homophobic stuff, and then he went through state databases to see what Torbee was being paid. The guy is Secretariat when it comes to message board lunacy.

I’ll just leave this here, all you have to do is read the first comment. The dude can’t stop commenting on all my posts. He took it a step farther and created a handle to do the same thing to himself, then blames it on me so he can win over the crowd. The levels of mental health issues fascinates me, just as long as he doesn’t figure out who I am as I wouldn’t feel safe anymore with how crazy he has become.

It's rich to ask where the fiscal conservative are when DOGE was stifled at every turn. They were there, there was just no appetite for people to have their little piece of the fraud pie taken away.

increases in the defense budget alone have wiped out all the supposed cost savings from DOGE

Who would follow around another poster and make comments on every on of their posts. I do it for you because you asked me to do it. I can’t believe he doesn’t like gay and or trans people. Weird he wants to bang his grandma, although I did enjoy watching you messing around with her over the weekend. Why would anyone want to molest or even talk about molesting children.

He can keep it up all he wants — all it’s doing is making more and more people detest him as much as the Iowans do. The guy is truly crazy. If he has a wife and kids like he claims, you gotta feel sorry for them.

Man that is dumb. I hope he doesn’t get your new board shut down, I know how much you like it here. Although, I do feel like you are a different person on here than you are when you are here with me. Maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad thing, you wouldn’t have to pretend to be someone else and I would have more time with you.
