No question about it. We are a dark horse now IMO. Kohler would make our starting 5 as good as anyone in the nation(including Florida) and we would be a solid 10 deep

Not for me. I feel that last season’s failure was a dysfunctional roster and this year’s seems like a more humble, hard working group. I wouldn’t take the chance of messing that up.
Kohler fills a need and fits this team better.

Wiki says born in American Fork, Utah. Went to 4 different high schools. Utah, Nevada, back to Utah then an academy in So Cal.

So yeah looks like he spent most of his life in Utah.

Thats 100% right, and should always be the case, NIL or not. This is D1 college basketball. One of my Son's was a two time All American in college baseball. He wasn't promised a starting job and said no one else ever was either. The coaches only said "If you can hit, you won't sit". When you are the University of Kentucky basketball team, there should only be one consideration, and that is winning. If you want to play 11 players early to figure things out and save legs, fine, but when it comes to conference, I don't care if the starters play 35 minutes a night. They are 18-23 year olds who play a couple of times a week, they'll be alright

And the 2015 team rotation was shortened as the season went on. Poy injury changed things.

I never understand the small rotation argument. Plenty of great teams went like 7 players deep. Hell Calipari’s teams mainly played 7 guys most games. The UConn team that won with Kemba played like 7 guys all game. They played like 6 games in a row before the tourney too.

And you’ve also had very deep teams win titles as well like 2026 Michigan, 1998 and 1996 Kentucky. I think quality of depth matters much more than quantity of depth.

I think when you start looking at most championship rosters, you really only need one, maybe two NBA players and a bunch of quality role players. There’s only one ball. I actually combed through all the rosters at one point and you don’t even NEED a lottery pick, although having one helps.

Nope you don’t but just saying if I had a choice I’d take high end players but not many of them vs. a lot of options of players who are all about the same level of weaker starters or bench players.
