Pentagon running out of ideas in Iran

One thing that Im perplexed about......

Trump appointed the head. Im sure that person brought in a staff of know-nothings as well.
Hegseth then started a round of firing the more Snr and competent people and promoting unqualified.
Now the know-nothings are looking around for ideas.

Do the next level down of the experts not know anything (that feels like a very shallow knowledge pool)? Have the cuts gone deeper than alluded to? Or are there ideas being floated that the appointees just don't like, so the are dismissing and then the experts have eventually run out of ideas?

While the anti-DEI crew absolutely deserves all the ridicule and embarrassment and blame, I do question the folks that were lifelong experts being stumped so quickly (possibly).

Looking for out of the box ideas on how to pressure Iran.

When you start a war with no way out but to surrender the strait …

Terrible idea to ask employees for suggestions.

They don't do that in Russia or China, so why are we doing it?

This guy spoke from a military perspective. He will probably get fired.

U.S. and NATO leadership have addressed military equipment and force shortages driven by high-consumption regional conflicts and U.S. force posture shifts, with U.S. European Command head General Alexus Grynkewich warning the Pentagon over acute naval and missile interceptor constraints.

Key General Comments and Warnings
    • Naval and Interceptor Strain: Gen. Alexus Grynkewich warned the Pentagon that a shortage of Navy destroyers and depleted stockpiles of advanced missile defense interceptors (such as Patriot, THAAD, SM-3, and SM-6) mean he may soon be forced to choose between defending the U.S. homeland and protecting allies like Israel.
    • Stockpile Depletion Reality: Defense analysts and reports note that months of conflict with Iran have consumed massive portions of pre-war U.S. interceptor inventories, restricting strategic flexibility for ongoing military operations.
    • U.S. Force Reductions in Europe: The Pentagon announced broad reductions in conventional hardware and crisis-response assets made available to Europe, pushing the onus of regional defense onto NATO members.
    • NATO Reassurance: NATO leadership, including Secretary-General Mark Rutte, has downplayed the immediate operational risks of U.S. drawdowns, stating that European allies have stepped up to backfill most capability gaps under the NATO Force Model.

I always like these definitive "according to a source" blurbs...I'd bet I could find a source who would tell me "we have all the ideas we need".

Now having said that, I have an idea...Stop this on again off again war. Play to your strengths. We have shown that the Iran military is not match for ours, so stop with trying to drive Iran to a negotiating table...take a page from WWII, bomb their facilities, their routes of communication, in fact, anything that doesn't move...and get the commander in chief the hell out of the loop. He obviously doesn't have the heart for war.

It's easier to plan for wars if you don't start wars. Yes, I know, Trump hasn't met Captain Obvious.
No doubt people in France and England were saying that in 1936 -- instead of stopping a still-weak Hitler when he marched into the Rhineland.

A. So you want to double down on this mess. That’s certainly an approach.

B. I’m glad Trump doesn’t have the heart for war. I don’t want thousands of US military members and thousands of Iranian civilians dying in what will almost certainly end in a stalemate. But then, don’t stupidly start wars.

Trump is in a tough spot. he doesn't have the heart for war, but he also doesn't have the heart to say no to Bibi.

If wars are an extension of politics then shouldn’t there be a political objective tied to the creative ways to “punish“ Iran? I mean we could force them to watch endless videos of Trump speeches…that would bore most of us to death. But what aims would that achieve?

Tactically we can do whatever we want. But political strategy would suggest some of those ends are untenable (lost of US lives, war crimes, etc). So any assessment of punishments needs to be vetted through the lens of objectives those punishments achieve. And yet none of that seems to be happening.

This is yet another stupid example from a stupid admin that trapped itself in a a stupid war for which they aren’t prepared to pay the stupid cost it takes to win.

what do you see as the cost to win?

Destroying Kharg Island in a 10-minute bombing raid?

Well, maybe if they hadn't fired all the smart and experienced ones in the Pentagon...instead we get Secretary Push-ups and CiC I'm Bored With War masterminding things.
Yes, bring back the masterminds of what autopen called the extraordinary success of the Afg withdrawal.

I think it's funny that they actually think they'd know a good idea.

Trump: Private, do you have a suggestion?

Private: Well when growing up, my sister used to hate when I would sit on her head and fart, what about that?

Trump: That sounds very promising, Pete, is there something we could do with farting?

Pete: Well we could bomb them with your old diapers.

They should sign Iran up for a bunch of magazine subscriptions and spam emails - that'll really mess with them!
I did that once when I was in highschool to a guy who was trying to start some sort of weird feud with me.
I had so many AOL cds and free guides to becoming a long haul trucker type stuff sent to his house under different variations of his name that his mom freaked out on him. He actually thought it was hilarious and we ended up having a good laugh about it.

You don't think we can totally wipe out Iran any time we want if they choose to start a war? This isn't 1936. We are a continent and ocean away from Iran. It's a noble thought but different circumstances.
