I'm with you.Heard Elon Musk will have Grok do a "historically accurate" version of it in the fall, if I`m not mistaken. I think I would rather see that if it`s really a thing. I won`t see the current one - no Greek people in the movie? Some wokeness apparently too. That`s enough to keep me from going, although I guess a lot of people like it.
Helen of Troy is described by Homer in The Odyssey as being "white armed" and having "fair cheeks". Fictional, yes, but a basic physical description of the character is provided. The argument over the movie Odyssey, that it is not historically accurate is truly amusing.
Let us start with one immutable fact. The Odyssey is a work of FICTION.
The feigned outrage for the casting of the Helen of Troy character is also amusing.
Helen of Troy per Greek mythology is the daughter of Zeus. Obviously no such person ever existed.
With all the challenges and tribulations life has to offer, becoming upset over the casting of a fictional story should not be worth any consideration.
Who is making it? I always love those types if done correctly.Anyone seen "Young Washington"?

If he's not riding a velociraptor into battle I'll pass. Not yet but looking forward to. I watch any movie or documentary that I can about our founding fathers.
Does it matter if the raptor is trans? If he's not riding a velociraptor into battle I'll pass.![]()

Well geldings are sort of trans, or horse eunuchs.Does it matter if the raptor is trans?

Historical accuracy often interferes with their narrative. The historical accuracy argument being offered up by the lefties is a limp-wristed red herring.
By Nolan's own public admission, he made a woke movie that is intentionally unfaithful to the original work.
That's why folks are criticizing it. Not over any qualms about historical inaccuracy.

He did say, "historically accurate," but he probably meant "period accurate."Musk specifically said he was going to make an historically accurate version via AI. That was his term.
The "limp wristed" ones are the ones whining and crying about a damn movie.

Actually his full quote was "historically accurate and true to the art of Homer". Context is important.Musk specifically said he was going to make an historically accurate version via AI. That was his term.
This old argument again? The left does something stupid woke. When called out for it by the right (and the right) they respond with "Why do you even care? Why are you whining about this??" Y'all do this with every cultural/social issue. It just doesn't carry anymore. The "limp wristed" ones are the ones whining and crying about a damn movie.

I think Angel studios.Who is making it? I always love those types if done correctly.

historically accurate for a work of fiction is noteworthy. LOL. Plus, "true to the art of Homer" is laughable given how his poems were interpreted differently from the beginning.
The right continuing to whine like damn 2 year olds about "woke" things that upset their sensitive snowflake souls is the gift that keeps on giving.
The Odyssey is closing in on $700 million. Let's see how Elon's AI version does. LOL

I think Angel studios.
If it is them, they have done New Testament, Jesus and the Apostles. The primary events are accurate, however the criticism has been that they added traits to some (not all) characters. No theology was modified. So I like them
Its never a good look to whine and cry so much while accusing others of supposedly whining and crying.
It's quite literally their only weapon. Standard sequence of events:
-Do something stupid woke.
-The right merely points out the stupid wokeness.
-They accuse us of whining and crying.
Liberals have a single playbook and are unable to deviate from it under any circumstances.

Liberals have a single playbook and are unable to deviate from it under any circumstances. As you can see, he's called the same play from that playbook 2x in this thread alone.
It somewhat reminds me of when I saw Matt Walsh on Dr. Phil with 2 transgenders. At one point, after Matt had made a string of damning and irrefutable arguments with questions they were unable to answer, one of the transgenders finally blurted out "Why do you even care?"
you are whining and crying. LOL
and no one needs a "weapon" of any kind to disagree with you.
A filmmaker making a movie that has some artistic license is not "woke." It's called filmmaking. It's as old as film itself. Casting the Duck Dynasty crew in the film probably wouldn't have worked. But if that happened, I sure wouldn't whine and cry about it as much as you.
If you'd do a better job of adding context as if Nolan making a film and putting his spin on it was breaking some unwritten rule other than violating your sensitive sensibilities, it would help.
