We have cameras everywhere in our society now . For one I think they’re useful. If someone came and shot your family you wouldn’t want Iaw enforcement to have every tool available to help capture the people that shot your family?
Cameras have been taking pbotos of your car for a long time now. What's new is people are just now realizing it. I hate it. Same for all the new safety features on cars. Blah!!! Give me a vehicle that will let me run into a building at a hundred miles an hour amd never warn me, please. Prolly why i'll just keep my 20 y/o Ridgeline till the wheels fall off.

My daughter has gotten 2 tickets in the mail in the past week from New York and DC. She has no way to know if they’re legitimate complaints.
. On the other hand, maybe it makes her drive more safely.There should be pictures of her vehicle and license plate. Those examples are precisely why I am also okay with them. I don't like them because humans suck and abuse power and technology. There's already documented cases of officers abusing the flock cameras. But humans have been abusing our technological advances since we created spear and fire. Anything can be intended for good and in the wrong hands be used for nefarious intentions.
There are but one was supposedly making a turn on red without stopping. Did she roll through or is just a f’d up picture? The other was speeding. Is the speed camera accurately calibrated? I beat a bogus speeding ticket many years ago because the cop’s radar hadn’t been calibrated.
It’s the old argument between government control, public safety and personal freedoms. In general I hate traffic cameras but also recognize what they contribute to public safety.
Can you imagine if every car that wanted to could record traffic and uploaded to a police database? Every one of us witnesses multiple dangerous and unlawful incidents multiple times per day. The shid I see firsthand is shocking
Ya it’s not just traffic cameras it’s cameras in general all over . Do I Ike the fact a camera is watching my every movement walking down a street? Not really but if something happens to me on that street I am glad there is video evidence to help find the criminal.
The next time I’m walking down the street, there’s criminal activity, and I hope to god there’s a Flock camera watching, that will be the first time. Maybe I live in better neighborhoods than you. Maybe I’m just a badass that nobody messes with. It’s hard to tell.
The idea is deterrence and maybe then rapid response. I guarantee you that I slow down going through Sioux City now and every time I screw up at a traffic light I’m praying there’s not a traffic camera. One place I don’t mind video enforcement is in active construction zones.
I wished there was a camera when that new Escalade driving soccer mom blasted through a 4 way stop without looking up from her phone.

Every time I go through Illinois construction zones they have signs that say camera enforced speed limits. People still fly through 15-20 mph over th posted reduced speed. If they truly ticketed every single car speeding those roads would quickly get paid for. But I know I have gone over that speed limit just to stay safe with all of the nut bags flying through and I have never gotten one sent to me. So I think people quickly realized that the signs are bogus or rarely followed through on so the safety in work zones aren't that important I guess.
If you want to speed when all lanes are clear have at it but when there is a worker 3 feet off your right fender and you are going 75 in a 55... I mean come on.
I think the cameras are usually being used in a patrol car. I never assume that just because there isn’t a cop parked there that I won’t be on a camera, but clearly the signage is being used as a deterrent. I travel from Nebraska to Fort Worth fairly frequently and there’s a ton of construction in Ok and Tx. People routinely drive 10-20 over through construction zones where nobody is working. Every now and then you’ll see a very sad person pulled over. The other thing I’ve seen is a cop sitting on a side road and I would almost bet he’s got a speed camera. My guess is they’re probably only giving you a ticket if you’re exceeding the flow of traffic.
Before another Flock camera is installed, every police and ICE officer should have a body camera that can’t be shut off or disabled while they are on duty.

I did not post from a phone - never assume anything. And second, I have personally agreed to this arrangement with my phone company. I understand what it comes with when I sign up with the phone company.
I don't remember agreeing as a society, state or city to allowing Government to track every vehicle multiple times. Does that mean we must agree to it? Not sure - but it should be put in front of the public, not just assumed to be okay.
The thing is, I'm torn on the issue. I see the upside benefit, helps with crime, etc. But it's a slippery slope and those slopes often lead to government corruption and overstepping (which we are already seeing with Flock). It needs to be voted on and with parameters.
Yep. Multiple car companies have also used their computer GPS links to track car owners and recently it was disclosed they were selling that information to car insurance companies.
The government and law enforcement have been tracking you and me for years. They just happen to have a new toy that everyone can see now .

agree 100%. Sick of the growing influence of "big brother". Unfortunately, most don't care. Most will say "I've got nothing to hide", completely missing the point.
Most of us realize this is happening with, or without our blessing. So what are we aupposed to do? Stay home? Drive old cars forever? Tell us, i'm dying to know what my options are.

Many cities have done this without City Council approval. A police chief can just say "Add them" because he has the budget for the cameras. In other cities, Administrators made the sole decision by themselves.
That right there is a key problem that should bother everyone.

I mean, I believe Nebraska is screwed, if only because of our incredibly conservative state. But states with a more neutral court system and supreme court could definitely challenge the legality and infringement of our basic rights.
