Family found dead in Grand Haven Township, Michigan- Emergency crews responded to reports of smoke on the morning of July 24. When they finally entered the home around 11:40am, all eight family members were found dead. Some of the victims had gunshot wounds. Amanda and Kristopher Karolkiewicz were identified by a family member. The six children are ages 5-15. Investigators do not believe there is an ongoing risk to the public, and that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.

Just days before their murder, Mandy Karolkiewicz took two of her adoptive daughters on a trip to China, visiting places like Shanghai Disneyland Park and Hangzhou. Meanwhile, her husband, Kristopher, presumably stayed back in the States with their other four children. It appears Mandy and the girls returned home around July 18th. Just days later, on July 24th… the family of eight was found dead. Several of them had gunshot wounds.

Karolkiewicz recently served as a VP of Customer Strategy for the National Research Corp and prior Held corporate positions in healthcare and pharmaceutical.

Wonder if he got fired while the mom and kids were gone, or maybe just before they left - and the reason why came out once the mom/kids returned. Something like that. The "now it's out in the open" trigger (no pun intended) as to why the dad did this.

They probably came home coughing and he wanted to save the world from COVID-26.

My guess is the two blurred are the only two in the pic still alive, hence the reason for blurring.
Yes, but usually they blur children’s faces, dead or alive. The fact that they blurred the survivors’ faces tells me they were cognizant of abiding by some measure of privacy standards but decided anyway not to protect the children’s privacy.

Holy Crap, I spent the weekend in Grand Haven (24-26th) and didn't hear anything about it.

Maybe he was mad being stuck watching kids and decided enough was enough.

I would not be surprised if the media outlet that used the photo received permission from the surviving family. Often, the family WANTS the victims to be known and mourned. Other times they prefer strict privacy. A good publisher/editor respect their wishes.

This is how comments be looking from someone in a lib cult that found his only friends on a message board.
McGibbles has made 1,140 posts since June 1 while also having the self-awareness to trash talk people who only have friends on a message board. For comparison, I have 5,735 since 2009.

I had the same thought, but let’s be real. The probability it was Dad is extremely high in these cases.
Correct. The overwhelming majority of family annihilators are heterosexual suburban white men in their late 30s who kill their families with a gun after the wife expresses that she is going to leave the relationship. They also tend to have a history of intimate partner violence. There are 4-5 family annihilations per week in the U.S.

Michigan officials say Kristopher Karolkiewicz shot and killed his wife, Amanda Karolkiewicz, and their six children, ages 5 to 15, before setting multiple fires inside their Grand Haven home and killing himself.

now it sounds like the husband had an affair with an intern....

Just two years ago, Mandy Karolkiewicz wrote on Reddit under the username MandyK1179, that she was “living in a Hallmark Movie” — but other posts offered a darker glimpse into her married life and husband’s alleged infidelity, the Detroit News reported.

In one 2024 post seen by the outlet, she described how she first met her older husband while she was working as an intern.

“He was divorced and older than me … fast forward ten years and five kids, he was cheating with the intern again — the same age I was when I was the intern,” Karolkiewicz wrote.

“After about a year of self-loathing, I remember crying and looking at myself in the mirror and realizing how… it was that I was the one who was living so miserably because of what he did,” she said.

“I finally realized that I had been the only person who has ever showed up for myself my whole entire life.”
