I’m a Sophie fan. Actually watched the Fever beat the Shizizzle outtta Aja and the Aces last week. She was deadly from 3 and I enjoyed the game.
Exactly. For better or worse, Trump showed the way to not be cancelled. Stop giving a shlt.
She's not getting cancelled. But it'll be one of those deals that gets way more attention than it should by pundits and cable tv networks bc some bots and idiots got big mad online.
Is the WNBA even really a sporting league? The only stories you ever hear about the WNBA is political bullschitt. Black vs white, gay vs straight, trans vs normal. It’s just one big political and cultural explosion disguised as a sporting league.
They just banned her being able to monetize her finger point. Wnba is just plain silly.
Not if they’re smart they’re not. But most would never say it out loud. I thought Sophie did a good job with her statement. I didn’t like her when she played for Missouri & I cared about women’s basketball. But damn if I don’t love her now.
You can't put that many women together and it not be a problem.

It's really fascinating that we went through a period where saying and believing in scientifically true things--you can't change your biological sex, men can't get pregnant--got one cancelled or at least condemned as immoral. Even on this issue, the truth that males who go through male puberty generally have a significant physical advantage over women in most sports, got one labelled an awful bigot. What a bizarre, hysterical, idiotic period in American history.
We can't cancel her, but we don't matter. It matters whether dozens of WNBA fans will be offended enough to stop watching. You get that large of a percentage of the fan base not wanting to watch her, and they won't have a choice.
It's so bizarre to me, how seemingly obsessed with trans folks some people are. It almost makes me wonder if they are going through some things themselves.
What will happen is what you're already seeing with Clark, and it will be convenient that Cunningham is on the same team. More eyeballs, more popularity for that team from people who weren't previously fans, and then more jealousy and political maneuvering from the other teams/players and ultimately the league.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
I think this is probably right although I'm not sure it will drive eyeballs to the actual game as opposed to commentary and online **** posting about the league. My post was more about the dozens of fans dig than a prediction.
Based on polling, 70-80% of people in the US agree with her. It's the minority of people that scream about these ridiculous issues.
It's really not. People care about fairness. It's one of the most blatantly unfair and absurd things we have going on now and it's easily fixable. Plenty of problems we face are more significant, but hard to solve. Or are possibly not solvable, it's just a question of which tradeoffs we will make. This one is pretty easy and except for weird tribalism associated with politics, would already be solved. Claim whatever you want about gender and call yourself whatever gender you want to be. But separate men's and women's sports have always been about sex. Nothing about that is inconsistent with or incompatible with showing compassion to people with mental health issues.
These things always follow this cycle:
1. It never happens
2. It's so infrequent that it shouldn't matter
3. Yeah it happens, but you not liking it makes you a bigot/racist/sexist/xenophobe/etc
4. It's totally normal and here's why it's good for you
Right now on this issue, we're somewhere between steps two and three.

Such a small group yet the left and Dems expend so much cultural capital demanding others believe a woman is anyone who says they're a woman regardless of gametes, chromosomes, sex organs and thus must be treated exactly as a biological woman with access to girls bathrooms, women's shelters and prisons, etc. It really is bizarre how obsessed some people are with trans folks that they demand others bend to their will and reject reality. It's such a small group so it really shouldn't be a problem telling boys who think they're girls to play on the boys team.

Cunningham is correct. Women should be able to play in sports leagues against only women. The 0.005% of people or whatever the number is that this negatively impacts just have to get over it. When do we get to stop making this a significant feature of political discourse and move on to the next nonsense topic to distract us from debt, war, inflation, taxes, insurance, employment opportunities and the other things that actually impact 99% of us.
The WNBA could dissolve tomorrow and I would not even know it but this gal has "it" and I enjoy seeing her .
Uh maybe when presidential candidates stop advocating for free sex change operations for prisoners, an entire party votes against banning men in women's sports , SCOTUS nominees can't answer the question "what is a woman". And for the record it potentially effects every female child (and their families) in this country that wants to participate in GIRL'S sports .
They must be secretly trans right? I mean you’ve said this same statement everytime this type thread comes up. You must be really concerned about their well being.
