I’m not the biggest Clark fan, but openly rooting against someone on the course from the fans is getting out of control in golf. Just classless for the sport.

It's the same 24-year-old new-to-the-sport losers that cheer and root for BDC, whose on and off-course douchebaggery dwarfs anything Wyndham Clark has ever done.

If Augusta can enforce it, the USGA and Ryder Cup can, too. They just have to decide to make it a priority.

I will never understand anyone paying money for a ticket just to go and heckle the athletes you paid to watch. There are few things in society that could possibly make you more of a loser than that, in my opinion.

Clark rubs me the wrong way, but I can't imagine cheering against someone openly in a golf tournament. Except maybe Patrick Reed...I'd cheer if he missed a putt.

SIAP but there's a video on X of someone yelling "get in the bunker!" right after Rory tees off. He keeps yelling it and then yells that he hopes Rory stays in the bunker all day, etc. Rory is standing right there.

Hopefully those tournaments that you mention make it a priority to address that nonsense.

Eamon went nuclear on it and said the PGA should not go back to Bethpage in 2033. It will never happen, but I agree with him. So far, this is largely a problem exclusively for the northeast, but it will quickly spread elsewhere.

Now for the real golf news of the day: The PGAT officially announced what the Tour will look like in 2028. I'm bullish about all of it. Will be interesting to see how they incorporate Match Play into the playoffs.

I think the Tour was in a unique position to incorporate relegation into their format, and they took advantage of that. It's something other major U.S. sports would love to incorporate into their structure, but they'd never get the Owners to approve it. The Tour didn't have the same hurdles, and they smartly took advantage. The bigger the money gets in professional sports, the more critical it is to have true meritocracy whenever possible.

Love that there will be no sponsor exemptions. Everyone has to earn it.

Man, Phil is a complete POS
I played golf with a guy who happen to know someone very close to Phil right when Phil and LIV got in bed. I was not surprised by that marriage. I’m also a lefty just a couple of years younger than Phil, so naturally when he came on the scene I was a huge fan for his career. He’s ruined that.

Is it possible to stand in a worse spot?

People have way too much faith in other golfers on the course. Unless I know you are an absolute stick I will not be anywhere in front of your ball when you are swinging the club. Have had some near misses that made me change my ways.

Doing some garage cleanup and found a World Open cap that I am guessing is 1976 or so. It has some unreal autographs, Palmer, Nicklaus. Trevino, Nelson, Patti Berg, Ray Floyd, Gene Sarazen, Hale Irwin, Lanny Watksin, and plenty more, some hard to read, It is in OK shape, the hat's integrity in shape, just dusty, not bad at all. Question: Just from googling, it appears to have some value, probably at least $1,000. Has three grand slam winners, for instance, and Berg won the most lady majors. I am interested in a turn-key job, getting it to an auction house that could actually clean it up, verify signatures, etc., and then sell and I get a percentage. Is that something available and if so, any recommendations?

Should we start to worry about @egr2teup? He hasn't posted on IC since 6/24. I know this place is no longer the same, but he was always diligent about updating the thread title for each tournament.

I'm no expert on these things, but I'd be shocked if it's worth more than $100. There's a difference in what you see listed and what the actual sales price is on these types of things.

Before going through the trouble (and fees) of an auction, I'd just put it on eBay with a reserve and see what kind of action you get. If you get hardly anything (which is what I would expect), that should tell you something.

Are you a member of The Society of Golf Historians Facebook group? Post this exact question on there, without mentioning the $1,000 price, and see what kind of feedback you get. There are some real golf sickos from all over the world in that group, and they would be able to give you a more accurate picture of what it's worth than we can on here.

good ol' Mrs. Doubtfire
I hated Monty for eons because...well, he was Monty and was such a prick

NBC started giving him an hour or so a day as a color guy for Ryder Cup coverage when played in Europe....and he was fantastic each time. It STILL pains me to say that but the guy is terrific in the booth. To the point where I was saying "just give Monty Johnny's seat please!" back when Johnny was still in the booth

Fun waking up at 5am to live golf!

On a side note booking a round this weekend was rough, I think around 60% of courses have aerated in the past 7 days. Tough sledding out there.

Regarding the Scottie / Bryson / Hatton pairing....saw a funny bit that said (paraphrasing):

When Bryson hits a bad shot, he blames his equipment
When Scottie hits a bad shot, he blames his caddie
When Hatton hits a bad shot, he explodes into a profane diatribe blaming a grand conspiracy of the golfing gods, tour executives, other players, mother nature, himself, and the good Lord above

I laughed. I'm one of those people that love watching Hatton play. Yes, he curses like a sailor but some of his quips are downright hilarious. The old one asking the caddie if he ever saw a worse shot and when the caddie was silent Hatton presses with "I'm serious...answer the question....have you ever saw a worse shot" still cracks me up every time I see it.

Great finish by Fox when it mattered most today.

I have to say though, what an all out gross majors season. The last 3 won by Rai, Windham, and Fox and 2 of those weren’t even interesting on the back 9 on Sunday. Woof…
