After making it through maybe half of Trump’s incoherent, meandering, imbecilic musings…

I didn’t watch it because I can’t listen to his incoherent speeches in the little bit of free time I have right now.

Only read this WSJ article about it and it seems like a big nothing burger. Maybe there’s something buried in the intel that was declassified, but by now if it was important it would have already been covered by WSJ and NYT.

Seems like Trump just wanted some attention or to feel presidential. I’m surprised that ABC and NBC didn’t air it though, as I thought there were regulations about the main broadcasts being required to air important presidential addresses. While I don’t think it was a legit use of this power by Trump, I also don’t feel great about NBC and ABC overruling this. Not sure if the regulations have changed though.
There is no regulation that requires them to air presidential addresses but when they don't, it's usually because they were considered overtly political and partisan and they don't want to give up a primetime slot, especially on Thursday night and for factually unverified political slop. In 2022 the networks declined to air Biden's address and in 2014 they declined one of Obama's addresses due to the partisan nature of their planned speeches.

Your article is behind a paywall fyi.

I just want to make sure I've got this correct. You consume politics ad nauseum yet instead of watching the informstion and formulating your own opinion you embrace ignoring it and stand on the ground its the other guy's living in a false reality..........

Did you plug your ears and hold your breath while you were at it?
Everyone has "watched" and "heard" the information already for 6 years. It's all been debated, debunked, and rehashed for a 6 whole years. Why give anymore credence or "ears" to something thats already been thoroughly proven false and is the obsession of one person who unfortunately was voted to be the leader of the free world?

It's not sticking heads in the sand, it's simply choosing sanity and ignoring lunacy.

I am from Missouri son, enough of the telling us stupid sh't that didn't happen 6 years ago. Show us something. He is POTUS, he has the resources to prove something happened. Data, pictures, physical evidence, digital forensics, etc.

Instead, we get to rehash the hits and wait somewhere between 2 weeks and 6 years to see ANY proof. Sad. Honestly, remarkably, sad.

The collective (and I mean NATIONALLY) shrug of shoulders, eye rolling and smirks that are the main response to the BLOCKBUSTER NEW INFO has to be f.ucking KILLING HIM.

And I love it.

Trump is f.ucking WASHED.
It finally is happening. People are over him and he is going to freefall. FWIW we have 3 houses in my hood with Trump flags / signs last 5 years or so. Over the last 4 months they have all come down. Rarely do I see vehicles with his crap. It’s becoming very embarrassing to be a MAGA. Going to be millions and millions of Trump voters in the 2030s saying they never voted for him.

Truly an incredible moment. And his cabinet sat there and applauded him and they all knew he was lying.
His cabinet now has their marching orders to criminalize states that won't go along with his election delusions. Trump has done more to damage trust in our elections than any foreign country could ever hope for so I'm sure they're happy to let him do their dirty work for them.

BREAKING: DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin just threatened federal investigations into voters and state election officials with “fines, by penalties, and even prison time” if states don’t participate in the OPTIONAL federal SAVE program.

This clearly clashes with the U.S. Constitution.

Article I, Section 4 gives states primary authority over the “Times, Places and Manner” of congressional elections. Congress can pass laws to set or override rules, but threatening criminal penalties on state officials for not using a voluntary federal tool exceeds that authority and undermines federalism.

States run elections, not the President!

Im not sure if you are aware of this or not, but DJT lies and exaggerates all the time. Why give him more attention than is needed? Why not just look at the substance of the claims. A true argument transcends who is making it. It appears to everyone, no real argument or proof was provided to which we all needed to pay careful attention to his slurring of words in support.

I was browsing Reddit last night and there was a thread on the cesspool r/conservatives that was groaning over the speech.

For the one billionth time, ONLY the Dead Ender 30% Club - which consists soley of the chronically mentally ill or profoundly stupid like TigerGrowls, JohnHughes, WDDT and their ilk - remain.

At least 70% of Americans are now fully cognizant that Trump is a combination of malignancy, b.ullshit and criminality.

notice that none of them are able to refute what you wrote. They are deflecting with every other possible response. “Rent free!” “You are a narcissist!” “Didn’t read!”

deep down they know. They have just invested too much on this clown show already and are going to go down with the ship.
Says the guy who claimed Biden was “killing it”.

personally, I don't know why anyone would subject themselves to a Trump speech. If, he reads off the teleprompter, maybe it's tolerable, but otherwise the meandering, repitition, and ad libs are just too much. Besides, dpic already told us yesterday that the speech would be BS (paraphrasing), and the media will give a complete "who shot John" depending on the biases - MS Now, speech was terrible, full of lies etc: Fox news, speech was great, insightful, full of new facts, someone should go to jail etc.
I understand your point, Ned, but sometimes, citizenship obligates one to go beyond the platitudes and conclusory statements that politicians routinely spew out and inform oneself as to whether such conclusory statements are supported by actual fact. Fact checking certainly did not originate with Trump. He merely made fact checking more obligtory.

I suppose better late than never, but all of that wasn’t clear in 2024?
