Ha, that has to be an awful way to get eliminated. Your world class GK Thibaut Courtois comes off injured then the back keeper gives up the game winning goal from an easy shot

The US dominates those sports because very few countries play those sports
Very few?🤣. Ok. No, not as many as soccer but if you are gonna deny that what sports our athletes choose to play is a huge factor you are just delusional.

Been listening to excuses from US soccer guys my whole life. With the resources and poulation the US has these results every WC are just pathetic. I guess we'll just have to wait for 30 for all this amazing talent to finally do something

Are you saying that all those sports you mentioned are popular outside of a handful of countries?

Do you think only "a handful" of countries participate in swimming, track and gymnastics? US does pretty good in those so not really getting the competition excuse. You could triple the field in basketball, baseball and hockey and I'd bet all my money the US could do better than the round of 16

You didn't mention any of those sports in your original post

It doesn't matter how many teams you invite. We invented those sports. The game originated here therefore it is taking a long time to catch on in other areas.

Also, for as much complaining as we are doing, the US is a top 15 team out of over 200 FIFA nations. We certainly don't suck... we just aren't elite.

Good lord, with the iffy VAR calls that have taken goals off the board throughout this tournament, how in the hell do they not spot a ball hitting the damn cable over the field that directly results in a goal?

Soccer fans: Our rules are sacred. Stop crying about the yellow and red card rules!!

Meanwhile soccer rules: "So you see, essentially in American football terms, if a defensive back gets two pass interference penalties in a game, that gets upgraded to what amounts to a major unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, and not only does he get ejected but he has to miss the next game as well, and if you disagree with that, F*** You because history says so. 😃"

Me?

I'm not a rules purist. I think the clock is beyond archaic. It would be so easy to stop it when the ref says, just like in high school.

I think the red card rule is the most harsh rule in sports and it doesn't make sense. You can get two yellows like that guy got and still be suspended while having your team play short... or you can essentially murder someone and get the same punishment. I don't get why that hasn't been looked at.

I still dont think pass interference is a good reference. It is the same as a personal foul... and just like football it is two and you are done. Or two technicals in basketball.

wow he nutmeged the goalie!

I know what I'm about to say sounds dumb but that is pretty common. It is kind of similar to why hockey goalies get "5 holed". As that ball is moving you are constantly on your toes and forwards are taught that the hardest place for a keeper to save anything is down at their feet. Their first thought is always hands AND they don't want to spill the ball.

Keeper is trying to get down to make his leg bigger and was just late in dropping.
