Unless you are worth 10 billion you cannot fight the DOJ. They have way too much money. That's the reason for the 96% conviction rate. It would be easier and cheaper not to take bribes. Now we need to get rid of these foundations' politicians set up that can take legal bribes.

What stinks, is that in the plea deal, they may get a "cushy" sentence........the amount of damage that Lumumba did to the city of Jackson with his antics, such as the bribes, deserves the harshest of sentences, even as part of a plea deal.

One can only hope that the judge rejects some of the details of the plea arrangement and provides a proper sentence

All they cared about was $$$$...tax payer money, grant money, federal money, covid money, block grants, hwy money. As long as the money flows into Jackson, they can say, hey we brought in XXX $millions. Safe roads, streets and neighborhoods did not matter to this bunch. As long as the money flowed, crime didn't matter. Hopefully this is goodbye and good riddance.

I lived in NEJ for 12 years....Lumumba and Lumumba Jr were terrible...everything from safety to city services got progressively worse....somewhere, Frank Melton is smiling today.
Melton turned into a lunatic. Still best mayor Jackson had had since Ditto. Maybe since Danks.

It’s the same playbook in all these socialist run cities. LA, NYC, Minneapolis etc etc. They care nothing about running a city, which is all that’s really needed. Folks who want to manage a city.

They’re just part of a crooked enterprise that wants to play politics to steer as much treasure as possible into their and their crooked friend’s pockets. It’s pathetic and it’s absolutely destroying a bunch of cities.

Every county in the delta is run this way too. Life has gotten worse and worse for everyone there yet the same people keep getting elected. 30 years of the same congressman and the whole region is dying.

I really don’t think Frank turned lunatic. You can disagree with his tactics but I think Frank made a sane assessment: The biggest issue in Jackson is security and the criminals aren't scared. He decided to take it to them using their own tactics to “take the city back” if you will which would lead to more safety and then business investment. It was brash, some of it was borderline illegal but that’s also how Gulianni targeted the mob.

Now it seems we’ve given up on several areas of Jackson. Just let the bad guys run it. But theyre trying to carve out a business zone via capital police. Thats more or less the strategy of several large cities like Philly (Center City, Old City), Chicago (downtown Mag Mile), NYC (most of Manhattan), etc…

Mamdani is currently giving a masterclass in how to run a city. We'll see if that matters to the narrative though.

About 5 years ago I had some tools stolen from my truck in a very very small town in the delta. Called the police station several times no answer so I went to the station. I walked in and walked around for a couple minutes and couldn't find anyone. I mean I could have walked in there and taken computers files just about anything I wanted. This was on a weekday morning about 10.

INTO THE GROUND!

fixed
Is he running the city into the ground?
Or is he implementing some concepts you dislike, but NYC residents support overall?

And if his ideas aren't successful, does that mean they were 'wrong'?...or could it instead mean they weren't feasible given the inherent limitations of applying to just one city that is also under rule of a state and country?

I don't know if he I running the city I to the ground or not.
I have not looked at any metrics, if any are even available.

its funny how the usual lib members on this board aren't anywhere around to dispute this. they have no answer for it.
The state of Mississippi oversees the Delta.
If Republicans that run the executive and legislative branches want to 'fix' the Delta, then they could...and should.

The Governor represents the Delta's residents.
The US Senators represent the Delta's residents.
The State legislators write and enact law to improve the state overall, which includes the Delta's residents.

That place has been undeveloped and financially stressed for generations. Any number of right leaning folk could have worked to change that over the decades.

It's almost like...it isn't as simple as you claim.

Probably get him to teach a prison class in City Management for prisoners working towards their college degree.
Weren't you the poster who said they were dead to rights on some felony charges and managed to wiggle out due to paying a lawyer with connections?

If so...
- you damn well better never complain about lawyers.
- making light of others being guilty and serving time is a wild approach to life.

Once again I submit the suggestion that goofygolfer is a bot run by DawgStudent to generate clicks. There is no way a real person can pick the contrary opinion of every 17ing topic ever posted on here.
what are you sad about? You made two sad reactions to a couple of oat mine. Like, really… What are you sad about?

In one post, I ask if being run into the ground. I straight up say I don’t really follow the metrics of that city so I don’t know.

What can you be sad about in that post?

I point out that someone who admittedly said they were behind the eight ball on some pretty serious charges once again, quite flipping with their comments about others going to jail.

I have no idea why you would react with sadness to that observation.

If you have metrics showing is being run into the ground, post them up so that I can read about it. It is certainly concerning if the countries largest city is being run into the ground.

And guess who has ran the Delta for decades…. Bennie. Yet you blame everyone else. They keep electing the same inept leadership and you get the same results.
