On EVERY goal in the World Cup, VAR checks for offsides, for fouls that may have been missed that would have negated the goal, etc. So it was reviewed, just not in a obvious manner.

Okay, thank you for the clarification. On the Brazil goal it looked to me he was onsides by a few inches.

The German miss in the 6th rd of PKs was brutal. Sailed it over the cross bar by 10 yards. This after they climbed back from the dead being down 2 earlier in the PK round.

Is there a reason why the announcer for the Jordan-Argentina match refers to every match as a World Cup Final?

The whole tournament is called the World Cup Finals as opposed to the Qualifiers. That’s always been the terminology.

But, yeah, the final game is the singular final.

Apparently Fox Sports didn’t get the memo about official World Cup nomenclature.
