USA has a goal waved off due to offsides (correct call, IMHO), and then Turkey quickly comes down and scores a goal to take the lead, 2-1. smh

Backs struggling as defense. Robinson too often late to challenge and mark. Is there anyone on the bench without a yellow card who can replace him? I thought the analysts made some good points about putting Weah on the right side, Reyna not playing well, and too many wrong passes by US into crowded middle. Spacing for U.S. seemed bad after 1st ten minutes.

They should have just played a man short. Trusty couldn’t move and it was his man who easily got to the ball for the goal.

Without him they would have pulled someone else back and you wouldn’t have been counting on him for even limited help.

oh well, we win the group and have a good path to the quarters. We wipe Turkey out with a full squad

On the final goal , #22 looked to be offsides on the pass that went across to #26. Then #22 scored the goal on the rebound from #26’s shot. Is the offsides on #22 wiped out once the ball hits a US player?

I thought back in the day that #22 was still considered offsides in that situation.

#22 was offside at the time of the pass to #26. He then re-established being onside. Then #26 took his shot, which #22 knocked in after the rebound. As he was onside at the time #26 took his shot, #22 was fine.

Thanks for the helpful explanation, Tom. I didn't see much in the way of arguing from the US team, so I figured #22 must have been in a legal position at the time of the goal.
