Caitlin Clark got throat-punched last night

While I don't think it was a punch, Caitlin was fouled repeatedly on that play when there was no foul called, and Thomas should have been T'd up for the step over. Christ, Dejean got fined for that by the NFL last season. Shortly after that in the game, not only did they fail to call a reckless close out on the 3 point attempt when Caitlin injured her back, they reviewed the play to see if CAITLIN should have had an intentional foul called on her when her shooting hand made contact with the face of the reckless closing out defender during her shooting motion. The league is an absolute clown show. As soon as Caitlin's done with it, I'm done with it, as she is the only reason it is entertaining.

Combine race, lesbian, and competitive women together and you got the makings of serious issues.

I never watched a second of the wnba before Clark. I assumed the product was better than it really is. Missed layups, uncoordinated shots, inability to catch a pass and poor officiating.

why the league seems to go out of the way to shun their only player people will tune in to watch is baffling.

somebody in the league office should pen a tell all book. My guess is the league first is about race and lesbian causes and the actually product is in the back row of a 3 row SUV.

I am amazed how physical girl's/women's basketball is nowadays. It's tackle basketball. Heck, I get to see roughly 10 HS GBB games (biggest school class in Iowa) every winter and they kick the crap out of each other.

It's pretty obvious the defensive "book" on Clark is to beat the snot out of her because the league allows most of it, mainly because of spotty refereeing.

The refs really let stuff get out of hand on Monday and it spilled over to Wednesday. I don't expect them to make any improvements at this point.
I love that in every fever game thread Clark will foul and someone without fail will say “I can’t wait until Clark is done so I never have to watch this again”

Bud, you don’t have to watch it now.

I have tried to give it a shot. It’s just not entertaining to me.

To be fair, I don't watch a ton of basketball or sports in general other than college football.

When I DO manage to see a NFL game, I'm always amazed at how much faster and more polished the game is compared to college ball. The difference between mens college basketball and the NBA is even greater. Those dudes in the NBA are crazy athletic... Every person on the foor looks superhuman to me.

Not so much with women's basketball. I've watched a couple of games over the years, mostly just hoping the USCjr's women's team would lose. I don't see a whole lot of difference between the college and pro games there.

Sign me up for the Bill Burr opinion of the WNBA:

And I get that. I will also state that I watch only a couple Indiana games a season, but I do follow Clark's career because she's arguably the Nile Kinnick of Iowa women's sports.

I watch the Iowa girls more. But not every game. And as stated prior, because of my job I get to watch some girls HS BB.

But I also, for example, didn't watch one second of the NBA this year, and haven't for years now. I'll watch the Hawks more obviously, but given how unwatchable the late Fran years were...at least they're finally back to me wanting to watch them again.

All I ask for my sports TV time is at the very least, entertain me...and my favorite team winning certainly helps.

CFB and the NFL are the only sports I'm now at 64 devoted to. As sports, combined with the entertainment factor...that's what my sports TV time is mostly devoted to.

As with tastes in women, booze, food, vehicles, etc...every "personal taste" is different.

Dan Patrick said he tried to get multiple people from WNBA on his show today or at least make an official comment. He couldn’t.

it’s obvious the league wasn’t built from the ground up. It was a gift from the nba. So the people in the front office are like a bloated government run program.

But everyone that says that can just YouTube Clark highlights after the game

My dad sends me some of the weirdest Clark highlights from YouTube. People that suffered massive strikes can find the absolute worst shid on YouTube.

Is the punch in the room with us? Dirty as hell, no punch.

Also, WNBA is a garbage product that struck gold and turned into into aluminum. I watched the Dream game last night and Reese just chucks the ball at the hoop. Zero finesse or skill. She was like 1-9. We were all laughing every time she shot the ball.

I feel like almost every post in this thread could have been made 12 months ago. Guess some things (the WNBA) never change.

The punch itself was not a foul btw

This is more the problem than the whole angry lesbian angle IMHO. Incompetence at the highest levels. They need a David Stern.
