The big story will be Scheffler going for the career Grand Slam.

Scheffler will be the favorite rightfully so but I think fleetwood or schauffle may take this one.

Dark horse pick is Patrick Reed, guy is playing some good golf on the DP tour and leading the points.

Nobody is dominant this year. On a tough course like this I could see another middle of the pack guy winning like the pga

Putting will be a real issue on this course so a good putter like Sam Burns could win. Also if JJ Spaun goes back to his LAB df3 putter that he used to win the open last year, he could repeat. Not sure why he ever switched putters. Scottie and Rory have been putting like doo doo so I’m leaving them out.

Absolutely brutal course. I’ll never forget the year Goosen putted out of his mind and won when balls wouldn’t even stop on the greens it was so firm. Almost 7,500 yards par 70 is a monster layout. They hit it so far today that it won’t matter as much but it’s still a long lay out. Someone who keeps it in the fairway will win. Anyone driving it off the fairway will be dead in that fescue.

I would say McIlroy will be a favorite with how he drives the ball. Depends on his putter. Koepka was rounding into form but he had to WD in contention at that Canadian so no telling if he is healthy enough to win. I could see Tommy Fleetwood finally winning his first major here. If DeChambeau keeps it on the course he can win. He’s putting a new Taylor Made Prototype driver in player this week so no telling how he will hit that. Obviously Scheffler will be right there, but he has looked mortal the last couple months for once.

Ludwig Aberg is my dark horse pick. Russel Henley could be right there as well too if he putts well. He drives it’s great and plays well at tough tournaments.

The course has very generous wide fairways, but the greens are very sloped and tough. This means you need to bet players with exceptional short games.

I‘m pushing the without Scottie/Rory/Rahm button, so these 3 will not factor in my wagers.

MacIntyre
M. Fitzpatrick
Reed
Griffin
Koivun
Rai
Puig
Aberg
Gotterup
Berger
Poston
Fleetwood

Spaun made everything last year. He is very consistent so it’s a good layout for him too.

this course is already set up tough. its going to get extremely soggy if they get the same weather we had in Cincinnati/Kentucky overnight during the day today(also it should stay windy there all weekend). Depending on that and the weather the rest of the way, we could end up seeing a tournament won by someone who is even par or worse

Im gonna go with Matt Fitzpatrick if the conditions this weekend are sketchy. I also like Cameron Young or Schauffele.

The rain will help scoring. If it was dry and fast that’s when this course becomes impossible. It will play longer but the better the greens hold, the better they will score.

Two great picks. Fitz won a U.S. Open already and Schauffele is going for the third leg of the grand salami.

Drive the ball 347 yards you should be hitting third, right? Nope. 1st
Drive the ball 370 yards you should be hitting third, right? Nope. 2nd.

Not when the amateur gets up there and stripes one 384 yards. Howell can absolutely smoke the ball(182.8).

Riding with Jack Schoenberger. GBB
Fellow Wildcat JB Holmes is currently -1 after a few early birdies. Don’t think he has a chance to win but I like seeing him back on the course after some pretty bad injury issues the last half decade.

Edit: Just doubled 7, so back to +1.

Anyone see the putt earlier that rolled to within 18 inches of the cup, then rolled back about 4 feet? Lol. Crazy stuff

That course is ridiculously hard with firm greens. It’s wet right now as well. If it dries out over the weekend watch out.

Good to see Dustin Johnson back out here. I hope all the LIV stars get back soon so the Tour is complete again.
He imploded quickly, contention to +3 in a heartbeat. US Open’s are crazy. Those bunker shots are nasty.

I played Keenes Trace last week. First time I ever played there. The greens were like ice skating rinks, hard and fast. How anyone shot 23 under there (last winning score from 2023 Barbasol tournament) is beyond me and makes me realize how incredibly good these guys are. Shooting between even and six under tells me this course is a monster. The hole that has an elevated green and everyone hits it, but the ball runs over the back side cracks me up.

That 4 footer Clark missed on 18 May prove bigger that anybody thinks. Not only did it cost a stroke but it will follow him into the overnight zone and kill the good feeling of his big lead a little. He’s also been scrambling out of his mind and the gold gods never let that go for too long until it starts feeling like nothing will go right again any minute.

So that 6 stroke lead is nice but still shaky. Will depend on his start today, see if the putter looks calm

That putt Brennan missed a few minutes ago was hellacious. Not sure the initial distance, but had to have been about a downhill 50-footer. Ran it completely passed the hole, off the green, and down in to a bunker. Absolutely brutal. I tried to find a video on X, but nobody has posted it yet.
