Always interesting to see how the course has been prepared.

Please use this thread for any pre-tournament, in-tournament, and post-tournament discussion of the 2026 US Open at Shinnecock Hills.

Shinnecock Hills tends to play tough. But I see it apparently had some rain this morning, so being softer the pros might score better.

I like Shinnecock, but don't necessarily think they should be hosting the US Open every 8 years. No golf course should host twice in a 10 year span imo. Too many other good choices.

6 courses make up the current main rotation - Pebble, Winged Foot, Oakmont, Pinehurst, Shinnecock, and Oakland Hills.

It's just me, but I've never thought of Pebble as a major site (same w/ Torrey Pines). I think the usga needs to dig a little deeper (and fix the drivers and the balls).

6 courses you listed Winged Foot twice and left Shinnecock out.

There’s a lot of storylines from day 1: The wind, Dustin Johnson, Wyndham Clark, Cowan, etc. But what Keith Mitchell pulled off is mind blowing.

Interesting the Niemann picked up a 2 stroke penalty for throwing a club. I like it.

There wasn't a rule in place last year to cover those things...but now there is (or at least they are actually enforcing it, as they have told players they would). Are you really implying that there shouldn't be a penalty for throwing a club 50 yards? I commend them for finally doing something about such ridiculous behavior...why would anyone object to it?

What Rory did last year was egregious and far worse and should have been a penalty. But no it’s Rory. Just be fair is all I’m saying. Heck tigers club hit spectators. But that is a while ago.

Did you actually see what Niemann did to come to your determination that Rory's actions were more egregious? And are you considering that it's become a point of emphasis over the past year (ie Garcia getting the first warning that anyone ever remembers at the Masters)?

Cmon now. Rory should have been penalized plain and simple. Heck someone was penalized 2 strokes at pga for 50 seconds late to the tee. They should have come down on him last year and at the precedent that not even the media favorite Rory will be penalized for a major tantrum.

What does someone being late to their tee time have to do with clamping down on player conduct (as they said that they would)? It was getting out of hand, and I applaud them for doing something about it. The "whataboutism" kills me...dude did something that deserved a penalty, and got penalized.

Neimann wasn’t the only one yesterday that threw a club and yet he is the only one that got penalized. So again they were selective. Wonder if Liv had anything to do with it.
Also this rule was passed in 2019. So there were selective.

Rule 1.2b, which was part of a host of rule changes enacted in 2019, states that a tournament “may set its own standards of player conduct in a Code of Conduct adopted as a Local Rule,” and that “the Code may include penalties for breach of its standards, such as a one-stroke penalty or the general penalty.”

Furthermore, the rule states that tournaments may disqualify competitors for “serious misconduct in failing to meet the Code’s standards.”

Niemann was likely the only one that threw a club 50 yards. He deserved to be penalized. How can you defend it?

And they enacted the rule in 2019, but told everyone that it would be a point of emphasis this year.

If they syringed the greens yesterday allowing Wyndam Clark to fire freely at the pins, why did the PGA allow the greens to overgrow today?

They look like female chia bush.

Really poor groundskeeping if you ask me.
