My kids aren't special needs, so I didn't have to worry about the effects of them learning that trans folks exist. They could handle it. And I'm quite certain they wouldn't get their bodies mutilated in school. But, hey ... given that you told us you couldn't have been valedictorian if they added your GPAs for grades 10-12 into one year ... your kids were almost certainly special, and they most certainly grew up in a horrible area ... so, maybe that was a concern of yours.
