Gay people can't stop being gay no matter how hard you try to suppress them but you could stop being a raging bigot. This is not a bothsides argument.
I disagree. I am not a bigot. Their behavior is wrong. That doesn’t make me hateful.

Not agreeing with some of their behavior doesn't make you a bigot. I'm Catholic and believe in the Church's teachings on homosexual acts. I'm not a bigot.

What takes it to bigotry is saying LGBT stuff should be "discouraged", pride should be banned, wanting to ban them from adopting or marrying, and thinking that the only reason some kids are LGBT is because they were abused. Basically you think LGBT people should be forced back into the closet/be second-class citizens without the same rights and privileges as straight people

We are designed to derive pleasure from touch. Sex is one of the "delivery mechanisms" for pleasurable touch. People derive pleasure from sexual activities, including those that don't result in reproduction. Ergo, biologically, men having sex with men is entirely valid.

You have to understand, to the civilized world, you're the 42 year old man who still believes in Santa. What do you think of 42 year old adults who still believe in Santa?
He's trying to use the Thomistic and natural law arguments that Catholics often use but he doesn't have the framework or know-how to do it

If it's not illegal and it causes you no harm, you don't get to decide whose behavior is wrong and you have zero business telling people what they should and shouldn't do, unless we get to decide what behavior of yours is wrong. Leave law abiding adults the F alone and mind your own business. If there is a judgment for them in the end, let god make that decision.

You most certainly are a bigot.

It's wrong, according to you. But no one gives a **** what you think about 2 (or more) consenting adults' activities that don't involve you. You are trying to stop others from doing what they want to do, because it's "different" ... and you even brought up "outlawing." Yes, you're a bigot. And you try to justify your bigotry via ancient superstition.

He's going to agree with you and say something about how they can do it in the privacy of their own homes but they need to stop pushing it on kids

Probably stops a good many. Y’all keep wanting to change the subject to what do straight people do.
No I don't. I don't want to monitor your behavior at all and I would never tell you that what you do is wrong or try to discourage you from doing anything not illegal, because it's none of my business. I don't want to guilt you into unhappiness to make myself feel better.

If it fits, you must acquit.

You've never given a woman an orgasm through anal sex? What am I saying ... I'm guessing you've never given a woman an orgasm.
If it doesn’t fit was how it goes. If it fits it would have been possibly been his glove.

I am not aware of all these anal orgasms you keep speaking of. You seem to be an expert on the subject.

Thanks for sharing! I hope it made you feel better, but you missed on just about everything.

Also, by nature being progressive is the opposite of having a small world view.

But keep trying, you'll feel better about yourself soon if you keep posting through it
Just because the title says it does not make it so.

I didn’t decide it was wrong. We get to influence others behaviors all the time. Just social etiquette in general. Does it harm me that you chew with your mouth open and cuss, no, should you do better, yes.

No. I would rather they just not do it. What y’all miss on this “pushing on kids” thing, is the movement to make it acceptable. It has been an orchestrated effort to tell kids that being LGBT is ok. That’s the rub because it’s not ok.

Here's the thing. Some kids are LGBT. What is the proper response to that?

You can't influence somebody to not be gay because it's not something that can be changed so if you insist on telling them they're wrong, then you're a bigot. In other words, they can't do better because they didn't choose to be gay and if you insist that they shouldn't act on it then you're trying to influence them to be miserable so you'll feel better. But why should it matter to you at all? You don't have to witness what two consenting adults do in private so why do you care?

You dont even see the irony in using the defense "i cant be closed minded my title says progressive" do you? Its that whole "I cant be" part that gets ya.
You didn't say close minded, you said small world view. So you are incorrect in both suppositions, but now you're moving goal posts.

I lean closer to close minded, but thats because my world view is big enough to see all sides and make a choice. I'm always open to discussing other view points, however, I grew up in the deep conservative/evangelical South and lived all over the country. My choice of life philosophy and worldview is the farthest thing from small, though I have certainly decided where I land on things and think I can back them up fairly well.

If you think thats a closed mindset, that's more on you than me.

You can change an opinion, you can't change a characteristic you're born with. I don't care that you hold that opinion but it's wild that you feel so comfortable spreading it in 2026. We thought being openly homophobic ended thirty years ago so it's weird that it's suddenly come roaring back. How did that happen?

Its one in the same dipshit. You can deflect and rationalize it any way you want but its blindingly obvious to an observer.

Except the only reason you don’t think it’s okay is because of your religion. You can masquerade it behind a bunch of other reasonings, but ultimately - at least based on the posts I’ve read itt - is because of your religion

I can’t support sin. That’s what I am saying. They obviously are free to do what they want. But I don’t have to support it just like I don't have to support other bad behaviors like drug use or compulsive gambling. I can say hey that is bad you should stop. But yall want people to be allies and support all selfish behavior because it we couldn’t possibly deprive someone of their every desire.

Well I don’t think it ever went away, yall were just canceling the **** out of people so they got scared to speak truth. It was a sad time.

People have finally had enough with this nonsense. Gender ideology and what not.

That is correct, which I know most liberals don’t respect so I was trying to come at it from a way y’all could maybe get behind.

I really do think my cultural appropriation comparison has some legs. Homosexual couples are appropriating Heterosexual norms of family and kids.

Do you tell people that wear garments made of two different cloths that they are wrong or is homosexuality the only sin you openly disagree with because it's the only sin you wouldn't commit? Is wearing a polyester blend shirt a selfish desire?
