For the upcoming season, our women’s basketball team will have a rev share more than triple that of baseball, I’ve been told.
Are you referring to above-the-cap money, by chance? NIL commercial deals? As for rev share, football and men's basketball received $20 million of the $20.5 million in rev share last year. The other $500k was split between women's basketball and baseball.

I do not doubt what you posted, but that wasn’t my recollection of the early discussions. I thought both WBB and Baseball were slated for a bit more money. So my question is whether the needle moved from initial discussions or do I just not recall those initial discussions correctly?

We paid a lot of money to have the privilege for Bellichick to assemble the worst roster we’ve had in 20+ years

Today, nothing shocks me anymore. We have to cough up the $$$, that’s the game with few exceptions.
I’m curious how many people the South Carolina stadium seats for baseball versus Carolina?
Playing in the SEC is really tough with all the pretty good teams to very good ones they have.
I would hate to see him go!

Yeah that makes no sense. The baseball program loses money but not the $4 million a year women’s basketball loses. Given baseball’s continued success I would reallocate some money between those two programs. I love Carolina sports but having 28 teams to support in the current environment with an ACC tv contract is a lot to ask. You have to support football and men’s basketball at as high a level as you reasonably can as they bring in the money. After that you invest in the programs that have generated those most success - baseball, field hockey, women’s soccer, lacrosse, golf, tennis. Women’s basketball has to have a significant investment as the most visible women’s sport and for Title IX reasons when compared to the men’s program but it does not need to lose $4 million.

How so? Are SEC schools even giving rev share money to baseball? Looks like SC is spending about $1 million more on baseball than UNC is, but SC is also losing more money in baseball than UNC (nearly a $2.7 million deficit in recent NCAA filings).
If it’s not a rev share issue, then it’s an NIL issue and the blame falls on UNC’s NIL machinery and the fans/boosters who are not adequately funding NIL for baseball.

This seems to benefit both Forbes and SC. Forbes gets more leverage with his current school, and SC gets to say to the Coastal Carolina coach that they have another fish on the hook. Seems very unlikely to actually happen. If it DOES happen, wow I don't know if I will be able to ever get very excited about UNC baseball again.

You’re not wrong in that everything outside of football and (at some schools) basketball is losing money. I think UConn and Scar were the only two women’s basketball teams to not lose money in 2025. I know most of the SEC is funding the bulk of their costs with non rev share money. But as the total rev share increases per year for everyone, I don’t know why we would not evenly split the delta of the increased “cap” among non-rev sports evenly. Maybe fundraising for baseball NIL is easier than for women’s basketball.

I would very happy if a result is the Collective chips in a nice amount to chase SEC schools payrolls. I mean if they find the money they can "make it" NIL

Right, so that goes to $21.3 million in 2026. About 800k more. I don’t think football and men’s basketball are going to get more of a percentage of that 800k. I think the vast majority of that will be going to women’s basketball. Hence, I could see why Forbes would need a negotiating chip.

If and when Kendall Rogers or Aaron Fitt mention Forbes as an actual candidate, this is all for nothing. Scott has helped this program grow and become what it is today, arguably moving at a better pace than where Fox had it. It’s built in the exact image he wants it. If anything, his name is there by his agent because Forbes is trying to raise more money for our program. I just can’t see Scott moving to Columbia and heading a up a program that since tanner moved to AD has been lost. His values and the values of that university and its base as on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Why would they give more rev share to women's basketball? Baseball needs more money in revenue sharing no doubt. Greg would know is UNC funding 34 baseball scholarships? If so that's huge but if there is 800 thousand dollars available in revenue sharing then at the very least it should have been split evenly between baseball and women basketball.

Our football program is such a joke. I wish we could take some of the millions wasted on the staff and NIL and put it towards baseball. The fact that Lombardi is the highest paid GM in college football and is absolutely clueless is honestly sad.

Raise more money for NIL-let Forbes compete for transfers from big powers
There seems little doubt if the collective raises more money ,they can "make it " NIL.

If the administration lets him walk over 400K revenue share that should be going towards baseball instead of all 800K to women basketball and then they pay BB millions and give him all of that revenue share for the crap show that is UNC football then everyone from the chancellor to both AD ,s should be fired. This can't be allowed to happen and baseball is by far our most successful men's sport.

I hear you
But an "alternative" is NIL $ . Rev Share, NIL-it is practically the same, practically the same source. Its all one pot in the end. It is for all practical purposes donor $, pay to play . Yes NIL $ has some hoops to jump-but I don't think we have ever been turned down for NIL clearinghouse $ in our Big sports

Sure, but we aren’t worried about everybody. There is one guy whose opinion matters and we are informed he (or someone on his behalf) is listening.

But why should we have to raise it ? Give him the 400K .

I ain't Tommy or Greg
But the "grillmaster " told me Coach wants NIL$ and likely Staff (not him) money
Now I think some of his staff can be stolen-even as head Coach. So that part may be a stretch investment wise
He’s been talking about coaching staff retention all season. Just like he talked about pitching facility needs two years ago before we got the lab, and hitting facilities last year before we got trajekt.

Well that's fine if she got the number 1 player in women basketball but why should she have more money than baseball? What has she done to earn the money at this point? Take care of this man and do it now!

Not a bad arguement Coach
now if Forbes wins it all , why should he get more for NIL
LOL
